Chickenbone John's amp and pedalboard setup

  • I decided to do this as people occasionally ask me what about amps and effects I use. For ages I used a Sessionette 75 combo, a switchable twin channel amp, then I made a combo using a 22w Session BluesBaby in a Fender Hot Rod Deluxe cabinet, which in my option sounded better.
The only disadvantage was that it was single channel amp, so for live work I needed to be able to add a little drive to it. I had been using a Boss Blues Driver and a tremolo pedal, and decided to put together a small pedalboard, with just a tuner, tremolo, overdrive and looper on it.
Here I talk about the amp and the setting I use on the pedalboard.

I'm now using a Yuer PR-02 rechargeable power supply. It's slimline so fits neatly underneath the board, held in place with Velcro. It has 7 outlets and recharges with a USB type C cable. In the video I have a Voodoo LabPedal Power 2 Plus supply that was on a much bigger board, but it is heavy, bulky and expensive, so decided to put together a more minimal rig. When I tried fitting the Voodoo Lab supply under this little board I had to make some packers with rubber buffers as the Voodoo supply is quite tall. It was all a bit clunky so bought a relatively cheap Yuer supply because it was so thin, and being rechargeable means that I could also use it with a small battery amp for busking etc., and there's one less cable on stage.

Thanks for this John that's what I need how does fs5u switch work with looper just plug it into the looper and away it goes and what control over the looper does it have?? Cheers John

I didn't like the fact that I had to double tap the looper to stop it, and when clearing a loop it would play through the loop before cancelling, so the switch allows me to stop a loop with single tap on the switch, restart with a tap on the looper itself, and I can silently clear a stopped loop by a long press on the control switch.

Great Video! Can someone recommend cheaper alternative to the Keeley DynaTrem Dynamic pedal?

I've also got a Boss TR-2 which is perfectly acceptable at less than half the price of the Keeley and runs off battery or 9v adapter (the Keeley only runs off 9v supply, no battery option). I used to have a Joyo, which was super cheap (under £30) and sounded great. I loved it, but but sadly it started getting unreliable after a couple of years, hence I replaced it with the Keeley.

It was a Behringer Eurolive B210D a very simple Behringer UB802 (superseded by the Xenyx line) mixer. ua-cam.com/video/-O8IQ8OzQ_U/v-deo.htmlsi=umpYf68P4Xs04XIs
