The worst thing is they never broke up. The works tour 2nd leg ended in may 85. Live aid was 2 months later, not 2 years. And it was absolutely ridiculous to "fudge" so many facts and events in Freddie's life then have Malek recreate every tiny move Freddie made on stage during live aid. Freddie is quoted as telling Jim Beech "you can do anything with my life/legacy but don't make me boring". He should have instructed Beech to not make him look PATHETIC which is exactly what this crappy film did.
listen to the music then on its own..no need to for a biopic that was terrible. If you take out the music what do you have? Poorly acted movie that is boring.
They completely ignored the Magic Tour in Eastern Europe, and most of the Japanese and South American concerts. These were groundbreaking events because very few bands had done concerts there before. The band did argue at times, but there was no breakup or threats of going solo. The movie did not mention the last four albums at all if I recall.
The film's timeline is 1970-1985, from their formation up until Live Aid. Personally I wish we got a version of the film or a sequel that went up to 1991 (or, alternatively, upto the Made In Heaven album from 1995)
Thank you! Thank you again! My thought at the time, was don’t these filmmakers have access to Wikipedia, at the very least?! My 12 year old son, who was getting into Queen at the time, noticed some chronology errors, and he’s not the detail nerd that I am. They had good casting and the approval of Roger and Brian and they just got lazy with the rest.
In terms of historical accuracy it's almost completely ficticious, however what bugs me the most is Malek's performance as Freddie. In some scenes he is very good (like keep yourself alive song), but overall he misses the point. Freddy Mercury in private life and Freddy Mercury on stage were completely different people. In Malek's performance they are one and the same. And add to that that Mercury was a masculine guy. Malek makes him a stereotypical, sometimes to dangerously close to parody, effeminate homosexual.
Also Roger Taylor used Paiste cymbals up through 1982. Didn’t use Zildjian until 1984 and went back to Paiste for a year in 1988-89. Freddie Mercury was a nonsmoker until he started in 1980. Brian (Star Fleet Project) and Roger each released solo albums before Freddie made his. Also Queen had a separate manager in the States being Jack Nelson (they parted ways amicably and was interviewed in the band’s official 1995 documentary Champions of the World to promote the Made in Heaven album).
I don’t think that all these little things you found really matter that much other than how they resembled Freddie in the movie. But the movie overall inspired me to listen to queen more.
Screenplays adhere to a fairly strict three-act format with events that generally happen at a certain number of minutes into the movie. The biggest problem with trying to make a movie based on a real band or person is that real life NEVER plays out exactly like a screenplay demands it to. That is why stretching the truth for drama's sake happens in virtually every movie based on real people and events, and why documentaries are the only type of film to watch if you want accuracy. That said, as a Queen fan and someone who is generally forgiving about the inaccuracy of biopics, I was pretty disgusted by how far off so many things were in this movie. It was hard to watch.
If you have not yet viewed the film Bohemian Rhapsody, I highly recommend it. It is an exceptional biographical film that chronicles the journey of the legendary rock band Queen and their charismatic lead vocalist, Freddie Mercury. This cinematic masterpiece is not only a must-see for queen enthusiasts but also for anyone who appreciates music. Queen holds a unique distinction in rock and roll history, as each member of the band has composed a number one hit single. The decision to portray Freddie Mercury in a positive light in the recent biopic was a deliberate choice made by the band and the film's producers. This decision was made with the intention of introducing Queen's music to a new generation of fans rather than focusing on the more controversial aspects of Mercury's personal life. The band felt that this approach would allow a wider audience to appreciate and enjoy Queen's music for the first time.
"Is this the real life? Is this just fantasy?" CLEARLY, IT WAS JUST FANTASY!! 😤😤😤😤 Was pretty disappointed by this film. Worst of all, people who watch it, often THINK it's factual! For instance, I had a friend ask me: do you know why they did Live Aid? Because Freddie was diagnosed with aids. WHAT!? He was diagnosed two years after live aid! 😤😤 Not okay to just change facts like that without a disclaimer.
I didn't pay much attention to the sequence of concerts and events, although it really felt from the very beginning of the movie that they took, say, a creative license. Instead I went for the music. Long time I hadn't listened to Queen and each new song I was like "ah yeah that's true, they also came up with that one". They tried to recreate the ambiance of their shows, I think they did that right. They nailed the live aid concert (I am talking about the performance itself, not the context). So all in all, fantastic music, good actor performance, questionable directing choices... I still had a good time.
10:30 I loved the movie and being a huge Queen fan I did see some mistakes but I know movies take what they call “artistic license “ to make the movie work. Queens longevity could never fit into a 2 hour movie so I believe this is why movies get made this way. Don’t forget Brian May was one of the producers on the movie so I’m sure he knew some of the inconsistencies. Still a great movie!
Why is nobody talking about the fact that in the scene where Freddie plays at Live Aid Bohemian Rhapsody instead of pressing the Bb octave he presses the G octave?
