  • Replacing interior bulbs in BMW 1-Series (E81, E82, E87, E88) with LEDs picked up to match exterior courtesy lights. Check out how to disassemble dome light, footwell lights and glovebox lamp, to replace W5W and C5W bulbs with LEDs. By changing standard bulbs with diodes you lower the current draw and protect car battery from draining it empty if you use interior lights too long.

    The link you provided, can you double check that they match the welcome lights for the e87 please? I'm very interested in buying it. Your set looks different in shape.

    How much current map lights must draw to not turn it self off? (I tried 0.24w, it turns it self off)

    One question, why when I replace the central light bulb with a LED one it doesn't turn on anymore, and when I replace the halogen one it works again, and it only does with the central one at the top, with the side ones it works with LED lights without problems?

      It looks like the roof control module detects low load from the LED, assumes it's an burned bulb and cuts the power.

    Hey!
    Did you buy a complete set or made the LED's yourself?
    The tool you are using for dismounting the rooflight, what are you using? - dont want to brake anything.

      Right now I'm using set of Aglint LEDs. Check one of my recent videos about that.
      You can buy set of prying tools on AliExpress for $2.

    A ten AglintLED to sa dostępne u nas ? Czy tylko zagranica ? Czy LEDY musza posiadać CANBUS? Do wnętrza auta? Czy mogą byc normalne? Tez posiadam taka jedynkę 👍🙂

      Ja akurat kontaktowałem się bezpośrednio z producentem, który mi wysyłał kilka sztuk do testów, ale wydaje mi się, że przez stronę internetową można zamówić od nich (z Chin) z wysyłką do Polski.
      Do środka nie trzeba CAN-BUS. Oświetlenie wnętrza nie powoduje błędów na desce rozdzielczej. Zauważyłem jednak, że słabe żarówki potrafią zgasnąć i prąd do nich nie jest puszczany aż do ponownego wyłączenia i włączenia silnika. Z tymi od Aglint jeszcze nie miałem tego problemu, chociaż akurat te do wnętrza nie są CAN-BUS ready.

    Do you know what length the C5W bulb is as well as the light in the boot?

    • @mrfixpl
      @mrfixpl  6 років тому

      Sorry, don’t remember. But it’s fairly easy to remove that light to check.

    So I messed with my bulbs and now that cover for the lights near the windscreen pops off whenever I go over bumps.Any suggestions?

    • @mrfixpl
      @mrfixpl  6 років тому +1

      If you didn't broke any clips then you just need to install it back firmly. Sometimes you need to remove the whole dome light to install the cover the right way.

    I found a much easier way to replace the dome lights. The whole dome light can be removed from the headliner with the plastic removal tool. The lamp and socket can be unscrewed from the dome light assembly with just a quarter turn.

    what exactly is this "rubber tube" you said at 1:19? never heard of that before..

    • @mrfixpl
      @mrfixpl  5 років тому +1

      It’s a tool that I got to replace bulbs in buttons installed in arcade machines.
      In BMW you can remove the whole dome light assembly and access the bulb from there but if you have a rubber tube like that you can do it with just the plastic cover removed - faster and easier.

    I changed only 2 of them ( the ones witch turn on when you open door .. but now i cant turn on them when the car is running or even when someone open the door .. they only light when i put key out ... and than they works .. whats wrong ? do i need to change them completly or?

    • @mrfixpl
      @mrfixpl  5 років тому

      Roof Module is detecting those LEDs as broken bulbs and shuts down the power. You need to install LEDs with load resistors (so-called CAN-BUs ready LEDs). Those will trick the module into thinking that there are regular bulbs installed.

  • @sublimegabe
    @sublimegabe 6 років тому +1

    I have heard that handling bulbs with your hands leaves oils on the bulb shortening their life span. Dunno if this is true but I install with gloves just in case.

    i did the same thing for my e87 room lamps, but they turn off after a while...
    as soon as i stop the car and get the key out, they turn on again...
    i think it has to do with the ecu checking them... can i do something about it ?
    should i get canbus ones ?

    • @mrfixpl
      @mrfixpl  4 роки тому +1

      Interior lights are checked by roof module and power is cut off if it detects blown bulb. Using low power consumption LED can be falsely recognized as blown bulb. Look for one with additional resistor (they call it CAN-BUS filter). It will draw more power.

    Dzieki!

    • @mrfixpl
      @mrfixpl  7 років тому

      Teraz przeszedłem na komplet żarówek od AglintLED.
      A te na filmiku niestety są niewiadomego pochodzenia. Zostały mi z jakiejś innej przesyłki z Chin i nie potrafię ich namierzyć jako osobnego produktu. A szkoda, bo mi się kończą, a na pozycyjne są idealne :(

      BMW interior lights does not cause error message on your instrument cluster BUT roof module detects blown bulb and stores the fault.

  • @pameton

    a question for you
    my e87 is equipped with a single bulb lamp in the back, with no button, it turns on at the same time as the on the front of the car
    i found a remplacement light module with 3 bulb and buttons and it fits just fine in place,
    only problem.... the wire is different... the one i had for my previous lamp has only a + and - two pins connector
    and the new one has more pins, is there a cable i can find somewhere to retrofit the light ?
    thanks for your time...
    if you dont know, well it's fine >

    hi sorry I k ow this is not irelivent but I seen that you have a vidoes about Renault clios could you tell me how auto wipers and headlights work please

    • @mrfixpl
      @mrfixpl  7 років тому +1

      You should have AUTO position on both lights and wipers stalk.
      When in AUTO position, your car uses sensor on the windscreen to check current outside conditions (how bright it is and how much rain is falling).

      Depends on what you like. For me standard bulbs look like from western saloon oil lamp.
