    The Jets are getting outplayed. This is embarrassing and proves that the regular season means nothing. The people blaming Hellebuyck need to realize that the Avs would score 10+ goals had Hellebuyck not been in net. This team can’t match the speed and skill of the Avs.

      Disagree, I would have put LB in at the start of this last game. I don't care what Helle did in the reg season, he has a 5 plug GAA in the playoffs. He stunk last year too in the playoffs. I would sign LB and trade Helle for prospects, get rid of 55 too, it seems Wheels wasn't the real problem.

      @@chumleye1112You do know Helly's extension kicks in next year right? There is no trading him with that cap hit Same with Scheifele. And Helly has not been the problem. You look at the goals today, which ones were weak goals? Since he sucks so bad, why wasn't the score 10-1 since the Jets were being so badly outshot?
      You want to trade people, trade Ehlers. Trade Schmidt. Trade Pionk.

      I've never liked the format because it basically front-loads the playoffs in the first round, and match-ups get less intriguing the further the playoffs go. I picked the Avs to win the cup back in preseason. They're just built for a deep playoff run. Big, fast, skilled, hungry, and tough mentally. The Jets are getting outplayed on every level, including at their own game, which this season was playing team defense. It is quite disheartening, though, as a fan to go into playoffs feeling pretty decent based on our success this season and then it just... collapses so depressingly. At times in game 4 I thought I was watching the lackluster lineup of the 2012 Jets with all the turnovers, terrible neutral zone play, and the penalties.. please make it stop..

This series has gone a little differently that I expected, but I also know that win #4 is going to be by far the hardest to get in this series. I'd bet the farm we see the best version of the Jets in Game 5 (I imagine the Avs will need to weather the storm early on with the crowd giving the Jets extra energy). Hopefully the Avs can finish the job, this has been one hell of a performance from the Avs but the job is far from done in this series. Thanks guys for this great game review. It would seem the NHL has a strong tradition of ensuring that the Jets (whether it be 1.0 or 2.0 ) must play the eventual Stanley Cup winner in the playoffs and unfortunately most of the time that happens in the opening series. The Av’s won in 2022 and I believe after coasting into the playoffs they are currently playing like they did that year. If the playoffs were seeded using their regular season results the 4th overall and 2nd place in the West Jets would be playing either Tampa (league overall) or the Kings (conference overall) instead they end up playing the 8th overall and Western 4th place Avalanche. If you ask me The Jets aren’t the FRAUDS it’s the NHL playoff system including awarding “loser points” to further cloud that FRAUDULENT point structure. Regardless… Go JETS Go !!!

    • @bobbyb9918
      @bobbyb9918 Місяць тому

      You are absolutely correct. The reality of the non-seeded NHL playoff structure means that going “deep into the playoffs” isn’t necessarily a great barometer of team’s success. A better indicator of a team’s playoff performance might be the postseason record of the team that ultimately knocks them out of the playoffs. Clearly the Av’s are currently outperforming the Jets and Winnipeg will need to significantly improve their play if they are to advance to the second round. But should the Jets lose to the Av’s are the Canucks a better playoff team than the Jets just because they beat the Preds and have advanced to the second round?

Avs skill is just too much for the whole Jets team to handle since they stepped it up after the regular season. Watching these first 4 games you wouldn't have thought the Jets were 3-0 against the Avs during the season, outscoring them 17-4. I guess he was at the end of shift. The jets covered MacKinnon sometimes by two guys but forgot about Makar, Rantanen, Nichushkin and other players. The Avs will finish off the Jets Tuesday. Jets hung their goalie out. Side note hope Vlad Namestnikov is ok, it was a terrible shot. Jets are losing players from injuries. Jets Coach is being out-coached by Bednar and his coaching staff. I would have to go back and re-watch but we're not saying the same Jets team. The Jets D aren't able to handle the pressure and get to the forwards quickly to generate any offense and the Jets forecheck isn't there to prevent the Avs from gaining the zone. Nothing is working for them.

