One of my favorite elements thus far has been your openness about not just the books but the BookTube process itself of honing one's words for others. Especially extemporaneously-and you're right, there is a particular challenge to off-the-cuff speech but also an enchantment to the flow of it-it can be not quite as easy as it seems. There's a blankness in return that feels daunting (until, like a blank page, it becomes freeing). I hope other new or tentative BookTubers hear your thoughts and find comfort in the sharing of it.
Kerouac has never failed to disappoint. I've tried three of his works-a couple books required for college-and I find his prose most elegant in snippets yet together merely tepid and trailing. He declares passion but doesn't do well to present and spur it. Perhaps you'll find in his books what I can't, but he may not be worth your time.
You come from a good place, a place of sharing and curiosity and genuineness. I don't think there's anything presumptuous or rude about tagging whomever you like. Frankly, I'm grateful whenever I'm tagged no matter who from. It helps me to discover like-minded readers. That's so much of why we're here, right? Readers seeking connection (and great books). I understand the concern. In this case, though, you're doing fine. 👍

Thank you. I've been off social media for almost a decade, so I'm pretty rusty at all this, and even when I was on social media, I tended to be timid and reserved, so being in the forefront, having people click on my videos, seeing me, hearing my words, leaving me comments - incredibly warm and welcoming comments - is definitely a little intimidating. Being out in the open like this goes completely against my natural temperament, and sometimes I feel like I've jumped in a bit over my head.
I do like that when you're tagged it appears on the comments board under "Mentions", which seems to soften what could be made to seem rather blunt. That simple word, mentions, makes me more comfortable tagging others - I actually didn't learn about that until after I made this video. Everyone has been very kind and welcoming, and quite forgiving of any mistakes I may have made so far.
I agree with you on Kerouac, there were definitely moments in Lonesome Traveler that were well written and beautiful, but they seemed marred by being in the midst of the rest of his writing. I didn't go as far in depth in this video as I meant to about the plot, the book was actually quite interesting, but I felt like Kerouac's writing style continually got in the way of what could have been an impressive narrative. I may return to Kerouac one of these days, but it will likely be a long time before I do, if I do.
Thank you, as always, for watching and commenting. Your support and your thoughts have been very encouraging, above and beyond, much more than I ever expected to receive as I've leapt headfirst into this new experience.
