The full list now includes Utah Blizzard, Utah Venom, Utah Fury, Utah HC, Utah Hockey Club, Utah Yetis, Utah Outlaws, Utah Mammoth, and Utah Ice.
All nine of the trademark submissions were filed by the same group.
It’s also important to note that these trademarks were filed anonymously and are not finalized. The team name could end up being none of these nine options.
It is unknown at this time when the bracket will be released for fans to vote on. It is likely that some, if not all, of the submitted trademarks will be in the poll.
If you group together Utah Hockey Club and Utah HC, that makes eight total options.

The Nashville Predators mascot is a Sabertooth Tiger and the Mammoth is a Pro Indoor Lacrosse team in Denver
I cant believe he didn't just google these names before hand, the Mammoths and Outlaws are both Pro Lacrosse teams. It takes like 30 seconds of research lol
Brodie 30+ years ago. "The San Jose BABY Sharks? I dunno."
they wanted to call them the "San Jose blades".... now THAT I woulda had some words for... haha
@@brodiebrazilResurrecting the Golden Seals name would've been a better choice than the Blades. Even if Saskatoon had a different name for their WHL team, it just sounds too much like a junior hockey team name. The Seattle Kraken vs. the San Jose Blades... doesn't sound good (while the Seattle Thunderbirds vs. the Saskatoon Blades sounds just right).
The Blizzard is not a shake. It's soft serve with ingredients blended in.
Yeah, like a McFlurry for those who've never had the chance to visit a Dairy Queen
Didn't McDonald's steal the idea from DQ?
Imagine being this much of a pedant 😂
YOU TELL EM, Whatofmeh, YOU TELL EM!
@justrodger8958 It's okay, I wouldn't expect a Rodger to understand the finer things in life.
Dark horse…Utah Snow Owls with a fierce looking bird logo…
The Utah Dark Horse is more fierce than a snow owl
@@Mr152008 I didn’t even think about that, but it isn’t bad! 😆
Utah Raptor, with a snow covered eagle or bird of prey, snow owl etc.
Sucks Ogden and Toronto already have raptor team names
I would prefer Owls over any of the ones that are trademarked so far. I like "snow owl" but because there is such thing as a _snowy_ owl and it's just so close to that without being that idk, it kind of kills it imho. And I wouldn't like Snowy Owls either because it is just too cute sounding
But anyway, I think a real animal like an owl is a good choice. So many of these names sound very tacky, almost eSports-like and I am afraid they will sound dated in about two years.. Like the Yeti, a completely nonexistent fantasy being. And then all the names that are plural without an s like Fury, Ice... and then non-plural names like Blizzard... they even went with the pseudo-european H.C. ... it is like they are trying too hard to hit every trend they can. They need to choose a name that will legitimately sound good in 2070. Not just 2024
If the Winnipeg Jets 2.0 got their name finalized from May 2011 in time for the draft, and jerseys ready before end of summer, then surely Utah can come up with a name and Jerseys by October! The generic NHL name and logo would be so lame to start the season
It would follow the curse that was Jets 1.0, Coyotes 1.0 and now Utah 1.0.
Yeah I don't know why people are freaking out about the name already, it's still April lol
Yes Winnipeg had allot less time to get things going, but having the ahl team kinda helped get things switched over too I assume.
Utah already has the franchise.
Winnipeg didn't make the move until the end of May, and didn't get board approval until June 21st I think.
The difference being that Winnipeg already had an NHL team before so obviously the new Winnipeg team was just going to take the old team's name. Utah doesn't have that.
There was no other option for Winnipeg. And fortuitously, the NHL owned the name as they had purchased Coyotes out of bankruptcy and Coyotes had owned the Jets IP.
@@Michael_RareZebra
Curses are a myth.
Why not have a railroad theme? Utah was made famous by the transcontinental railroad. Columbus used the bluejackets name in reference to Ohio producing the union army blue uniforms used in the 1860's, so Utah could could easily use a railroad related name.
Its a shitty theme
Utah Spikes?
