I put the backpacker on my takedown 10/22. I have the flat black one with the flash hider/threaded barrel. Absolutely love it. I keep a loaded extra mag in the stock with a box of 50, a bore snake, two allen wrenches and small vial of CLP. Added a cheap bushnell red dot on it and it's one of my favorite rifles to plink steel with.
I really like my Magpul Backpacker stock. Unfortunately, my review of it doesn't get much attention, as UA-cam deemed it wasn't suitable for all advertisers. And yes, an optic is called for.
@@AffordableArmory I noticed that yours didn't have any adds. However, I can't find anything in the YT Community Guidelines that prohibit putting a rifle action in a different stock. Most of the other reviews weren't running adds, including a couple of big channels, but at least one small channel had a pre-roll add. Typical YT - no consistency.
@@RidersRange I’ve been on a streak lately of instant yellow dollar sign, ask for review, and a few days later it goes green. So we’ll see. They may consider it a “gun modification”.
That's how I have my original 10/22 Takedown setup as. I have another in the Hunter stock with an Brownells Takedown receiver, Tactical Solutions bull barrel. Run a cheap Pinty red dot scope on that (it was a christmas present that looked cool to my son, it works ok) and a ubiquotous field and stream red dot on the Backpacker setup. Also have a bipod mount on the Hunter. makes it real easy to get good groups. The ejector is on the magazine and 25 round mags of either Butler Creek or Ruger are a tad looser then BX-1 mags. The looseness causes both failure to feed AND mis-alignment of the ejector causing the stove pipes. You can apply tape to the back of the Magazine to wedge it forward more solid, should fix all feed errors. My BX-1's rarely have problems. My BX-25's un modified are a different story. A stronger magazine retention spring sometimes helps.
Thanks for watching! I’ve never had problems with the BX-25s. This was my first time trying the Butler Creek mag. I thought about the Hunter stock, but I liked the backpacker better. And I will absolutely be adding a red dot or a scope.

Thanks for watching! That sounds like an awesome setup.

Yep. UA-cam didn’t like my video either. 😠

Thanks for the video. When you add the optic please remember to add a link and review the optic. This is essentially the same build I was planning.
@@kenfan5666 Will do!
@@AffordableArmory Thanks!
Nice review, stick to Ruger mags, more expensive but last longer and more importantly jams are rare
Thanks for watching! I will definitely be sticking to Ruger mags. Thankfully, I didn’t but that Butler Creek mag and, as a bonus, I now know not to!
I really like the rugers 22 rifles
Thanks for watching! Me too.
Hey, are you going to The Gathering?
The biggest problem with those magpul takedown stocks is I can't decide which color to get 😂
Thanks for watching! Right? I want the gray one too!
That's a well thought out stock.
Thanks for watching! It’s pretty cool, for sure.
Excellent video!!
Thanks for watching!
Even with the cheek weld issue... that's some terrible shooting dude lmao. 10/22 is a tackdriver. Your groupings are God awful
Thanks for watching!
Feel better?
Grouping was fine for standing just needs to be sighted in. Maybe chill out bro
