Dr Philip John is senior Consultant Psychiatrist in Kochi and UAE - in practice for over 45 years. He graduated in medicine from Medical College Thiruvananthapuram and holds MD in Psychiatry from NIMHANS, Bangalore, the premier institute for Neuroscience in Asia.
Dr Philip is noted for pioneering the shift of Psychiatry into mainstream medicine in Kerala and de-stigmatizing it in a General Hospital setting.
He also pioneered the introduction of Child Psychiatry services as a Division of Psychiatry with Peejays Child Guidance Clinic in Kochi. He has authored several books and chapters. He has worked as an expert in Learning Disorders fro CBSE and his research and books in this field are known. The Vishakha Oration Award instituted by the Indian Psychiatric Society has been bestowed on Dr. Philip John. Currently Dr. Philip heads Peejays Neurocenter in Kochi.
In this five-part series Dr John covers a wide range of topics. In Part-1 of the conversation he talks about his journey into Medicine and later into Psychiatry. In the other parts of the conversation, he covers what is the difference between Psychiatry and Psychology and the stigma surrounding both the streams in Kerala. He talks about the mistakes we make in Parenting. He also talks about how he openly says that he took medicines when he had depression and how he things it is important to normalize conversations like these. He talks about the role of Deepika Padukone in removing the stigma surrounding mental illness. The War we see every day in the news, the fight we see every day in the street, the toxic discussions we see in political debates
everything is caused by the insecurity of a group of people to accept their mistakes and forgive each other
Maybe better parenting will help us to build a new society where human being (boy/girl/man/woman) can overcome their insecurities and find a middle ground between conflicts and peace
Being a son with a mother having psychiatric disorder , my childhood was so horrible because of that, but after I completed my plus two and went for nursing I came to know the importance of psychitaric patients and psychiatrist
I couldn't ever forget my mother's psychiatrist in thalassery
And the stigma society give to us as a family member of a psychiatric person always gave trauma through out the childhood

After I completed my nursing I went to meet my mothers doctor he was very fond of me, but he died during my nursing tenure.
Now my mother is healthy and so happy
But still people mentality never change

Sorry i couldn't recommend any one there now. Bz I am working as a nurse manager in Delhi. No much connection there. Only my mother stays there with my sis. I very rarely visit tly during my vocation
U can find psychiatrist in erancholi side near indira gandi hospital or else u can find in coperalative hospital koduvalli either

I had consulted dr Philp John , even though he has vast knowledge, his attitude is not right , he doesn't allow the patient or their relatives to speak rather he tries to discipline them.I would suggest going to MIBO clinic from my personal experience.

hello dhanya ചേച്ചി, പലരും പല അഭിപ്രായങ്ങളും അവരുടെ perspectives um share ചെയ്യുന്നത് കണ്ടു. but more than that എനിക്ക് ഒരു സംശയം ആണ് ഉള്ളത് Dr Philip sir പറഞ്ഞതു പോലെ ഇപ്പോഴത്തെ യുവാക്കളുടെ വാക്ചാതുരിയെയും , ആശയങ്ങൾക്ക് തതുല്യമായിട്ടുള്ള വാക്കുകൾ correspondence ആയിട്ട് കിട്ടുന്നില്ല , മനസ്സിലുണ്ടെങ്കിലും അത് പുറത്തു വരാത്തതും ആയിട്ടുള്ള വിഷയത്തെ പറ്റി പറഞ്ഞത് വളരെ ശെരി ആണ് as a youngster പലപ്പോഴും എനിക്കും അത് അനുഭവപ്പെടുന്നുണ്ട് so i am wanted to ask that ഇതിനെ മറികടക്കാൻ എന്തെങ്കിലും solutions ഉണ്ടോ അത് ഒന്ന് share ചെയ്യുമോ.. പലർക്കും അതൊരു വലിയ HELP ആകുമായിരുന്നു
