      This is an extremely rapid set material, I couldn’t see how you could actually get it in the wall crack before it sets up. From the time you mix it until it sets is about 1 minute 10 seconds.
      The only thing that may work is if you could seal all the inside and outside face of the crack and pour it down from the top with a ketchup bottle

    • @ConcreteFloorSolutions
      @ConcreteFloorSolutions  3 роки тому +2

      We have them, I prefer to use them on harder glue, soft glue just gums up on us with the PCD. On soft concrete, the 25 grit particles are so large it will load up our vacuum hose also. This was a small area, so we just dealt with what we had. If it was a large area and very slow grind, we will try other options as needed.

    • @ConcreteFloorSolutions
      @ConcreteFloorSolutions  2 роки тому +2

      I LOVE the HTC 800, I will also say I have not run into anyone unhappy with Sase grinders. I have never owned one so I can’t say firsthand the difference. I will say, years ago we had a job that was so large I had to hire another contractor to help us grind. Our HTC grinder did double the volume in the same amount of time. That could have just been a fluke. The one thing I do love about the HTC is the floating shroud around the grinding head. It illuminates adjusting the dust skirt.

    Would it make sense to get yourself a hardness test kit? Basically a set of scratch rods of known hardness, you would attempt to score the surface until one of them achieves a scratch. That way you can choose to use high speed tool steel, tungsten carbide, or diamond.

    • @digofthedump
      @digofthedump 3 роки тому

    • @superwcampbell
      @superwcampbell 3 роки тому

      It’s likely he has a mohs hardness test. They make the diamonds he’s using in 6 different matrixes that correspond to a mohs 4 (very soft) to a mohs 9 (very hard). The black tooling is a 5, the gold tooling is an 8. It’s a little overkill to use on each project though…with a little experience you can guess close enough to be effective.

    • @ConcreteFloorSolutions
      @ConcreteFloorSolutions  3 роки тому +1

      Walker, You are very correct. We do have a mohs test kit, I have found it to be more of a pain than its worth. Also, when you have coatings / glues, what do you scratch? You need to grind off the coating to reveal the concrete to test.
      We can typically tell before we start what to try first. Jeff called it early in the video by switching from gold to black before we ever started. That is also why we have every diamond with us so we can grind whatever we run into. Thanks for watching

    • @ConcreteFloorSolutions

      use a shotblaster if you have alot of pitted concrete, that will clean the valleys out before you coat. the material is self leveling, but you are only applying a thin coat, so it wont just run down a drain unless you push a puddle to the drain.

    Whats the main difference for using a shot blaster vs a grinder?

    • @ConcreteFloorSolutions
      @ConcreteFloorSolutions  3 роки тому +1

      A shot blaster shoots tiny steel pellets on the floor and gives the concrete a sandblasted rough texture.
      The diamond grinder scratches the surface using a rotary diamond tool. The advantage of the grinder is that it's smooth the floor out to remove some of the irregularities.

    Hi guys, I have a concrete floor but there are some bigger acid stains I would like te remove. Some say it’s only possible by completely “sanding” the floor because the acid changed the structure of the concrete… do you have a better, more cost/time friendly, solution?

    • @ConcreteFloorSolutions
      @ConcreteFloorSolutions  3 роки тому

      Unfortunately, No, probably even a more aggressive approach. Acid attacks the cement which is the matrix that holds concrete ( sand, stone, cement) together. If the cement is compromised, so is everything else around it. You need to aggressively grind or shotblast those areas to completely remove the weakened cement and possible dried acid. You also need to make sure the acid is or was neutralized first. If acid remains in the concrete and you coat over it, moisture can build under the coating, because it is not breathable, reactivate the acid and it will continue to erode the concrete under the coating and cause the coating to fail. That is why I preach to never acid etch for preparation, it can cause more harm than good.