Utah HC would actually liberate the team to pick any mascot they want. Utah Ice? They might as well call them the Utah Water. It’s a cheesy and yet boring name.
@@parkercrossjr9389I've also thought of (Golden) Spikes for the Transcontinental Railroad given that ceremony was at Promentory Point, though the Railers would be an excellent middle finger to Worcester, MA (F*** Worcester, all my homies hate Worcester)
@@jaredhebert942 Golden Spikes would be a cool name but think there is already an award named the Golden Spikes award in MLB. That's how deep trademarks go.
The plural of yeti is “yetis”. Some want to argue otherwise, but the other thing is that it isn’t “Utah Yeti” that they filed a copyright for-it’s “Utah Yetis”. And it’s probably my choice. Everything else sounds generic or uninspired.
Yes...I like it either way...Yeti is one like the team and fans are one entity...thoughts
I originally liked Yeti more, until I looked up the correct plural form. So now I prefer Yetis. We gotta be correct on the name.
Yeti still sounds better than Yetis
The plural of marlin is “marlin” but the baseball club calls themselves the “Marlins”, so grammatical correctness doesn’t really matter. I’d rather it be the Utah Yeti because it’s four letters and no “S” just like the Jazz.
If correct grammar were applied in sports, we'd have the Toronto Maple "Leaves" and Philadelphia"Fliers". "Yeti" singular is okay as with the "Lightning" and "Avalanche".
Love the content, thanks.
Many MLB teams have adopted named that were used by minor league teams in the same area. These include Milwaukee Brewers, Baltimore Orioles, Miami Marlins, San Diego Padres, and Los Angeles Angels. Also in MLB, the Colorado Rockies adopted a name used by a previous NHL team, the Colorado Rockies of 1976 to 1982 (originally Kansas City Scouts, now New Jersey Devils).
No, yetis is plural. Just like sharks.
Yeah, I’m very confused why people keep rooting for “yeti” over “yetis.”
True, but Yeti sounds better. Does it need to be plural?
@@TWellington yes, because it’d be like saying they’re the Golden Knight instead of Golden Knights. Makes no sense!
Yetis ARE plural. Since you're talking about what's plural and everything.
@@esantiago837 lol he’s talking about the WORD “yetis,” which is a singular word, my friend.
I mean the 90s Toronto Raptors had one of the greatest logo/uniform/mascot combinations in all of sports despite Raptors also being extinct. I’m rolling with the Mammoth, it sounds badass.
Yea but there isna lacross team in colorado named mammoth. Same with team in kamloops called kamloops venom lacross.
True that
But i do agree. I love the mammoth name
Raptors would have worked much better for Utah as it was also native here. Toronto chose it because the Jurassic Park movie was popular at the time.
Exactly! An animal being extinct is a stupid reason for a "con". Nashville has a Sabre tooth tiger after all. I'm surprised more sports teams don't use a dinosaur.
The WHL had a team named the Ice, and their logo was a very ferocious yeti/abominable snowman. However, when they relocated, they changed their name to the Wild.
Yes but it was similar to the yotes move, the wenatchee wild were a bchl team and essentially the wild took the spot for the ice held, vs being a full operational rebrand
@@juanpeace3y2d I know, I’m a fan of the Seattle Thunderbirds, the team the Winnipeg ICE (all caps, for whatever reason) played in last year’s WHL finals. I kind of wish the Wenatchee Wild could have kept that abominable snowman logo as a shoulder patch, it was really cool.
Been loving all the NHL content lately!
Yeti in powder blue would be awesome
Agreed. Unused color in the nhl kinda
Kinda. The Kraken have it as a secondary and a highlight of red.
@@ThePadillaFilms Find Kraken more seafoam green than power blue. Great in baseball never see it in hockey but would go awesome with a Yeti. Plus works well with ice.
Powder blue and purple specifically would be a perfect combination
@@jasonfire3434 Would be different for sure. Was thinking powder blue with white and silver accents.