Let Freddie Mercury's Spirit Rest In Peace!! All This Turmoil Now, 31 Years After He Passed Away, Is Wrong. If There Were Any Controversies, They Should Have Been Addressed, While Freddie Was Still Alive!! This Is Very Wrong, To Smear Freddie's Name, And Queen's Too. And To Degrade Freddie's Character, And His Personal Life!! If He Had Been Anyone Else, All This Rubbish Would Not Be Spread All Over UA-cam. And Why Are So Many People Dissecting And Degrading Bohemian Rhapsody For Anyway?? All The People Who Did This, Are You Perfect?? Freddie Mercury, Was A Human Being, Like All Of Us Are. Facts are a problem, but this still is a cinematographic masterpiece and still one of the best movies I've ever watched, with also one of the best soundtracks ever
It really doesn't matter to me what they got wrong. The movie was about four very talented band members and the great music they made not a documentary. I really enjoyed this movie.
This video made no sense like the point of the movie wasn’t to make a documentary it was to have some fun make drama and just make Freddie happy. U can say all u want about oh Freddie would be so disappointed but no he wouldn’t he would love it even if the dates of the music were wrong. He did say I don’t care what u do with my music just don’t make it boring. And fun that movie was I old people just need to relax learn to enjoy some music. Freddie was mega awesome, but they should have got one of our Bollywood actors to play him. We have some great actors who would have been perfect.. Rami was good, but a Bollywood actor could have brought real magic to the film. That's what Bollywood actors do.
Not a Queen fan but I believe it is important not to rewrite history. A similar thing has happened with Pistol, the series about the Sex Pistols. Looks like lots of liberties have been taken with this Queen biopic. I thought Mr. May was an executive producer, so it's a bit baffling. My bro' is the Queen fan and I'll ask him what he thinks when he sees it.
@@stephaniesawake5799 like 495221 other channels made a video like this, think of some normal content instead of something thats Ben done too many times..
The movie is really great, but looking at some aspects it looks like it was written in a hurry. For example- Freddie found out about his illness only in the spring of 1987, but I understand that the film had to be made more dramatic ;) Plus my little digression. Maybe not so imprtant, but... ;) In the scene where Freddie shows Roger around his house, he asks him to stay for dinner. He apologizes, saying he has to get back to his wife and children. It's 1980, so Roger and Dominique weren't married yet, and besides, their first child, son Feliks, was born in the same year ;)
The movie got a lot wrong, hugely attributed to it basically being a PG-13 “family-friendly”Queen commercial. Honestly, I’m glad this exists rather than not. It got a lot of people into Queen and potentially paves the way for a much more provocative and raw look at Freddie’s life to be made later.
This movie was a Royal Bohemian turd wrapped in tin foil and reheated for mass consumption. Borat should have played Freddie. He would have captured Freddie's impeccable sense of humour and timing no doubt
I think the movie missed the mark. Freddie was a relatively private and shy person. He had a different personality on the stage. The movie did not distinguish the difference. Also Freddie was a chain smoker and you didn't see that much in the movie. He was also known for his generosity and that was left out as well.
I've never seen this movie, and now knowing there are so many errors in it, what's the point in seeing it? I'd rather watch a documentary on the band instead. Besides, nobody could play Mercury better than Mercury himself. God rest his soul.
I did love the film, but feel like Freddie was played as a lot more flamboyant and diva-like than he really was. I obviously never knew Freddie but in all his interviews he seems extremely humble and just nice. Im not sure he was played quite as he should have been, but i think this was down to the writing more than the actor. It is quite shocking though how many things the film got wrong, considering Brian May was executive producer and him and Roger were jnvolved in the film!! I just dont get it!!
I understand not showing the promiscuity but it should’ve at the very least been referenced more I mean jeez there’s literally an interview where he’s asked ‘do you have any hobbies?’ And he replied ‘yeah a lot of sex’ I honestly think Malek could’ve said that line perfectly and made it just as funny as when Mercury actually said it
Watching the movie now and watching old interviews with Brian May and Roger Taylor and finding inaccuracies in the movie. If I saw this video first, I would have skipped the movie. It goes down from 5 stars to 2 stars for being factually inaccurate.

Never let the truth get in the way of a good story
There may be a number of mistakes in the movie ....but so what. ..the important thing is.... their music was there and it sounded great..
listen to the music then on its own..no need to for a biopic that was terrible. If you take out the music what do you have? Poorly acted movie that is boring.
You didn't call out the aids... diagnosis..in 85....he got diagnosed in 87!!
It's called artistic license and combining events for time.
@@theaterpup3466 but he got aids in 87 NOT 85!
And they certainly did not break up in 84.
@@dylanrinker6831 It's called artistic license and combining events for time.
TheaterPup it’s called you have no argument and spam the same crap in dishonest defense of your precious movie.
Personally I wish we got a version of the film or a sequel that went up to 1991 (or, alternatively, upto the Made In Heaven album from 1995)
Wrong or not wrong.... . Something is not like reality, o.k. but
this movie entertained.
