Her switching to a more lyrical tone in the "...centuries in a lifetime" part to go easier on the belting and spare her voice is so seamless and skillful...! Anneke is hands down, TO THIS DAY, one of the best metal lead singers out there.
That says alot because there is so, so much talent from that country and IMO, as an American, the best female talent in both rock and metal in other genres as well comes from The Netherlands. Anneke is my favorite but love Floor, Simone, Sharon and others as well.
to me this song is timeless, i saw her perform here a in 1997-1998 one or 2 year after her debut on pinkpop, a friend of mine had their cd and he frequently played a few songs of it, when he told me they would perform in our town, i thought we have to hear/see this live, damn fucking awesome, this song is still one of my favorite metal songs to hear and brings back memories.
Each year voice continues being even so more amazing. Plus, she's gorgeous. One day, we'll perform same show than 2 ships at night. Sorry my uh English is meh

I still feel that some time in this decade that Anneke will return to the Gathering for one more new record and one more tour with this new record. Time will tell.
RB Bisc I just watched the 1996 concert and it's really interesting to see what improves with technique and skill and what the singer chooses to keep as part of that song's identity.

She actually needs to articulate/move her mouth so she can perform different sounds, you know? A real lead singer does this techinque. I found her spectacular in her tunes by the way.