I didn't like Yeti at first but it has grown on me. Blizzard is a safe second for me, but also like names such as Utah Swarm or Sting to go with the beehive state. Black diamonds could be cool as well as it goes with our ski culture.
I agree with the UTAH SWARM. That sounds excellent!
Utah Hive.
I'm the opposite. I like Yeti(s) at first, but the more I hear it the less I like it.
Utah swarm or sting sounds like a youth travel baseball team, just lame as hell for an nhl team
Personally I can't see why he didn't point out its actually VENOM that is in a bees sting.
Utah Venom, with a bee, swarm, hornet etc as the logo and mascot, then they can call the arena "the hive"
I’ll be honest until Utah had a hockey team I didn’t know your UA-cam!!! Seriously I have loved your videos and looking forward to the next few years!
What about the Utah Blizzard but with a purple, sky blue, and white color scheme and a yeti as the mascot with purple being the main color on the jersey? I think itd be nice to have a team with a deep purple
I agree the Blizzard would be good! It goes with the double Z that Utah does for some of its teams. It could continue the white out tradition. Though it may be insensitive to the former cities. Though Phoenix carried it on from its previous location.
I've said this since the start, but proximity and similarity of geography as well as blizzard to avalanch discouraged me from it vs some other ideas.
Glad I wasn't alone though in the rational
Just wanted to point out a few more cons about your top choices...
Utah Yeti: The Colorado Avalanche's retired mascot was a Yeti (Howler), and the fan favorite foot logo (also retired)was modeled after a Yeti foot.
Utah Mammoth: The Colorado Mammoth are a professional LaCrosse team in Colorado, also owned by Stan Kroenke, who also own the Avalanche.
Utah Blizzard: Too Similar to an Avalanche. It would be like if we had the Predators Vs the Carnivores, the Thunder Vs the Lightning, the Stars Vs the Suns. They lose their identity by being too closely related.
A historical reference to the Promontory Point Railroad Spike work be uniquely Utah
I actually really like the name Gold Spikes or Golden Spikes, but it's probably too close to Golden Knights. The name Utah Express would work too.
Yeah, Express or Black Diamonds have my vote. Would love to see an actual Union Pacific train horn as the goal horn and the team could enter to Crazy Train.
How about “Locomotive”?
@Liggie55821 too many syllables. But not entirely against it.
@@LockeDemosthenes2you nailed my response about the similarity to Vegas. Maybe just shorten to the Spikes. Like to see something that screams Utah and not just another logo.
Yeti is also the name of a high end mountain bike brand. With all of the excellent mtn biking in Utah, it gives another twist to the nickname.
And they would most likely protest that name if used.
I hope if they go with Yeti, the logo is a bike.
@@scotttild So your pick is Utah HC? Wherever there’s a chance for a frivolous protest, there’s an opportunity or both sides to benefit from a sponsorship deal instead. Like DQ obviously wouldn’t win much of a lawsuit against the Utah Blizzard
Yeti did say they would sponsor if the team name is yeti
Really? That's sick
I'd buy a Yetis Yeti 😂
That would be smart marketing for Yeti
For years the WHL had a team named Kootenay Ice and it's mascot was a Yeti.
Also, I believe that Colorado has a pro lacrosse team called the Mammoth which has the same owner as the Avalanche.
Mammoth is already the name of a team in a “minor” sports league as the Colorado Mammoth play in the National Lacrosse League (NLL)
that's not such a big deal, shared names across other sports is pretty common. I try to look up the score to the LA kings game and I always accidentally get the Sacramento Kings. Even outside of sports like a search result being the Cleveland Cavaliers rather than the Cavaliers Drum and Bugle Corps
Here’s how I see it: Mammoth is such a unique mascot that it can work in the NHL. The Mammoths are my pick for what the Utah team name should be.
Nobody cares about lacrosse at any level
There was a team in the Western Hockey League (WHL) named the Ice (1996-2022) which moved around a bit. Their logo until their last few years was a Yeti.