    This is not to say that the Jets don't have a part in these losses. But truly the consistency of the refing is atrocious. The Makar play is a good example, Lowry would normally have laid him out, but the Jets don't know what they are even allowed to do to stop a player. Again, the Jets are not playing how they did during regular season and are to blame for poor play, but the NHL referees have been noticeably horrible and its sad nothing is ever done. The league looks like a complete joke and beer league with this officiating.

    Some of this does fall on bones for sure. We can all question his lineup decisions(Stan and Ajf in over miller and fetts). But his system was good enough for 52 wins, a Jennings trophy, and 8 wins in a row to close out the season!! They have not played the system in any shape or form. When push comes to shove this core has repeatedly shown they cannot get it done! Full stop end of story. 27 has been totally invisible. 81, 13, 23, and Toffoli are not doing what they are paid to do. Where’s the fight and the depth. This team has told us the fans that they are deep and they are different than last year but it seems they have duped us all again. Worse than that they appear to be lying 🤥 to themselves and consider their effort to be good enough. If they bow out in this fashion again it really begs the question of where do they go from here? Major changes would be needed but true north seems loathe to move of this core of softies!

    • @SportsTalkWPG

    @pomerlain8924 Місяць тому

    There was a stretch in the first period where the Jets were outshot 13-1. When Makar scored his goal, the shot advantage was 27-13. It's easy to rag on Hellebuyck, but where is the rest of the team? Where's the defense? Where's the offense from the star players. The top line is not performing like a top line. The second line is non-existent. The Jets' players just seem to shrink in the moment. This is not the regular season. Depth is great in the regulat season, but in the playoffs, you need your best players to carry you, and it's not happening and they don't seem to know what to do to fix it. The Avs are playing their game, while the Jets are not even trying to play their own game.
    If anything, this highlights what I've been saying since last season. The blue line is not good enough. It's simply Morrissey and 5 other guys. Pionk is a trainwreck. Schmidt can't handle the puck. Stanley is slow and takes too many penalties.

But none of them are ever called up, except when it's the last game of the season. Too much deference continues to be paid to the veteran guys, even when they're not performing. And that's on top of the fact that the Jets had a guy like Declan Chisholm, who was probably the second-best skating defenseman the Jets had, and he was lost for nothing on waivers as Logan Stanley was protected over him. Ville Heinola had won the job to be a regular on this team, and he gets hurt in the last game of the preseason. And once he got healthy, he never got another chance to play on the main team, as again Logan Stanley was prioritized over him. The Jets another D-man in Leon Gawanke, who tied for the AHL lead in defensemen goals last season. And he never got a chance on the main team, and wound up signing a contract to play for a team in his home country of Germany.

      @@pomerlain8924 Pomerlain, it's tough. A smaller market team is under unbelievable pressure to stay relevant and competitive all the time. In reality, to build a championship contender you have to take your medicine for 3-5 years. The Avs certainly did it to rebuild with our players when they were young. We are a small to medium market team but it's different here. The Broncos and Nuggets are also big stories and we had already won two Cups since the Avs got here. So the pressure was not nearly as high as it would be in Canada in a city dominated by hockey and that lives for their team. You guys will have to play the young guys, build from within and put up with some losing. Probably won't happen. I've seen what hockey is like in Canada. You guys are awesome fans, but the teams like Winnipeg are the entire sports report nightly. So losing is generally not an option.

    Agree with the 'team collapsing', at various points. But, you have to admit, unless this is the first NHL playoff games you have ever seen, the refs can suck the will to win out of you. And they are doing it to the Jets. Sure, when there is 6 minutes to go in the third, and a team is down by 3 or so goals, well 'lets give them a few calls and see if they can come back'. Yeah, sure, against the Avs? who are they trying to fool? I have lived through and coached through many playoff games, from hockey, to ringette and even high school volleyball where the refs decided who was going to win, sometimes even before the games started.
    No doubt, the Avs. are the better team in this series, but holy s....., let the two teams decide who wins.
