Hearing Tom Waits vibes in your rendition of this song, sounds great. I don't have a Resonator unfortunately but would love have one one day; but interestingly one of my home built guitars has a little bit of a Resonator sound to it as it turned out but not quite the same. Out of interest please can I ask what tuning you are using on this Resonator and string gauge, is it an open tuning maybe?. I make guitars for myself to play mainly 3/4 stringers not only box style guitars but beater guitars that purchase from charity shops I sort out to make playable.