Rami, Gwilym, Ben and Joe did perfect jobs.
Yes. I have read that and the BCC biography about Queen, Brian did state that.
According to a blog on the Mercury Phoenix Trust site, "Freddie had never used intravenous drugs" so why show a clip of someone drawing up a needle?
When was that?
@@theaterpup3466 0.54 when it's talking about Freddie's drug use and promiscuity. It's misleading.
@@trishbelfield5941 You’re right, this video is being misleading.
@@theaterpup3466the movie is more misleading this video. This movie got almost nothing right about Mercury
Excellent commentary!!!!
Thank you for doing this 💘 ☺️

@@micheleduval3993 My informed opinion. :)
The cat in this video was Tiffany.... not Delilah. Just so you know.
these movies are just to get new fans and old fans excited not to make it just like it actaully happened
Well maybe they wanted the movie to be shorter thats why they didnt make the full detail about queen
another thing they got wrong was Freddie's aids diagnosis. the year was wrong
It's called artistic license and combining events for time.
Expert opinions of qualified experts aged 10 to 15 years. It's funny to read those comments. Freddie had a good time too.
Right?!
I have noticed, since the movie The Doors, movie industries have been trying to make good movies based on a band and or musicians life and history.
great video
I found the movie too hard to watch. It made Freddie look like a stupid, confused clown. I walked out early on.
Not sure what movie you saw.
Yep the real life story was better than the movie.
Is this just fantasy?"
CLEARLY, IT WAS JUST FANTASY!! 😤😤😤😤
Was pretty disappointed by this film.
Worst of all, people who watch it, often THINK it's factual! For instance, I had a friend ask me: do you know why they did Live Aid? Because Freddie was diagnosed with aids.
WHAT!? He was diagnosed two years after live aid! 😤😤
Not okay to just change facts like that without a disclaimer.
Yes I enjoyed this video as it’s close to how I felt about the film. Seems a shame they changed so many things
I don't care, I love the movie. Whoever isn't content should create their own "perfect" movie
Silly comment for so many reasons.
Brian said they wanted also to make a movie not a biography so some things were changed.
Who cares - it’s a great movie about a great band.
And We All Have Sinned, And We Do Everyday!! God Says, Judge Not Lest Ye Be Judged. God Also Tells Us, Take The Plank Out Of Your Own Eye, Before You Remove The Splinter Out Of Your Brother's Eye. Facts are a problem, but this still is a cinematographic masterpiece and still one of the best movies I've ever watched, with also one of the best soundtracks ever
Ok but some of the timeline stuff I can see why they cut and spliced some things together for time
Just imagine the band recording We Will Rock You, with Mercury displaying short hair and moustache, it's beyond absurd!
Don’t like it watch a documentary about queen
With all these changes, it makes me feel that the keytar was on purpose.
… it’s hilarious how the first fact = Bryan Singer was removed from set.
Movie came out almost 3 years ago and now u gonna make a video about it 🤦♂️🤦♂️ right on time
Why not ....
@@stephaniesawake5799 like 495221 other channels made a video like this, think of some normal content instead of something thats Ben done too many times..
Why does this all matter anyway. The point of this movie wasn’t a history class. It was just a movie
My comment is just basic Freddie had brown eyes and Rami hasblue eyes that is the only one that I saw, the test w as entertainment 💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜
adjusting the DI with the wrong hand at Live Aid is a cardinal sin for me
Also, the actor playing Freddie did not replicate Freddie's distinctive walk and mannerisms. Freddie used the word " darling" frequently.
The movie is really great, but looking at some aspects it looks like it was written in a hurry.
For example- Freddie found out about his illness only in the spring of 1987, but I understand that the film had to be made more dramatic ;)
Plus my little digression.
I can't even bring myself to watch the movie, never have and never will !
It's really baddd tho and maybe fanservice
Actually I wish I never saw this movie its horrible and depressing
The actor who plays Brian May looks like him
I did love the film, but feel like Freddie was played as a lot more flamboyant and diva-like than he really was.
They already messed up the start when not giving Sasha Baron Cohen the part.
Well my wife and I thoroughly enjoyed the film.
Whatever still an awesome movie!! so much was done right.
I spottet the Roland AX-1 in the movie and it kinda shocked me how lazy the details where.
I understand not showing the promiscuity but it should’ve at the very least been referenced more I mean jeez there’s literally an interview where he’s asked ‘do you have any hobbies?’ And he replied ‘yeah a lot of sex’ I honestly think Malek could’ve said that line perfectly and made it just as funny as when Mercury actually said it
The film only has half of radio gaga in live aid!!!
the problem with this movie is that they didn't care at all about what to do in the movie
Mnenje bi moral podati tudi John,ki bi sigurno želel resnico.
Watching the movie now and watching old interviews with Brian May and Roger Taylor and finding inaccuracies in the movie.
If I saw this video first, I would have skipped the movie. It goes down from 5 stars to 2 stars for being factually inaccurate.
Resurch is a good idea.
