  • Bohemian Rhapsody is a new from Director Bryan SInger...that he didn't finish because he's a crazy person. The movie is about the iconic band Queen and is boring.

As a teacher, this is what I always told my students during story-writing lessons, 'Make sure you are writing a story not a report. If I can turn your 'story' into a report and copy down the facts easily on a piece of paper in a chronological order, it's not a story, and I am not accepting it.' By God, my grade-4 students wrote gripping stories and characters that made me cry. They would write a better script tbh. Also 5:18 was utter cringe. Not how Freddie would have said this.

@@ShhmiaASMR I don't like arguing just for the sake of it, but I honestly think that *real longtime Queen fans* would have loved hearing such early obscure tracks in the film. Moreover, their inclusion would've captured the spirit of the 70's of which Queen were most representative of. Yes, the 70's, not the 80's! This movie was obviously done for commercial purposes only, mostly to attract potential new younger fans/buyers. The fact that *half* the band members were involved in it doesn't change that fact.

the one thing that PISSED ME OFF about this movie is how the crowd at live aid looked. every single person "dressed for the 80s" looked exactly the same and they look like they came from a decades party. not every in the 80s wore the same thing.

The movie is just very superficial...that's what bothers everyone, it doesn't go deep into the bands history, it doesn't go deep into their music(a couple montages here and there), doesn't go deep into the bandmate's lives, we could say it KINDA goes deep into Freddie's loneliness and sexual orientation but that's it. Also it wasn't even close to accurate in terms of the bands history in the last third of the movie. Rami Malik was EXCEPTIONAL AS FREDDIE BTW. The guy rocked it and the whole band too, but there is no substance or depth to this movie.

@Tom Sacks That's because the film changed the history of the band and made the Live Aid performance a reunion where Freddie was out of practice when in actuality they had toured during most of the previous year. If you watch the movie and actual concert side by side there is no hesitation at all with Freddie like in the movie.

There are a lot of issues I have with this film despite being only a mild fan of the band. Most scenes felt contrived, and set up way too perfectly to make their story a typical Hollywood rise to fame type film. For example, Freddie running into the bandmates in an alley, singing a bit for them and becoming their new singer when in reality they were friends for years before the founding of Queen. Sadly, the film felt more like the Mark Wahlberg film Rock Star in this regard. Second, the film plays up way too much Queen's impact on the music scene. I mean, they were huge in the 70's, there is no denying that, but if this film is to be believed Freddie invented Glam Rock and they were the very first band to have a long single and to use various styles of music in their song when in reality, glam rock was already huge before Queen thanks to David Bowie, Alice Cooper, New York Dolls, ect, and experimental music was huge in the 1970's. They even mention Dark Side of the Moon, an album with the single Us and Them clocking at almost 8 minutes in the very same scene a producer complains about Bohemian Rhapsody being 6 minutes in length without anybody bringing up this obvious discrepancy.
I liked Malek's performance, but was perplexed by the need to use an obvious prosthetic to give him an overbite like Freddy when the actor already has a slight overbite, making his much worse than the person he was supposed to be playing.

I hate how people watch the movie and just think they’re real fans when that’s the only knowledge of Queen they have. My best friend met someone who “liked” Queen and when she told him how great of a singer Freddie was, and they asked her who he was. Now that’s sad. I also saw someone myself that thought that all Queen songs were by the movie, and Queen was not a real band. Not to mention the fact that the video I commented on was misleading. It had “Bohemian Rhapsody” in the title but so Queen songs or the song itself was even in the video.”, just K-Pop. I called them out asking why it was in the title and the person that replied to me said I was the fake fan. I replied saying that Queen was a real band, and Bohemian Rhapsody was a song way before the shitty movie but they haven’t replied since. That’s why I hate the movie so much. It took things out of context and now they poisoned the Queen fandom.

If you want to watch a movie about a fictional queen then Bohemian Rhapsody is for you! Agree man. The whole movie seems like a stich up of Queen songs with a little background story behind them. There is no real drive and have seen better documentaries about Queen and Freddie Mercury. They even messed up the timeline by making it seem like We Will Rock You was composed in the 80s when Freddie was already heavily sporting a moustache. Probably on purpose but it makes no sense why they would purposely create such a weird mix up. They didn't really know how to end the movie so they basically made the ending almost as long as the real Live Aid performance. I actually wanted to find the real Queen Live Aid and rewatch that instead. Terrible film, a master piece of crap.

