[Kobo] Fix unicode fonts for Kobo firmware

- I found a way to get rid of flaw display of Unicode fonts on the Kobo device after restarting. Even though the display can be rectified by picking one book, then return to home screen but I somehow feel that Kobo devices are inferior compared with those of Kindle in this aspect.
Modifying the fonts in firmware will help to permanently fix this flaw (wonder why Kobo haven't done this!). It is indeed very easy step-by-step tutorial.

Hi, I am trying to download Libra2 4.32 fixed firmware (to achieve unicode support in menus for czech language where some characters are broken)
But it seems the link is dead.. Can you fix it please, or share the firmware again?

There are 2 ways of fixing unicode fonts, by using fixed firmware or by patching. The effect is similar as the fonts are added to the OS.
@@kindlekobotips6122 Thank you again! latest fixed FW I found there is 4.34, It works well, as I see You replaced Avenir by another font (gillsans I guess), am I right?
Will you fix also the latest version 4.35 please? After I did sync and update via wifi, it is breaked again, so I stopped automatic syncing for now..
@@kindlekobotips6122 And, I am curious, is there any way how to replace original Avenir Next with one I have, which is OK in showing special characters for Czech language? I like the look of Avenir in menus, but with original font those special Czech chars (Ř, Ů, Č etc) are significantly bigger than rest of word, so it just does not look good.. So my quest is to make it looks like original, but with normal size of all characters.. :)
Is there any way to do this by myself, even if I am not a programmer and linux user? Just to replace one Avenir with better One
@@ondrejstindl7123 Nice to hear it works for you. From my experience, I would recommend using the patch. There is Koboroot file in the folder Libra2\4.35. Just do the same, copy to .kobo folder. One of advantages of patching is that the kobo will ask for your confirmation before the update, thus you can ignore and continue using the stable version you like.
Regarding fonts, I replaced avenir and georgia by the unicode supported versions. You can also find it in the root of shared folder.
@@ondrejstindl7123 So you have another version of avenir which support Czech. So plz watch this video again. The kobos use avenir and georgia as system fonts. You need to install 7z to access and replace the fonts in the right place. See this video again. The fonts I use are also shared in the root folder.
Another way is to make the patch using kobopatch. Then access the content of the ouput Koboroot using 7z, and put in the fonts in the right place. See my other video which has kobopatch in the title. It is in Vietnamese but very easy step-by-step guide. You can do it by watching the video without any need to be a programmer. I'm not programmer, too ^^.

Does this trick work for Bengali language ?
@@riheera I'm not sure. It depends on the replacing georgia and avenir fonts or others you may have. If these two are not supported Bengali, there is another work-around by copying the supported to /fonts folder (this way is not permanent).
Your trick works but its not parmanent. when I go back after opening a book, its shows box again. do you have any parmanent solution ?
@@riheera you should find georgia and avenir which support your languages, then follow instruction in my video. These two are system fonts.

sao máy kobo không đọc được truyện tranh file mobi vậy bạn. trước máy mình mới mua về đọc được truyện tranh rồi sau đó mình update bản firmware mới là lỗi k đọc được. buồn quá
Ôi ko có thông báo cho comment của bạn. Bạn còn dùng kobo không, truyện tranh đọc trên trình đọc gốc của kobo là file *CBZ nhé. File *MOBI bạn dùng trình koreader nhé.
