Life is like a rollercoaster always better when we do it together! Go Smallbone family! Powerful story! So many good takeaways here: Love the "head and the heart" expression of heart change with your father. "Spiritually attacks - leaning on people", "Your family being your team" and "We are not made to do life alone". Adding "Unsung Hero" to my must-watch list for the family. This movie sounds like a heart warmer! Very powerful.. Definitely be checking this out!💓

Loved Unsung Hero! I was so moved when I watched how beautiful Erica St Jame’s voice was and how incredible her mom was he!

I grew up listening to RSJ as a teenager in the late 90’s early 2000’s. And once Joel and Luke came on the scene I make it a thing to include them in my music listening.

Love hearing him talk about his family. Funny thing is, I have 5 boys and 1 girl who is the youngest. But we call her our warrior princess because she is tough as nails, yet she is very girly and tender at the same time.

I agree! If everyone had his outlook on being a parent and his love for his family, the world would be a better place. Or at least a very good start. We live in such a broken society 🙏🏻

Goodness!! This was such a great and full conversation! I had tears on and off listening to the mothering advice and just the parenting bigness and flawed people we are as parents. Man! I want my kids to look back and feel that I was there for them. Just do the next thing, pray for joy, go for walks and enjoy the simple things to just be with my kids, Gods in control, and so much more touched my heart and encouraged me today! Candice you are amazing and such a light! Just love your podcast so much and soak in all the wisdom. Luke is such a refreshing soul. Your friendship is an example of brothers and sisters in Christ.

Candace you are a beautiful person. Just wanted to let you know how much your podcast has helped me through difficult times of loneliness and trying to find joy in the mundane routines of life. I want to do more volunteer time in whatever ministry God would have me be a part of. Thank you Luke for your life advice. I have loved your family ever since I became a fan of Rebecca St.James music in the 90’s when I was in my teens. Her music along with being a part of the church helped me through a lot of depression I had relating to seeing how broken my family was. I’m so happy for you and your brother to be in music together living life with your own family. God bless you all. I enjoy seeing where God is taking you in your journey.❤🙏

Absolutely love what you said about spending quality time together with your children! Agree 100 percent it's in the day to day, quiet "doing things" together that creates the best intentional time together!

Sometimes, we just have to let go and stay silent because some people won't listen if we come to them with honest thoughts and feelings. If people don't listen, we still have to try to set boundaries, but staying quiet is sometimes the most godly thing we can do. If a person isn't humble and takes responsibility for their actions and words, we have to put them in God's hands.

"I'm not very concerned about how you behave when things are going your way. I'm VERY concerned about how you behave when things are NOT going your way."
Love this for parenting! I also think this is something God's working on with me. I've been telling my child for years, "Focus on the positives instead of what you don't like. Choose to be thankful instead of miserable." Now I find myself stuck in a situation that I don't like, and I'm struggling everyday to follow that advice!

It was the opposite for me & my middle brother. He is 10 years older than me. He was kind of a father figure to me when I was young, then he left to get married when I 12 & didn't have much to do with each other for years, when we did talk we got along fairly well, then when I was in my 30s I took care of my mom after a stroke & a bout of colon cancer for 10 years, then he volunteered to keep our mother when she became terminal, I would visit & helped out, our relationship was a bit strained but we got along okay, then after I became independent & learned to do what I needed to do, our relationship disintegrated further, when I became homebound due to health issues & we were talking more, our relationship just kept disintegrating until in the last couple of years, we can't communicate with each other.

This movie was beautifully made but I was just so saddened by the statement being shoved down my throat by having a female pastor in the movie and what seemed like all female leadership. Why? Are we trying to appease the world now?
