Probably because of his age (34) and the fact he's 6.4 in height. Not the most athletic of players either. Makes up for it in skill though, hell of a player.
He had a hip surgery in 2014, but I think the main reason is that unlike most players at his level, he's not genetically gifted. He's still moving very well for his size, but there are many professional players that will make him look slow.
I have a Question: If my opponent played the ball then my turn to respond and I have multiple chooses to play the ball 1- on the volley or 2-Middle court waiting to touch the ground 3- another area near the back wall. And I choose to play last one Number 3 and my opponent is on my way he didn't move giving me spice to reach the ball (if he moves I would played it easily) is this STROK OR LET ?
Many people think it is a let because you let the ball pass and bounce to the backwall. But imagine if you play that shot with a straight drive and hit that person. First, answer is even if you hit him it is a stroke. So Ref has to judge that cleverly enough to make a correct decision. If other player is making no effort to clear the ball but slack and stay there and try to take advantage of other's fear of hitting a good straight drive or crosscourt, that is not fair at all. In the situation mentioned above, knowing that player is in front of the ball, you are afraid to play straight/cross but a volley or stop the ball because you are going to hit him. In conclusion, if you have no access to play significant amount of front wall or your space of swing, wherever the ball is , it is deemed to be a stroke.
Willstrop seems like a thorough gentleman. He never stopped the play when I believe many others would have asked for a stroke or let or a review
Free Game Friday!!! Yesssss!!
Gawad: loves to cut off a loose backhand drive, then when his opponent plays a counter drop, he plays a trickle boast.
beautiful camera angle!
What a game!
Any promos on SquashTV subscription? 😊
Why stroke around 19:40? Didn't Gawad "trap" Willstrop and not allow him to clear?
Look at the shot Willstrop took. It is coming to the point where Willstrop is moving to. So Gawad was not able to shoot. Poor shot of Willstrop.
Why does willstrop seem slow around the court? Just with the movements towards the drop shots

at 2:34 why does gawad have to reserve the ball?
Jeff Hwozy will strop wasn't ready. He even signalled before gawad served
what about at 4:47 was that the same?
At 4:47 there was a person walking behind the court. You can hear the ref saying "please sit down" immediately after
Am I the only one who sees foot faults on pretty much all of Gawads serves?
I don’t think I’ve ever seen him serve legally from the left! 🙈
Isn't it a fault? 7:45
Indeed!