    • @SamanthaGuttesen
      @SamanthaGuttesen 3 роки тому

Because, Sacha knew that, it was Brian May pulling the strings, and the script was done to tarnish Freddies image, and portray the others as angels in comparison. OK the film we have is bland, but there are blatant lies in the script. OK artistic can be used, but don't paint Freddie as a manager sacking, party first, Queen second, and band breaking up artist. There are quite a few people who believe that Brian May has grudges over Freddies fame, although he was talented in his own right. Smile was Brian and Rogers band, but the name Queen and the logo was all Freddie. Ask the casual music fan, who do you think of when you mention Queen, it'll be Freddie. Of course he mourned his friend, but now Brian is in charge, just like he always wanted.

  • @makemarker

Rami did the best he could but yet I believe it wasn't a part suited for him. He does sort of have that Freddie exotic look but only because of his Egyptian origins. He didn't really get Freddies manerisms or accent, after all Freddie was a Parsi of Indian origin from Zanzibar and schooled in India. Rami seemed almost like a pharaoh in his stance "no pun intended". If you look at Freddie in his private videos or interviews, he was very delicate and only mildly sarcastic, not very fierce looking and rigid but at the same time strong, charismatic. I think Rami is a good actor just not for this part. Personally, I am convinced that Sasha Baron Cohen would have nailed Freddies part and being British, would have also nailed Freddie's speech. Have a look at that Australian, Freddie impersonator that acted in a recent documentary about Freddie, he got Freddies mannerism almost perfect and even looks a lot more like Freddie than Rami. The guy who played Brian May was actually the best resemblance to an original band member and even sounds like Brian. Freddies Irish boyfriend nailed his small part in the film too.

Bohemian Rhapsody brung a whole new generation to Queen. Also Rami ,Joe ,Gwillm ,and Ben did an amazing job portraying the band. Sure it didn’t show every little thing about Queen but half the people watching the movie knew the whole storyline, and people who didn’t know Queens story found out the storyline. People really just need to stop nit picking everything, It’s extremely rude for the people who made this movie and the actors, because not everyone knows how hard they worked to even make this movie happen if you want to know since 2015 or 2014. The producer and the editor even spoke out that they wish they could have gone back and fixed everything the vid spoke about. I’ve also heard some people saying that they cut to short between shots, the editors had to give 5 second screen time for each person, and you were saying that the movie was bloated and overlong they have millions of deleted scenes due to that they didn’t want to make the movie boring or over long and dramatic.

Now that's not to say Freddy didn't have HIV, in fact it's very likely he did have the virus, but AIDS is a very slow progressive disease, even after the initial infection, patients usually didn't develop symptoms for 8 to 10 years.

Oh, and: "You're a legend, freddie." into "We're all legends." *barf*

One of the few good things that came out of the movie was the soundtrack cd. Finally a queen album that has the hits. You don't have to have a collection that has "Don't stop me now" and something like "I'm in love with my car."

I really should watch it. However it's the truncation of time that puts me off,and I do realise it's for dramatic effect, but for me personally that's usually why I stick to documentarys.
I might get around to it one day it's that suspension of belief which is ok for fiction but I can't seen to do with historical films you know where America finds enigma device or how cowardly crew members shot passengers.

The worst thing about this movie is, that those 12 year olds are thinking that Queen is the only band in the galaxy and Freddie the perfect "God" Don't get me wrong. Queen is great, but got overrated because of that.

I quite enjoyed to see the movie but I can see how hardcore and devoted fans of the band feel like this is as not great. So I will say as a mildish fan who enjoys and loves to listen that yes i enjoyed and probably would watch it again but I will not force it on someone who is strong about their opinion.
Also it could be glossed due to only two ( from what I heard ) members of the band being involved so not all is true, just true to them.
Hope you all are safe and good and have a lovely day 😁

Say what you will about the movie and its historical inaccuracies or band breakup/reunion cliches (which never even actually happened), but for me personally this movie was a big deal. I was excited to see it, and when I came out of the theaters, that was the moment I knew, I was a rock 'n' roller. And once you're in it, you're in it for life.

Guanglai Kangyi, Age 15 I have seen The Wall movies, they’re great. I’d like to see a movie that starts with the Syd Barrett years and continues to show his mental downturn, and the movie would show the band continuing, and attaining success with the release of DSOTM. But the movie could end with the making of the Wish You Were Here album and with Syd Barrett’s shocking return. Or, the whole movie could be about the creative difficulties of making the Wish You Were Here album, because that was really the last album where every band member had input, so it was THE turning point for the band.

the movie was more about Freddie then the actual band that's why its more about him. while I would have rather seen a movie about all of them, 100% thought the movie I think this movie is fine!
