    This is our version of Scotland's Beautiful NC500 route. We did the journey in my boyfriend's Vauxhall Vivaro camper van and only booked a couple of campsites along the route. Scotland's wild camping is just breath taking and we'd Highly recommend getting the ferry out to the Outer Hebrides. A detailed video of the Outer Hebrides is coming soon!

    In 2022 I did several hikes in Scotland. I had to cut short my visit to the Isle of Skye because of the weather. So I arrived a day early at Sandwood bay. Stayed there a evening, a day, a morning. Only my stepfoots in the sand. No noise, no cars or plaines, no people. Just the wind, the ocean and the dunes. Probably one of the best times.

    Reminded me of my West coast Scotland trips in the mid 80's. Got as far as Sandwood bay and back via the Cairngorms. This lovely video makes me want to do it again. Shame I live so far South.

    I have the Vauxhaul Vivaro campervan also, just converted it last September. I done the NC500 on my motorcycle a few years ago now. I'm fortunate as I live in Scotland so not too far to travel. I stopped at some of the places you did. We don't have mosquitos in Scotland, only midges.
    Great footage and commentary. :)

      @vanvistas  3 роки тому +1

      Ok... this is a little embarrassing... I have forever thought that “midges” was an abbreviation of “mosquito” 🙈🙈🙈 thank you for setting that one straight! I hope you have some great trips in the vivaro this summer, I think it’s a brilliant size for a little stealth camper

      Well this just made my day! We’re hoping to go back this September and paddle board the whole Caledonian canal and then drive up to the the Shetlands. But we’ll see what the weather does 🤞🏼 those lochs can get choppy!

    What date did you 2 do the NC500 in September, me and my wife did it in our Renault trafic in September aswell, we did a night over in Skye aswell. My van wasnt converted when we went but now its fully done and ready for the lockdown to be lifted and we will be doing it again. Nice vid bye the way.
    The North coast beaches are stunning , Sango beach campsite is stunning.

      Ah no way! We were there end of august to the 5th of Sept and had beautiful weather (except on Skye 😅) I think road trips before the conversion with just a mattress in the back are just as fun! But super stoked for you to get back out with the luxury of a finished conversion. I can’t wait to see what my new van will be like when I’ve finished it. I’m at the very beginning stages of doing a up a big Vauxhall Movano now 😳

    Hi, loved the video my partner and I are doing the NC500 in the next coming weeks and loved the look of where you spent your first night, do you know the coordinates or know roughly where you stayed in the Loch Lomond & The Trossachs National Park
    Many thanks

    • @vanvistas
      @vanvistas  3 роки тому +1

      Hey! We actually spent the first night in the three lochs, our spot was one of the first into the park. They’re all numbered and lettered when you book, but it was the first loch. The first place in the video though, if that’s the one you mean, I think was Milarrochy Bay (just having a quick look on the map) if you drive up the east side of Loch Lomond you eventually come to a dead end and it was one of the little car parks on the way. I don’t know if you can stay overnight, but there were certainly one or two tents on the beach when we were there. Have an awesome trip!

    video great. do you have the route and places you visited as i'm going up there later this year in my VW van called Olive

    • @vanvistas
      @vanvistas  3 роки тому +1

      If you google the north coast 500 it’ll give you the exact map and we pretty much followed it exactly, but we started in Ullapool (coming back from the Outer Hebrides) and didn’t quite go down as far as Inverness on the east coast (although that is where lots of people go dolphin spotting) we decided to cut across a little higher up to go to the falls of shin to see the salmon leaping, which was so quiet when we went, we were the only people there, and it was one of our highlights. We just looked at google maps as we went and if we saw a beach or something we liked the look of, we went a little off-route. I’ve written the names of almost every single place we went on the bottom left of the screen in the video 😊 there are a couple of NC500 Facebook groups that might give you some inspiration too. I hope you have an awesome trip!

    How did you find good places to stop for overnight stays? Did you drive onto grass well off the road? :)

    • @vanvistas
      @vanvistas  3 роки тому +1

      You can find a lot of good spots on the app Park4night. But we use google maps a lot too and just scour the area we’re in or heading to for common land, woodland and quite lay-bys etc
