This race shows exactly why I enjoy watching Vees. They might not be super quick, but they race close, they race hard but they race CLEAN. If that was Formula Fords I'd have backed it in someone would have nerfed someone else...
Fantastic racing, thanks for sharing. I raced vee's for a season around Sandown, Winton, Calder, Queensland Raceway and Philip Island, super fun little beasts if you can stay in the front groups wind :)
Mount Panorama. Up until now I've only seen it in game racing sims. I wanted to see the real world track at the same perspective. I found this video. It's a like. This is good. Cockpit view of the whole thing. It was fun to watch. All the cars seemed so equal in performance. The end result rests on driving skill.
Looks like grouse fun, the formula V looking like the perfect balance of car to drive around Bathurst. I wish I had done this in my lifetime. Too late.
aren't you using a set up where you are sort of flicking it in to corners and letting the back of the car do some of the steering? like having the car feel very light and requiring lot of correcting at the wheel?
I understand this racing is more dangerous than most other types, but the driver should try being a little more aggressive, there are a few times when you are on line, but because someone is next to you you give up the position. I understand that I was not the one doing it and the situations may seem simpler than they were at the time, but when I see it happen more than once in such a short time (yes this video is short) some bells go off. No offense intended. Awesome race and awesome video
I drive a FVee in Brazil. I was surprised by how different are the suspensions you guys use over there! What engine do you use? Quite a nice race to watch btw, congrats! :)
dam ma opening lap down in the case fuck me i was like stick it in man go and u just managed to stay on dam its wicked vid man great driving keep it up wellsone nice racing
@fred19137 This racing requires the use of a brain. Sometimes you have to give up a position in order to maintain the momentum to not lose the slipstream to the leaders. If you lose that, you are racing for 4th and 5th place instead which is stupid. Look at him gesturing at 2:10 to think about the leaders instead of getting involved in your own private battle. You need to work with your competitors but need to beat them as well. It's a fine line.
Hey Tim Good drive mate, that guy in the lite blue Jacer almost kiiled you a couple of times, also amazing how wide Kinsella gets his car isn't it, getting itchy feet here
I don't think that's necessarily the case. You have to remember that these cars only have about 40 hp. What looks like cautious driving is often an attempt to maintain speed, as aggressive driving tends to actually slow you down due to racing lines that are not ideal. While this prevents the driver from passing in the short term, it certainly keeps them at pace with everyone else. Acceleration is just too be as aggressive as in other classes.
Watched the whole thing and come on dude, stop being nice and running wide so people can pass you. And chill with the braking while following these guys, get right up their ass and show them whose boss. Other than that you drove really well, drafted clean but a little too close, picked great lines (except the pair of lines when you were passed near the end). All in all, keep driving like that and get a little more ballsy when following and passing, and the race is yours
Gotta agree mate. He was faster and had better lines than anybody. If he'd risk more he'd have won the race for sure. But these cars don't seem that safe and that might be the reason, I mean, it's easy to talk :)
15:55 yo were robbed of second place, BUGGER! Clearly you had the faster car at that point and its a shame you couldn't give 'em an ankle tap to make some room.
You build a Formula Vee engine very loose. Lots of clearance around the bearings, lots of room around the piston rings. This is to minimise mechanical drag. Bear in mind, they're pretty close to standard 1600cc air-cooled VW engines still.
I've got to get into this here in QLD. Karting is just getting too boring after watching these! Especially considering the cost in the 1200cc isn't much more a season then what I'm paying racing TAG karts.
One of the most enjoyable 16 minutes of motor racing I have watched in years. Thank you.
Cheap and cheerful.
Fast and overdrive top gear superb.little bullets.
This race shows exactly why I enjoy watching Vees. They might not be super quick, but they race close, they race hard but they race CLEAN. If that was Formula Fords I'd have backed it in someone would have nerfed someone else...
We need a moments silence for the oil that was lost here today....
Great vid! :D
Not bad for a bunch of Beetles. :)
Good, clean racing. Some F3 drivers should watch this and learn from it.
That was brilliant. I've watched this a few times over. Good clean racing.
this is the kind of generous, clean racing that is what we really need more of.
Fantastic racing, thanks for sharing. I raced vee's for a season around Sandown, Winton, Calder, Queensland Raceway and Philip Island, super fun little beasts if you can stay in the front groups wind :)
That was bloody brilliant!
Three wide down conrod at around the 15.50 mark was one of the best things I have seen at Bathurst!
I drive in UK Vee, i've also driven this track in 1977/8 in a Ford Falcon 500 the day before 1000 race. That was good close racing.
unreal. what a great race to watch, totally befitting such a classic track. big hellos and even bigger jealousy from the UK.
What a race that was:O
The battle between the formulas was very tight all the time.
And the race track was just amazing!
best camera angle, feels like your there.

