2:15 first time hearing any trainer share that part, and it makes sense. Thanks!

Can I do this myself or will that end up bad in the future

I wouldn't do it yourself without seeing a professional trainer first.

I recently got a 1.5 year old working line XL American Bully he hasn’t had any training outside of obedience training with me in your opinion is it too late to start him. He is incredibly balanced and learns really fast. I am a veterinary technician and really want to give him a chance to work I think it will be great for him but I am asking several professionals in this line of work before moving forward as the last thing I want is to do something wrong. There is an amazing trainer close to me who is also a k9 trainer for my city’s PD but before bringing him to them I want some opinions

I should also mention he loves his rope and other tug style toys and dummy’s but I can’t get him to release them so I have refrained from play with them until I can have help from a trainer with out I have considered ecollars but I would like guidance on proper use all the reading in the world doesn’t compare to hands on 😅

I would have a trainer take a look at him, we always start protection work as a playful thing by getting use to playing tug essentially then escalate if the dog fits the bill

Hey I know you're not asking me. But I'm telling you absolutely not your dog is still a puppy brother. And has plenty of time for development.

Do they have to be tied on a chain while doing this training, or can it be done off chain?

You can do flirt pole stuff off leash but for the purpose of technique we used tie backs.
