    Actually, what’s even sicker is that he is NOT using a double bass. It was a single and no double pedal either. He was well known for rolling his foot and if other people did it, we had never heard it before! Recorded in October 1968 and Bonham the drummer was only 20 as well as Robert Plant.

    • @zosometalgod
      @zosometalgod 5 місяців тому +7

      Bonzo didn't need a double bass his right foot was lightning fast! Or as Jimmy Hendrix once said John Bonham had a jack rabbit foot!

      Vanilla Fudge drummer Carmine Appice swears that Bonham heard and saw it from him. They were on tour together and Bonham came up to Carmine and asked how he did those bass drum beats.

      @@antarcticorb9197 Only problem with Carmine's story is the album was already recorded by the time they met Vanilla Fudge.

    1968 til 1980 when Bonham died. This was the first song on the first album...it HIT US IN THE FACE! No...only one singer Robert Plant. 4 members only! Yes John Bonham was the greatest drummer ever! Greatest band ever!

    Just keep going through the catalog. They started in 1969. This is a totally blues Lp. And yes there is no other drummer like John Bonham. That's all Robert Plant singing lead vocals. Jimmy Page lead gutar and John Paul Jones bass and keys. Great reaction as usual and Peace out 🙏 ✌️ ☮️

    This will be a little long, Jimmy Page the lead guitarist was formally in the band The Yardbirds. He was the last remaining member, ironically the last to join them too, they still had a few concerts that needed fulfilled. Page had like 2 weeks to find guys for the band, likely the beginning of August (1968). He wanted a guy named Terry Reid for vocals, but Reid wasn’t available, & recommended a little known singer named Robert Plant. Page & 1 or 2 others went to hear Plant playing in a pub, he talked to Plant & Plant came back to his house, they had the same interest in music. Plant mentioned his friend since earl teens & former band mate, drummer John (Bonzo) Bonham. Bonham had a study gig, but they talked him into joining. Two stories when bassist keyboards mandolin player etc. exactly came aboard. They had their first rehearsal on August 19, the day before Plants 20th birthday. The first song they played, they knew the had something great. They did those few tour dates, came back to England & over 4 nights & a total of 35 hours, recorded produced mixed & edited their first amazing debut album, it was released on January 12,1969. Jimmy Page while the most sought after session guitarist pre Yardbirds, in free time learned about producing mixing & editing. Not only did Page write music & some lyrics, he produced mixed & edited all their albums. They are the GODS of all genres of music, you never know what treat you’ll get, but you know you’ll love it. Plants vocals are like no others, his range tone & textures, & knowing how & when to use what is a true godly instrument. Sadly the band split up, when irreplaceable friend & greatest drummer ever, John (Bonzo) Bonham passed away.

    Keep on trucking through the album. You won't regret it. This is basically a self produced album. They did the mixing, song selection so it was exactly what they wanted. You had to be alive at the time to really appreciate how music changed during this time. Elvis was still on top. Beatles were doing Sgt Pepper. Folk rock was just beginning to become electric thanks to Bob Dillon. Sly and the Family Stone were dancing to the music and Joplin was belting out Summertime. It was such a expansive time of change and musical genius and diversity.

    Only 1 singer, Robert Plant.
    I'll watch the Zepathon with you.
    Babe I'm going to leave you is the next song.
    2nd song on 1st album. This is 1969.
    Jimmy Page is the guitarist. Sometimes he uses a violin bow on an electric guitar.
    John Paul Jones is the keyboard, bass, mandolin and other misc. Instruments.
    John Bonham is the Drummer. He is considered the best rock Drummer.

    Robert was the first voice like this. I’m sure the metal bands took lessons from Robert Plant, just like they listened to Jimmy Page on guitar. Just one singer on this song, by the way.

  • @brianlafrazia8237
    @brianlafrazia8237 5 місяців тому +2

    It’s the same singer: Robert Plant. He just has incredible range and can sing anything.
    John Bonham is one of the GOAT drummers. He was the first real HEAVY drummer, but had great feel, soul and his fills are unparalleled.
    John Paul Jones is the bassist and is one of the best ever. His grooves are sick, and the backbone of the band.
    Jimmy Page is perhaps the most versatile guitarist ever.
    These guys are the OG - set the tone for heavy rock forever. You must checkout Dazed & Confused, Communication Breakdown, Whole Lotta Love, Immigrant Song, Black Dog, When the Levee Breaks, Kashmir.
    But don’t overlook their incredible acoustic stuff either: Ramble On, Going to California, Battle of Evermore.

    Chek the history of The Yardbirds and then you can understand more about The New Yardbirds .. This album I had to have after LZ 2 and I put that heavy tonearm on that brand new LZ 1 and thought how could this be as good or better than LZ 2 ..A door to a new sound space opened right up in 1 second.. NO double bass kick drum, only a single and John Bonham only used one after a double kick caused more space problems for touring in the early days and never switched back to it .. There is a vid of a 8 year old Japanese girl that plays drums with this song .

    They were mid-late 20s and at least Page & John Paul Jones (bass) were accompllished sessions musicians playing on hits like DownTown by Petula Clark and Sunshine Superman by Donovan before creating Led Zeppelin. Page paid for the recording session for LEd Zeppelin 1 from his own pocket.

      Apparently between 1963 and 1966 when he joined the Yardbirds Psgr played on between 50-90% of the top 40 songs that had been recorded in London at the time. Other than the Beatles he appeared on records from all the major bands that appeared during the fabled British invasion of the 60's.

    Genius band, none of their albums sound the same. IMO they had seven albums in a row, not counting the live one at Madison Square Garden, “song remains the same” but the first seven the studio albums in my opinion are near great or great albums, seven in a row no other band other than probably the Beatles can really touch that as far as that many great albums in such a short period of time. The album “in through the outdoor” imo is not good except for the very first song on the album.

    You really need to do a bit more research before listen to a piece, Heavey Metal diidn't exist in 1969, and no lead singer sounded like Plant. They were advertised as the new Yardbirds, however, they didn't sound like the Yardbirds what so ever, the only connection between Led Zeppelin and the Yardbirds was Jimmy Page, lead guitarist.
