It was so fun meeting Jessica and learning what her role in the company is. Thanks for the lesson on Batiks I have never made a quilt using them and now I can’t wait. The backing ideas is great too
Hi Jessica! You IM me when I had a friendship star pattern question… thank you for that… Fabric Cafe team is very friendly and helpful… thanks for being there for all of us!
Way back in 2012, I made a kit with batiks. Back then I thought batiks looked like tie-dye fabrics. Designers have really changed the looks of batiks nowadays. So many beautiful colors with designs. Thank you Donna and Jessica for showing us these beautiful batik quilts! As always, I enjoyed watching your video!
Thanks for the video! The 1st time I saw Batiks I was in love. I am working on a scrappy quilt of medium and dark Batiks in purple, pink ,blue, greens, teal and its easy and fun. I have some wild Batiks I had bought years ago that are now aprons!
Beautiful sets of batiks. I was also worried about using batiks when I first saw them years ago. Being softer fabrics than the regular quilting cottons, I didn't like mixing them in the same quilt. Good tips about pre-washing.👍🇦🇺
Your staff is so cute everyone. I love that you share them with us. I have really enjoyed batiks lately there are so many choices now. Thank you. Be safe and stay healthy.
Lovely quilts! You two seem to enjoy all you do! PLEASE show every backing thats available for each quilt. I purchased a kit and need to see the backing options so I know if it will match where I plan to place it Many thanks Cath J
Jessica was so helpful when I placed my order. The red listed for the kit wasn't available and she was able to substitute another color (since she knows all the inventory!) right on the phone. Great customer service!
I would like to choose the fabric instead of buying kits.what should i do you have lovely material i like so many of the designes do you sale the material by the yard oany other way to build a stash etc
Do you have tips for someone who hasn't worked with Batiks much? More on the actual sewing side of Batiks for quilting. Like needle/thread/stitch length? Any advice or tips would be greatly appreciated. Thank you. I have been enjoying your videos.
Hi Karen! I love using batiks in my quilts! Batik fabrics have a unique "hand" to them for dreamy piecing. I prefer using a size 70 needle on all of my quilting projects. I always start a batik project with a fresh needle, so it's nice and sharp. I use a stitch length of 2.5. As far as which side is the right side of a batik? Your choice! Most batiks look the same on both sides, some have more intense color on one side than the other. Either can be used. - Fran
@@FabricCafe thank you so much for responding to me Fran. This is very helpful! I will be starting a quilt in a few days using Batiks & a fabric panel. I’m nervous & excited at the same time. I just ordered one of your books too. I’m anxious to give these 3 yard quilts a try. 🤗

I watch all these videos and have learned a lot about picking fabrics but when I go on and try to find the kits I never can, why?
I would like to file a complaint -- I want to watch a new episode EVERYDAY! I keep waiting for the new ones - lol
Do you have any Halloween 🎃 fabric? Another great video. I would love to see all the backings of the quilts.
Hello Jessica and Hannah!!!
Is the background a 108” fabric.
Could you explain what type of fabric Bates is
Sorry my spelling isn't good. Batiks
Do you actually any kind of store front?
Do you have a tutorial in which you show how to make a queen quilt?
No I don't, but the books have the instructions. Donna
Í ádore batiks
I hope this is good quality fabric
Only the best! Donna
Bring back Jessica 😊
Because Jessica has 18 month old twins, she only works two days a week. It's hard to schedule her in for a video. Donna
75% of my fabric stash consists of batiks.
