    Although I'm not vegan, I'm a vegetarian. Coming from a vegetarian background, I literally stopped eating everything after coming to US because of the same oils and same grills used outside. When I thought I'm never gonna have taste like these dishes, I found your channel like a boon. Thank you so much. I couldn't express my gratitude in words

    Is citrate really doing anything here? In dairy cheese it binds the calcium, freeing the casein protein to hold onto fat. But there's no casein in vegan cheese.

    • @TheeBurgerDude
      @TheeBurgerDude  Рік тому +5

      From my experience it keeps the cheese from coagulating. Cashew cream seems to help even more too.

    I wanna say regardless I appreciate you and every single video you ever upload it has to be said though for this one I just kept saying thank you GOD thank you GOD THANK YOU GOD you've got no idea how much this means to me because I crave taco bell all the time and I'm trying to be vegan as possible
    I'm not living alone so until I can buy my own groceries and not be told "I'm drained from pRotEin"
    P.s for anyone concerned, I eat healthier than them take my b12 for fun and love my vegan protein shakes and the person by me legit have creeping health problems from excess chicken legs and "grass fed beef" having so many hormones stress induced toxins and antiobotics also theres no nurtients from their "grass fed" because of fast farming there is ZERO nutrients in that fertile soil that will be overgrazed which the vegetables could have AT LEAST been sent to starving families in the Phillipenes, Kenya, Yemen, Syria, Uganda, underpaid honestly enslaved people of communist china, indonesia, 250k+ orphans of russia, I'm still vegetarian but don't have eggs and don't drink livestock milk directly just accidentally (they label the ingredients under the powder form or something silly) or sometimes through cakes but this stuff can be made with the SAME INGREDIENT without robbing the lives of 264 billion creatures ?
    I hope for anyone curious about treating our resources with respect finds this informing and out of kindness not malice
    BC its the 897 billion meat industry that bought all the insurance companies and media to push this stigma and create this weird pressure about it lol and its there because think about, if I stopped eating carrots and even told everybody, the rejection rate would be 0

    Totally going to make these. I personally find Taco Bell to be gross, but love the idea of a lot of their menu options & thoroughly enjoy homemade versions MUCH better. Also, happy to see you sharing that brand of saźon. I put that on almost everything. Plus, coming from an immigrant community that relied on Goya as a staple in the house, I love having an even better option so I can avoid giving that scumbag company another dime. 🥂🍟

    Your videos are great. They're well edited and really addicting to watch.
    However, I wanted to share something that concerns me recently, and it doesn't directly have to do with your content. You see, I've been a vegan for 14 years. Recently, I decided that I would try non-vegan food for a variety of reasons. I came to the conclusion that I didn't like meat or fish or anything, really - eggs were OK but something I didn't really need, and everything milk-related was kinda disgusting. And I gave it an honest go for about ~3 weeks. So, I went back to being vegan.
    That being said, I'm still concerned about the substitute products. The thing is that I went vegan when vegan subsitutes were rare, and usually people would eat tofu, etc. which are normal and natural products. My worries lie with the fake meats and cheeses that you see, which hardly really qualify as food when you look at the ingredients. I'm not one to say that anything artificial is bad, but you definitely notice that the people who are healthiest are those who eat minimally processed foods (see mediterranean diet or japanese diet). You may say that you are not concerned with your health, and that being vegan alone is sufficient, but you'll quickly realize that without health you have nothing, and that a vegan diet by itself is not healthier than any other diet. Consider a diet where you only eat, say, sugar, which is most likely vegan, but will kill you pretty quickly.
    I'm always happy when you make recipes that have natural ingredients (tofu, jackfruit, beans), but I feel like substitute products are TOO accessible and easy. I know that for you and many others it's about animal ethics, but principally it's all about being sustainable and eco friendly too. Just like solar panels require extensive mining for rare earth minerals, meat substitutes have the potential to be more harmful to the planet and to our ecosystem, ultimately killing more innocents. And when we look at land, we know that certain land simply cannot be used to grow crops, but instead flourish when herds are grazing. (Factory farming, of course, is a different matter altogether, but we agree that this is terrible.)
    What I'm trying to say is that I wish that people had a more rounded view on this matter. Yes, I am a vegan, and I'm one of the people who really, genuinely prefers having a cabbage than a steak, and I've never had any health issues despite never 'cheating' (I never felt the need to), until that period recently where I made a conscious decision to try the other side. I am unsure whether this push for everyone to have 'fake meats' is actually good, for the planet and for individuals. After all, this is all additional production and farming. Instead, should we not focus on buying local foods and eating more vegetables? Growing gardens and encouraging eco-friendly farming? Listening to the farmers that know the land?
    This whole idea that plant-based is somehow better 100% of the time... I'm not sure that's true. Both for health and for the world, I think we should eat more fresh, unprocessed foods. I'd argue that if you keep chickens in your garden, eating the eggs from your chickens is morally better than buying a beyond burger.