I saw someone suggest the name Utah Raptors, because apparently Utahraptor is one of Utah's states fossils (the other being Allosaurus)... yes, I'm aware that it shares a name with the Toronto Raptors but I quite like the name... what do you guys think? 🤔
When I see Fury I think the furies from Greek Mythology.
So they could lean into that theme. Olympians was a name that fans wanted them to use. Fury or furies could be going along with that theme while not being called Olympians.
Utah Yeti makes me think they'd have a mascot based on Travis Kelce, whose nicknamed the "Big Yeti."
Utah HC is a good placeholder.
All of the other names are meh, but we'll see. Honestly, Utah Pioneers might work given that historical connection (yes, I know very well the Mormon connection there).
Denver Outlaws is the old (and returning) Professional Lacrosse League team (outdoor lacrosse)
Re: Yeti. For comparison purposes, the Kraken Rum brand has been promoted by the Seattle Kraken as one of its early announced partnerships. I think a lot of that had to do with naming rights negotiations that happened behind the scenes. I could see a similar thing happening if SEG decides to go the Yeti route.
Picturing the badass logo possibilities for Mammoth and Yeti🔥
Your cons can work with your Sharks too.
4 colleges teams
2 indoor football teams
40+ Asian teams Basketball, Baseball etc.
Raptors never inhabited Toronto?
Personally I like Raptors with a twist on it as "birds of prey"
Have eagles or falcons etc as the logo and mascott. Maybe makes a petition to bring the F22 to HAFB with the F35
Does anyone remember Howler the Colorado Avalanche yeti? He was there first mascot. I think I have lunch still use the yeti footprint on their jersey sometimes.
Utah LOVES Disney, the Yeti connection with the Matterhorn is nostalgic and cool. NHL fans EVERYWHERE will buy Yeti merch.
Live in Salt Lake County, Already on the tickets list. There are 2 choices and 6 not even "Also Rans". We need a new slate of options.
I don't understand why it should take too long to adopt a new name. I was living in Colorado at the time the Quebec Nordiques moved from Quebec to Denver. It didn't take long for the team to adopt the name Colorado Avalanche. They won the Stanley Cup in their first season in Colorado and have won two more Stanley Cup championships since then.
Plural of Yeti is actually Yetis, I Googled it.
Utah Buzz
Pretty sure that died with the baseball team and the lawsuit from Georgia tech over the name after the movies.
Brodie: "You only get one chance. You can't keep changing your name every two or three years, or even twice within the first five years alone...."
Toronto Maple Leafs and Detroit Red Wings: "Woah, woah, woah! No need to drag up the past and get all personal." (lol)
Mighty Ducks of Anaheim? Oh.
Anytime I hear someone say "in the words of Joe Thornton." I immediately think of a different quote he made.....😂
The town I grew up in had this local ice cream shop. They named their version of the blizzard the avalanche!😂
I like Yeti. One can imagine a logo spelling out the word with a black shadow in the shape of a Yeti holding a goalie stick and blocking almost the entire net. I had considered the Locomotive, in honor of Promintory Point, but Yeti is likely more to work with, particularly after you bring up the rule on syllables. Never even thought of that.
I mentioned in another comment section, Utah Yetis is good because its phonetically alliterative without being alphabetically alliterative. Nifty!
Also with the Ice name, there are two teams in the low-level SPHL whose names start with "Ice", such as the Pensacola Ice Flyers (with their previous ECHL team being the Ice Pilots) and the Knoxville Ice Bears.
How you'd feel if it's Utah HC as a temp logo, but the use a 70's California seals style word logo and colours which was used by the 70s slc golden eagles of the whl and chl
Yeti has been my favourite all along as well. Sounds the best, is original, and reminds me a lot of the Seattle Kraken.
Too much lost merchandise and revenue if they pick H.C. for their "inaugural" season. The first year is always a HUGE year for merch sales. Temp name would be a stupid move Brodie
It’s working for the PWHL and we’re hot complaining!!!
