Yep. I use the $20 GoPro handlebar mount on the post for my passenger seat headrest. That angle shows my inputs and the track, and the mount is small enough to leave on the headrest permanently.
Well, for autocross, I generally mount where you had yours, so I can see what my hands are doing. For autocross, I wouldn't want the camera that much in my view, either, maybe. I may try one and add a second stream to SoloStorm.
I used it this weekend, and there was too much glare from my windshield. Not the mount’s fault, but an observation. May be useful for other things besides cameras like radar detectors, or for filming back at the driver pointed in reverse with a wide angle view
There's a way to mount the camera hidden out of driver's view with the OuttaSight Kit if glare's an issue. The kit is $27.50 and can be configured in 5 different ways depending on the device you're mounting. Works great to get a camera or track tool out of your line of sight.
Most of the benefit to an incar camera on track is seeing the drivers input.

Could the same consistent positioning be achieved with a GoPro sticky mount on the windshield behind the mirror?
And a LOT less than eighty bucks! Cool idea, but nothing for my car nor would I probably spend this much on a camera I use twice a year
Great idea. Nuying one for my cayman and mx5