Bloody hell that looks like a lot of fun
Great Race!!! I was on the edge of my seat 100% of the time!
Looks like grouse fun, the formula V looking like the perfect balance of car to drive around Bathurst. I wish I had done this in my lifetime. Too late.
This is what I call racing, and of course on the best track in the world!
they are pretty much in 3rd and 4th the whole way around... crazy mid corner speed
That was fun. It got really dicey on that final lap
Your car definitely seems to have a fair bit of straight line speed down con-rod. Awesome racing man!
aren't you using a set up where you are sort of flicking it in to corners and letting the back of the car do some of the steering? like having the car feel very light and requiring lot of correcting at the wheel?
Awesome. This is racing.
I work corners at races for RMVR and see a lot of vee's but they are nothing like this. Awesome driving btw!

Absolutely brilliant racing! Well done! :)
Scary stuff! Got to love it!

Do you regear the transmission for such speed? Just wondering...
My dad is a Formula Vee driver too. But he has a Vortech type which is a newer car. He has won a SCCA nationial title
GREAT STUFF !!!
what speeds were acheived going down the straight??
Nice racing dude!
What a great race, and good driving. :D
this is real competition! every lap first 5 car changes places!
Great driving
well theses are interesting looking race cars!...🙋🐈 ... very cool.
hi every one! its possible the join for this championship in UK?
Great drive!
great race,good battle
Great stuff!
Is blocking considered ok in Formula Vee?

Fab.totally nuts and bolts.love it.
Why did it have to end ?
Espetacular!!!!

What was the meaning of the gesture at 2:08 ?
Anderson Scholmeier he's telling the other driver to stop looking at him and pay attention to the track. At least that's what I mean when I do it.
Line up and draft-up to the leaders -- don't race side-by-side
Yeah max Verstappen would have killed himself, or somebody else.
I like it!
Great video!
2 stroke engines?
This is what people wish F1 was
Do they have two-stroke engines? Can't tell from the sound but I see blue smoke comin out of exhaust..
nat7bgtt No, VW 1600cc flat 4s.
Naw, they're four strokes. That blue smoke is from dead valve seals.
@@MrSunrise- what valve seals?
@levethane No, they're Volkswagen flat-fours.
fuck me! what a track, what a race!
Can I breathe now...? Wow!
15:55 yo were robbed of second place, BUGGER! Clearly you had the faster car at that point and its a shame you couldn't give 'em an ankle tap to make some room.
What a race!
That number 15 , never give up... LOL xD
It is Formula Ford or Vee ?
Glider FS Vee, see front axle🤓
corrida limpa, muito bom. acho que em Monaco tem mais zonas de ultrapassagem do que nesse circuito haahaha
wheres the halo??
In F1 😅
Wow this game looks realistic! Best game of 2013!!!!
yes!
These cars are like F1 in the 50s. No downforce, small tyres,...
Very cautious driving passed up chances to get ahead
That's great!
Some of these cars seem to need valve stem oil seals. The racing was better than F1.

On top of what was mentioned, these don’t have valve stem seals..
shift 2 unleashed
The Mountain!
2:44.12 3rd lap
Bees could never pass CA's Emission Standards Test - smokey Joe....
I watched the whole race and maan, you weren't really lucky on that one
is it just me or is he not cornering very quickly or AS quickly as he could be
nice one cobber

Brilliant stuff. Have some smoke farts to the face too!!
Toca Race Driver 3
@Zososg It's just you.
2:11 epic hahaha
Damn it! LOL!
Bit slow over the top.
They need 500ci engines with twin-screw superchargers, and they need to be alcohol injected.
ok expert
Epic polite.