Actually, I think the opposite is true. Fans would buy a "Hockey Club" hoodie, tee, jacket, or even a kit to show for the team right away. And if they come up with a permanent name later, the fans buy second, third, and fourth items - and the HC stuff gets retired to the closet as collector's items. It's a marketing concept called planned obsolesence. It's not as sinister as the automakers making crappy cars to make you wanna trade in five years, but it's the same concept, and buys time...
@@bartphlegar8212 you might, but I sure wouldn't. It would be so lame and just look terrible on ice.
@@ipsbz I quite agree. I would just name the team and get it over with. But the narrative I just gave is how the "marketing brain" works...
@@bartphlegar8212Like how Washington Football Team merch flew off the shelves and is now a vintage collector’s item? Lol
Winnipeg’s WHL team was called the ice, so not original and interestingly enough their mascot was a yeti
Outlaws is a name that belongs to Houston for me. Utah Rogue?
Utah HC works as a temporary placeholder.
Utah Yeti I would like to see that too. Titans would also work, but again with a Yeti as a mascot.
Columbus also has a new pro volleyball team called the fury and Denver has a pro lacrosse team called the mammoth. I like mammoth or yetis the best, but I also think that they should consider something railroad themed because salt lake and Utah in general have huge connections to that history.
Utah hive or sting or something bee themed would be original and major league level while keeping with the state and keeping inline with the other popular team in town the Salt Lake City bees, a lot of the names thrown around up to now sound like EASHL team names
EASHL indeed! 🤭
Hey Brodie buddy you forgot about current hockey team that are in the ECHL called the Utah Grizzlies the word Grizzlies has a double z in the middle of the word Grizzlies that the Utah Hockey Club (Utah H.C.) can use if the Grizzlies owner Donna Tuttle wants to give up the name once the team relocate to another city and state so the new owners Ryan Smith and his wife Ashley Smith would use the name for a current and relocated NHL team
There was a Arena Football team called the Fury that was based in Detroit
Honestly, there is always going to be overlap with other team names in other leagues and sports or other companies, so I don't put too much stock in that.
There is a Canadian Western Hockey League Junior team called the Kootenay Ice. Their logo has lots of sharp edges and feature a Sasquatch/Yeti as part of the logo.
The Fury name came from a adult fiction book series based around a fictional hockey team named the Utah Fury.
If the owner's are going for a similar color scheme to the Jazz, the Yeti, Mammoth, Blizzard, and Ice would be best options to match. My favorite is probably the Mammoth right now.
Not anymore if you know anything about trademark law. It has gotten very sophisticated and searches are extensive. They can't even use names from a dead league like the USFL. There is very little overlap now with nicknames there is too much money and advertising involved that is why the searches take so long. They go back decades looking for names that have been trademarked. There are firms that do nothing but trademark infringement cases and they make millions for even something that is close.
fans seem to like plural yetis. sounds puerile just like the seattle team name.
I like Mammoth. The logo could be some fierce looking angry mammoth head with red eyes. When the team enters ice. They could have a big mammoth head with smoke to imitate dust in a stampede and there would be drum sounds in the background. You would hear really low mammoth growls and when the announcer say: Here is your Utah Mammoth! The mammoth trunk would lift up and steam would shoot out from it. Then the eyes would glow red and you would hear a mammoth scream when the team enters the ice. Team jerseys could be dark brown or bronze or copper color. They could have third jerseys purple like the Jazz has.
Great video! Hoping for a good name for my team!
The Wasatch Mountain Range "You like that I know that?" ... lol that hit me just right. 😆
Wasatch Sasquatch
@@jacehiggs3637 haha there you go!
Sabertooth tigers are extinct if was really real (That is the predators mascot). The Kootenay/Winnipeg Ice was a WHL team and for fans of the league the name was fine. Also, you've only had a Blizzard on vacation in the summer? :o
What's the ninth choice?
My favorites so far: Utah Yeti, Utah Mamouths, and Utah Black Diamonds
Black Diamonds the best one by far. Yeti is bush league as fuck and you're not not topping Colorado Mammoths' branding

I'm unsure what color scheme the Mammoth would be. Maybe Copper/Brown, light blue/blue, and white? The Mammoth logo should have some snow in its fur too!
