Rebecca Jones hey Rebecca, how better was lexapro for you ?, what dosage were you on ?, what changes have you seen with taking lexapro.
I just started taking it today, so any advice or helpful words ?😩😕

Shy-Ann B. It seems to make it easier for me to do things for myself. I still get low feelings, but I don't stay in them as long.
Depression messes up my sleeping and digestion, and I felt some relief from those symptoms. Again, not 100%, but somewhat better.
The only side effect I have is yawning a lot. It is not so much drowsy, but just a feeling like I need to stretch and get some air when I have been sitting too long.
I think overall the medication helps me with courage to do what I know I need to do, and helps me separate the thoughts of a failed action from being a failure as a person. I feel like trying again rather than just giving up.

Thank you for your post. I have suffered my whole life with anxiety and agitation. I always thought it was just a short fuse that I was born with. My wife and I had a heated argument and she did some digging online and found out this may be the case. I spoke with my doctor and based on the initial questions she made the diagnosis that I'm also slightly depressed. I was prescribed Lexipro to help me with this. I have not started it yet as I was just diagnosed today. I am worried about taking any kind of medication but your video has helped put me at ease. Thank you.

@@mamat1213 I've noticed I still have some anxiety, but it's been more manageable. My wife says she's noticed a significant change for the better. My doc says it's normal for me to grind my teeth at night (just me getting used to normal serotonin levels I guess). With allergy season here, I noticed it makes it harder to get out of bed because I'm taking zyrtec. That'll stop soon though. It appears to be that everything is easier for me to manage and not have such a short fuse. I hope that answers your question.

Hey, I just saw your comment. I took Lexapro and it REALLY helped me in the beginning. I seriously sounded EXACTLY like her when I said I felt like a whole new person, this was my miracle drug, etc. I then proceeded to continue the dose for 4 years. Just be your own advocate and don't stay on it as long as I did. She's right when she says it helps with every day tasks, like mornings!... But you can become numb. I don't have good memory from that time and I stayed in a job that wasn't challenging me, etc. Psych meds are a blessing, but I have mixed feelings about this one now that I'm looking back.

Lexapro is probably one of the safest, most easily tolerated, and easy to taper off of meds on the market for sure.
Its an SSRI (Selective Serotonin Re-uptake Inhibitor), just like Prozac, paxil, celexa, etc..
Its side effect profile is also very small and well tolerated among many populations and cultures.
Glad it helped you, and you seem very happy, joyous, and positive. It has also helped me TREMENDOUSLY in my life and thankfully hasnt given any too bad sexual side effects like many other ssri's tend to do, (im a male) so its kinda important lol, god bless all

denice tapper definitely let your doctor know of any side effects too! I’ve been on lexapro for (about) 2 years now. I’ve been on 15 my for the last year, my dose gradually changed until I was on 20 and eventually I was able to get down to 15 mg, but when I very first started at 5mg it made me sick. I told my dr about my side effects and they had me go on 2.5 mg until I was able to go back up. This varies a lot person to person though so definitely consult your doctor first, every time, about side effects or before you change your dosage.

I'm glad you're doing well. I'm 48 am handling my depression on my own because I can't tolerate any medications. It is exhausting, a lot of work and full time job. Also rewarding because I have learned so much about myself. There is no shame whatsoever in being on medication for life. Therapy should be a lifelong practice. Every single person, not matter how normal they think they are, should be in therapy. We will be learning lessons and hopefully experiencing growth as long as we are here. PS, I'm also from Florida, lived in LA for 25 years and consider London a 2nd home of sorts, back in FL taking care of my health. LA is where my heart is, but it is a very hard place and it's easy to get caught up in not feeling like you're enough. Keep taking care of yourself :)

SiLLy SaNdMaN No, because things happen that aren’t always in our control. So sometimes we need outside sources to help. Like going to a tutor when you’re not doing well in class. Or getting a trainer when you aren’t losing weight at the gym. We have the science now to fix thing in the body and mind.

    • @BelieverOrDisciple
      @BelieverOrDisciple 6 років тому +3

hellboyjv3 hellboyjv3 who ever said life was supposed to be inside of our control - someone who believes life is supposed to be under our control is mislead....the mindset needs to change. Everyone wants their “perfect” life tailored to their liking, IN REALITY, that’s not how it works. Life’s not a Disney movie. People take pills (I am speaking to myself also I’ve taken lots) to change their realities. Call it good, I call it sick Someone who has built up negative emotions which is hurting them needs to address them (and learn how), not take pills. That won’t fix the problem, it’ll mask it and paint it white - instead of shedding that bad layer, you add another on top of it - not good. You’ll be happy, but you won’t be yourself....imo

My job is behind right now. I am beside myself all worked up about it because my managers don't seem to care or try to fix it they act like its beyond them and they cant do anything. Our hours have been cut so only so many people there from open to close and 4 or 3 people is not enough. So we are days and weeks behind on different processes and I like to get things done... and cant. I'm just frazzled and annoyed and cant just accept it. I wish I could just walk out then I feel like I'd feel better. But I need money for my family so I have been apply to jobs. But I'd hate to lose my 5 years at this job.

They gave me insomnia, but also a constant sensation of being tired. I was yawning all-day, but when I layed in bed I couldn't sleep. Made me sweat a lot, but feel my body cold. I couldn't eat anyway because of the symptoms from depression yet the medication had an impact on that as well, giving me a constant sensation of vomiting whenever near food. They said the side effects are gone after about 2 weeks but are they really? I feel like I'm losing myself if I don't start taking them I feel I'm probably going to end my life soon, but I'm so scared about it, I'm so scared that I'm trying to fix one thing and create 10 other problems. I'm scared it will be fake happiness but my problems will still be there, but I will be too high on that "happiness" to acknowledge my problems.

Did you ever experience memory loss? Just few days after I started to take Lexapro, I could not remember at all of some of the things that my family told me. I would say that the experience itself was not important or crucial, but it was weird. For example, one night, I wrapped the dinner that I could not finish, and the next morning, I was confused why the food that I "finished" eating last night was on my table so I assumed one of my family member left their food, not me. It happened at least 3 times so I got scared and quit, but I am planning of re-trying it to see if the side effects are worse or not. I really need help at this moment.

with any kind of drugs for depression, we must take plenty of water, fluids, green vegetables, salads, physical labor, exercise, balanced diets,......,.

I used to take these before....both generic and brand name version.
First month on the generic and it made me more angry, easily annoyed with stuff, short tempered.
Second month (4-5th week) I switched over to the brand name version (Cipralex in Canada) and was on that for 2 months...the headaches; brainzaps, and anxiety attacks were getting to me. I wasn't angry anymore like the generic, but I was very anxious on the brand version.

Thank you so much for sharing your experience with Lexapro. I am thinking about getting on the drug. I see this new doctor soon and I want to mention this drug to him.
But I do have a question you mentioned you took some medication for your panic attacks. What was that?
Thank you again for sharing! Glad it works great for you. 🤗👍😊

Lexapro 10mg has helped me a lot with anxiety. My doc has upgraded my meds to 20mg due to the effectiveness of 10mg tapering off. Has anyone had worse side effects while increasing dose?

It's nice to see a positive review of an antidepressant. Most are negative reviews from people who quit becaiuse of side effects without even giving the drug a chance to work, and then they go on an on about how Big Pharma is evil., etc. Like you can take something that will change your metabolism enough to have an antidepressant effect without that somehow giving you side effects. Impossible.
I also suffer from severe angst/apprehension/fear, and drugs like this are very helpful to me.
