Looks like Ol’ Ernest is using a real heavy D string here. Might have broken one and had to improvise.🙂 Ernest always made sure his guys were recognized and had space to show their chops. Love the sound and camera work on these Pet Opry shows. T. Tommy’s smooth emcee work sets the mood. Acoustic stand-up bass, archtops, hollow body electrics, and pedal steel - they sound so good! And Tommy Jackson was no slouch on his fiddle.
O' Ernest is using the same A chord position (left hand) as Mac Wiseman ! I play guitar since 1958 (professionnaly from 1964 to...this morning, not as rhythm guitar guitarist but only as lead, my "rhythm" was too bad -irregularly- Thank you for your videos I discover too late (in 1961, we has not video in France).