Colorado lacrosse team is called Mammoth.
@@EricFarmer01 LaCrosse...Not a popular sport or league. Not a big deal other than maybe the close distance of teams.
@@EricFarmer01dude what sports team is not used twice across all sports leagues in North American leagues? Rangers, Giants, Oilers (before), jets, panthers, kings (even in the same state)… having a hockey team share the same name as a lacrosse team is not a problem
The name of the hockey team is Vegas Golden Knights, not Las Vegas. It was named that way on purpose by ownership.
Right. Because the actual name was too clunky
Although they might’ve done it that way, I still would rather see LV on scoreboards than what they do with VGK, that would be easier from a visual standpoint. I also don’t like the presentations of the Knicks, Spurs, Warriors, and Pelicans with them adding a third letter as part of the team instead of just keeping it as the two letters like NY, SA, GS, and NO instead of NYK, SAS, GSW, and NOP
The Utah Phoenix(es)!
The Logo can be a Phoenix Flying out of dormant Utah volcano
Something similar to old Utah Jazz logo, With the Phoenix flying up, between the T and the A.
Phoenix Rising F.C. currently in USL, have the phoenix rising out of flames as their logo already.
As a native, I’m all in on the Outlaws. Let’s go!!
I like Yetis as its something new and is in a way a tribute to the "Yotes."
The double z thing was popular with Utah sports teams in the late 90s/early 2000s. Obviously they have the Jazz, plus a minor league hockey team called the Grizzlies. The Triple A Salt Lake Bees used to be called the Buzz. On top of that, they once had the Starzz (WNBA), Freezz (indoor soccer), Catzz (indoor football), and a few others. Basically, it's played out.
I like either the swarm, yeti or outlaws
The Indianapolis Ice hockey team used a polar bear mascot. They won the IHL Turner Cup in 1990 if I recall correctly.
They had a WHA team called the Racers - perfect name for a team from Indy. Colts? Stupid.
@@michaelmarkowski204is “Baltimore Colts” any less stupid
The Racers signed Gretzky and Messier at age 17. @@michaelmarkowski204
I think Yeti could work as a singular. The team plays “as one,” “with one purpose, together,” so a Yeti could be construed to has a singular meaning.
Based on those eight that they’ve trademarked, my top choice would be the Utah Mammoths.
Yes, I said MAMMOTHS, not mammoth. If there’s one thing that I’m not a fan of, it’s non-pluralized team names.
Salt Lake Spikes (as in golden spike), Utah Express (as in Pony Express) ,The Pioneers, The Youngbloods.
Utah Hockey Club. Its a club I want to join. Very welcoming.
Stupid name
There is going to be a minor pro team with any name you think of. I don't think that is a con if unless it's a team that is local to the area.
It has got to be the Utah Raptor, no? After the Utahraptor?
I hate all these names. I have a few suggestions: Utah Wolfpack. Utah Raptors. Utah Mountaineers.
There's already a baseball team called the Utah Raptors
That's why you spin the Utah Raptors, and it's a bird of prey instead of the dinosaur like the baseball team and NBA team in Toronto.
Don't believe there are any teams called Raptors as birds of prey besides the F22
As they have the Utah Jazz, and Blues isn't available, I think the Utah Rockers sounds good
How about the Utah 40 North? (Latitude) Perhaps a compass for their Logo?
Do we think the Sacramento A's will change name??? 😢
Sacramento Eight-Is-Enoughs
I'm sticking with the Utah Salt Lakers with a Yeti with the likeness of Bron Bron as the mascot. 😁
Brodie, there is already the Colorado Mammoth National Lacrosse League professional team.
Of these choices I’d probably go blizzard
Predators (sabertooth) is also extinct
I believe there was a Predators name already used someplace along the lines. I believe IHL or someplace.
