There are swathes of private language centers in Vietnam still hiring those who don't hold a bachelors. And it's still possible to attain a work permit, providing you're willing to pay the 'under the table' fees to the department of labor. I know this new decree came out roughly two months ago stating that ESL teachers need to have a BA. But there's a lot of confusion as to what has actually changed. Prior to the decree it was already law that those teaching had to have a BA, yet there were (and still are) huge numbers of people teaching in Vietnam without a degree.

Hi. I have a position in Vietnam and will be moving in late March. I previously taught in China. Near the end of this video you mention that if my TEFL is from a UK company, it will need to be authenticated in the UK. This was definitely the case when getting my China authentications. However, I think the Vietnamese embassy in the US is doing me a favor and authenticating it here in the US. I just received my FedEx notification that my package has been shipped back to me from the embassy. I will receive it by Monday and hopefully they authenticated all 3 docs, including the UK TEFL. I had asked the embassy rep this very question and he told me to send him the UK TEFL and he would see what he could do. He never contacted me to say he could not do it, so my fingers are crossed.

Hi Ninja Teacher, most of your responses represent South of Vietnam. I think it would also be nice if you could introduce North of Vietnam since your titles indicate Vietnam in general.

Hi @Ninja Teacher, I have a question! I want to improve my nerves when public speaking in front of people, and I also would like to try and get into teaching which could be a good way to tackle that fear. If I was to take an internship to Vietnam and work in a school, would I get support with my social anxiety and public speaking fear in any way, and would the schools help me out to try and ease me in? I am really trying to better myself and beat that fear, it stops me from doing so much. Thanks!

Basically if you’re Asian American your chance of getting hire is slim to none. 🤷‍♀️ that’s my guess knowing how close minded Vietnamese are.
I have never visit Vietnam because I’m scare of food poisoning, robbery, high chance of traffic accident, doctors with no degree🤯 am I terrible …oh and I heard communist workers in airport, cops, etc will give Viet Kieu (Vietnamese American) a hard time and will try their best to put you in jail etc etc
At least they worship white people over there tho you guys are being treated like God y’all really have the best of both world.
