Cheeky title aside this is a fantastic guide I appreciate how instead of looking at all the skills from 1-100 you go across the levels giving context to the play style instead of just listing off skills as you level. Thank you for the great video!
Umbral Soul dropping down to level 35 has been a delight. To just immediately swap to it after a fight to not only fully recover MP but to also be ready for the next fight with a full stack of ice and the timer frozen in place. That and the part of how the gauge would still tick for you is an additional bonus to enjoy.
small fun trick you can do is that if you have lets say 3 seconds left on ur timer and u started a fire 4 cast that (combined with animation) would take too long for you to get ur paradox out, you can slidecast it and press paradox. the ability itself wont hit earlier but the animation will start earlier and it will let you get the timer refresh a tiny bit quicker than without it :) saved me some very crucial rotations
For anyone who still might struggle with fitting everything under fire phase, I would recommend trying to increase your spell speed with materia melds or different gear pieces. Black Mage is a job that scales pretty well with spell speed, and faster cast can make the job more comfortable for learning and executing the rotation. Just note the faster your cast/recast times, the less time you have to move when using instant spells or your instant abilities.
Love the guide! I started with BLM 2 weeks before dawn trail launched, so right as I hit 50 and got used to my rotations and movement tech, it got destroyed. Oh, my first love, how you have fallen So anyways I'm a red mage main now
BLM is my worst job. I was surprised I enjoyed leveling it up in DT from 90-100, however this video also made me realize (again) how garbage my rotation in the job is. 🤣 BUT I did get some good tips from this! Thanks for the video!
I've been complaining all day about not understanding BLM, I just hit lvl 60 this afternoon and this guide arrived at the absolute most perfect time! :'D
I mean BLM nDPS has been the highest in patch 7.1 so far. And rDPS is still basically a bit lower than pictomancer. Im sure black mage will get more love when the expansion progresses along side with inevitable picto nerfs that are to come in 7.2 / 7.3
yea, it happens that you miss out on some dot refreshes or similar. since unlike with other jobs you cant just be like "oh dot? sure" since your entire rotation is timer based and often times you are already out of time if you want to finish ur fire 4s before the timer runs out. i personally like to push the timer very low before refreshing (1 sec or less) so that i have extra time whenever i need to get the dot out

Awesome video. I have so much trouble playing black mage, although I love the idea and power fantasy of the job.

omg i was looking for a guide vid and found yours uploaded 1 hour ago
I am personally a fan of ice opener. I know it’s not the highest DPS, but it’s more comfortable, and I’m not parser.
I also practice the Ice Opener, often using Triplecast to put in Blizz III, High Thunder (Instant cast), Blizz IV then move straight to Fire III
My favorite dps job ❤️🔥
Love the guide!

Your video editing is nice! What's the app or software that you use?

I'll stick with RDM & PCT. I'm too stupid for BLM
wait does despair give astral hearts???
I'm still not 100% on thunderhead, I miss thunder procs. It's still a pretty good job to play though.