Yeti and Mammoth are easily the best two. I really like the Mammoth name. The name represents something big and powerful. For a mascot they could have a fake giant (but live like) mammoth built. If I am correct, don’t Detroit use or used to have a giant octopus in their arena. Utah could do the same thing. Also with the mammoth nickname, they could incorporate horns in the uniforms (like the LA Rams). I’m between the powerful sounding name, potential giant mammoth hanging in the arena and horns on the uniforms that the mammoths makes the best sense
Give it up, The public is already OBSESSED with the YETIS…even non hockey fans want to buy Yeti merch. It’s the coolest team name for any sport in DECADES.
HC not quite original. The CH in Montreal's logo means Club d'Hockey. Also, if you go back to the start of pro hockey prior to the NHL, multiple teams were HC
I was thinking copper heads for a name because of the kennecott mine there.
take a look at the Columbus Fury. its the new Pro volleyball Federation team in Columbus. check them out if you want to see how they did the branding. I believe its based off the Furies from Greek Mythology which is why i think its geared more for a woman's team.
How about using The Beehive State to guide the name?
How about The Utah Digger Bees.
Use silver, black and a little gold or yellow as the jersey colors which matches a digger bee’s colors.
Like Vegas AHL silver knights jersey colors.
Stanley: The Official tumbler of the Utah Yetis.
Hey Brodie “Venom” is a massive combat sports (mma) brand. So much so they are the official gear sponsor of the UFC.
MLS also has tons of teams using FC as their permanent names.
If it's the Yeti (or Yetis) can't wait to see a mascot fight with Gritty of the Flyers.
Venom could do purple and green color, and could use one mascot or multiple. Scorpions, spiders, snakes, bees. Imagining a logo with a purple scorpion with green venom dripping off of it's stinger
Amherst College changed its mascot to the Mammoths a few years ago. Great name and would work well here. Not sure why Utah would choose the singular Mammoth over the plural.
The Furies are greek mythological goddesses of vengeance. Also called Erinyens.
Personally, I like Mammoths. A Mammoth is a great mascot. It makes a nice stuffed animal for the kids.
Manny the merry mammoth.
Brodie, though many others have also mentioned it, I really like "the Blizzard". If a blizzard can lead to an avalanche, it just naturally leads in to the first true rivalry. I can just envision the Rocky Mountain rivalry. Mammoth sounds good and could work...as does Yeti-although it's a mythical creature. And I keep focusing on Utah as a conservative state. So something realistic and respectful feels proper for them. I would love them to use the color, purple, but realize it's color that can come off as extremely strong and some might actually hate it. But purple and black would be both strong and still have a pretty color. Yetis/Big Foot/Frosty the Snowman...seriously? The Coyotes had a really cool jersey, so let's not toss it so quickly. To give some background, to this day, I still remember/love old "Forum blue and gold"-which was purple and gold for the Kings' first/and forgettable owner! Ya know, you also made an interesting point, for example if a poisonous snake, the colors are usually reds and browns and gold/yellow having a bit in common with the Coyotes jerseys. But mythical creatures...oh, please...the Unicorns? Note: a state known for religion/conservative beliefs, please don't give them a wild west name...at least let the name reflect on the state as outsiders know/respect it. Ya, I stick with blizzard. So, they use an icy blue and white...it does work...at least for me. Let's just get it done. The players are gonna want a quick identity...they are human beings and beginning as the no-names is both undecided as well as means for disrespect from other teams! rl
"Yeti" would work. Using the singular form of a mythical creature's name works for Seattle. No one is calling them "The Seattle Krakens".
What about the Salt Lake City Furious Ice Outlaws? That one rolls off the tongue.
Brodie I love the videos, but the lack of research into the Mammoths and Outlaws name is pretty hilarious. There's a pro team in Lacrosse named the Colorado Mammoths, who are a pretty big deal here in CO, as well as the Denver Outlaws. If you're concerned about Yeti coolers getting upset with the name then maybe consider already named sports teams. The Colorado Mammoths are also owned and operated by the same ownership group as the Avs.
