It's genuinely confusing how these were never *properly* featured in the 5D's anime. They would have been a perfect way for the main characters to counter the synchro-absorption effects of the Meklord Emperors, as an alternative to the Accel Synchro evolution (wich, ironically, does NOT play around said effect because all accel synchro monsters released in the TCG/OCG during that time were still vulnerable to it). It could have been sort of a new "powerup" that all of team 5D's had to master, wich not only would have given them all something to do, it would have also opened the door for new Assault mode upgrades! Can you imagine Black Rose Dragon/Assault mode? Or Ancient Fairy Dragon? Power Tool Dragon or Life Stream Dragon? They could even have made Black Winged Dragon playable... maybe. Idk. lol
I was thinking of how one would give a literal field nuke an /Assault Mode, and then Ruddy Rose Dragon crossed my mind, so I decided to use it as a basis. Name: "Black Rose Dragon/Assault Mode" Attribute: Fire Type: Dragon/Effect Level: 9 ATK/DEF: 2900/2300 Effect: Cannot be Normal Summoned/Set. Must be Special Summoned with "Assault Mode Activate". Once per turn: You can destroy as many cards on the field as possible (except this card), and if you do, banish cards from your opponent's GY, up to the number of cards destroyed, also for the rest of this turn, you can only declare an attack with this card. When this card on the field is destroyed: You can target 1 "Black Rose Dragon" in your GY; Special Summon it.
I think I read on tvtropes' Fridge page that using Accel Synchro was them lampshading how gamebreaking Synchros were. Note: Before responding how "stupid" that sounds, probably should check for yourself first.
Goyo Guardian Assault Mode: It has the pre errata Goyo effect but also can attack multiple times, just add some kind of restriction like "monsters summoned by this card effect can not be used as extra deck materials except for synchro summons" so people cant go extremly crazy with it

Tbf, there also aren't too many Water Synchros that would warrent it. The most notables are Coral Dragon, the White Aura fish monsters, and Crystron Phoenix.

1 thing about Colossal Fighter/AM: The card saw nieche play in Rank 4 Warrior Toolbox decks circa '13-'15. It was all due to it being the highest ATK Main Deck Warrior monster making Zubababa General a very beefy boi AND it's floating effect. You see, the floating effect of /AM cards stated they have to be destroyed while on the field, not the monster zone. Meaning that if by some means an /AM monster becomes an equip card and gets destroyed, the floating effect is live allowing for a special summon of the base form from the GY. WHY DO I KNOW ALL OF THIS?!!?!?!?!?!?!
That's were the people got the idea and then figured that when Zubaba General is removed from the field, they can just summon a Colossal Fighter from the grave JUST CAUSE!
I remember building an Assault Mode deck for a roleplay that died shortly after. My character was starting with only Colossal Fighter and Arcanite Magician, and on a quest to get back the other Assault Mode monsters stolen from her family.
As someone who really likes having Colossal Fighter as one of my aces, I wish they did more with Colossal Fighter Assault Mode than just making enemies lose atk points and discard from my deck. Like let it attack twice per turn or avoid destruction by card effects once. Just something that makes using this card more appealing for us Warrior Type focused duelists as an ace monster! The disrespect to those of us without an archetype to rely heavily on is real…. Everything needs an archetype to be good these days.
One that I thought of was an assault mode for power tool dragon. If special summoned you can equip up to 2 equip spells with different names from your deck to this card. (Quick effect) destroy any number of equip cards equipped to this card, then target the same number of cards your opponent control: banish them. When this card is destroyed and sent to the GY target 1 power tool dragon special summon it and if you do equip one equip spell in your GY to it. This would act as another disruption and spot removal. The weakness ofc being the need to run equip spells. Although you only need to run 2 instead of 3+ when you use og power tools effect.
I had an assault mode rda in duel links and I had this very cheesy otk combo it was stardust dragon + rda assault mode It was attacking with the two base dragons assault mode activate into rda attacking with it negating my own nuke effect with stardust floating into base rda and attacking one las time
I remember liking assault mode a lot because when this was released, the extra deck was still kinda a hassle to get to with how tuners were required. I get to have my Stardust AM omni negate everything and make people scoop...shame it didnt catch on as I liked the designs.
i'd like to see /Assault Modes for Black Rose Dragon, Ancient Fairy Dragon, Power Tool Dragon, and Blackwinged Dragon to finish up the 5Ds team. Revived King Hades and Archfiend Zombie Skull to finish the og Plaguespreader trio. Cyberse Quantum Dragon, and Clear Wing Dragon for next Gen lols. and just imagine the kind of pants-shitting terror a Borreload Savage Dragon/Assault Mode could inspire
Ok, for thec cards i think that is cool the right driver and winged kuriboh engine, because by using flute of kuriboh, one for one or emergency teleport + where arf thou, you can get a field with 2 sincros or 2 fusions( by using muddy mudragon and the level 5 nefarious). Edit: still waiting the sincro parshath to get an assault mode with book of moon efect

Special kuriboh by flute, normal summon right driver(and special left), link into anima with driver, summon nefarious fron the deck by sending anima and left to grave, special right. Then you could do a set up of accel black rose, or do muddy mudragon, muddy can make the light albaz fusion and the light albaz can make any level 8 or lower fusion, my favorites are clock dragon and the new relinquished fusion. Yes it run 5 garnets, but its 2 card combo
I wanna see zarc get an assault mode I mean his official card is fusion but he does technically count as a fusion synchro xyz and pendulum monster he's got synchro in there I see that completely plausible
Where'd you get the image for Red Dragon Archfiend/Assault Mode? The only images I can find on the wiki/fandom all have the text formatted a bit different, and most importantly, say "If this card attacks, destroy all other monsters after damage calculation". Not "all other monsters *on the field* after damage calculation". Just "destroy all other monsters", and I was expecting a joke about how weirdly written the effect is. There also doesn't seem to be any errata of the effect altering the wording to be more specific on where the destruction takes place.
I think a assault mode deck focusing on stardust and tg would be the move if you would go for this deck. With how easy it is to bring out stardust it might not be the hardest thing in the world bringing out 2 stardust dragon assault modes and have 2 Omni negates every single turn and eventually swap one out for TG but yeah more tech cards for consistency would be fantastic
I really like these cards for some reason... They're just a very fun idea I guess, but very hard to make playable. They've done a fantastic job with the modern stuff though
Such a cool idea executed so poorly. The fact that if its in your hand its pretty much stuck there is just bizarre. Should have made it so you can special summon them from the hand by tributing its synchro counterpart and just have the Assault cards be optional support .
Bruh, when I was still playing this card game, Stardust Dragon Assault Mode is one of the best cards in the game with it's insane omni negation effect. It was the like the only monster card that had the omni negation effect at the time. Nowadays, in current yugioh, everyone and their mom's has a monster card that has omni negate effect.
It's such a disappointment that Arcanite Magician/Assault Mode doesn't put any spell counters on the Arcanite Magician it summons when it gets destroyed.

Accel synchro does play around Meklords though? It does it by chaining the summon to the Meklord targeting.
@@manjackson2772 Yeah Shooting Star ,Red Nova and T.G Blade Blaster had anime effects to banish themselves and dodge the Meklord absorbtion effects.

I used to put it in my Gemini deck way back then. My Gemini was a little more focus on syncro summoning, so I have stardust Assault mode in it.

I love running my Hyper Psychic Blaster/Assault Mode deck on Master Duel, just attacking and burning for good damage.

I believe stardust assault mode saw some success experimentally in the 2010s but was not ever meta.
