I've owned 3 Mules but I've never owned or played an Ozark. I liked the Mules but they are heavy, usually in the 10 pound range and it was for that reason I sold them. I own a National Dueco in what I call the 'fried gold" finish and it's a fantastic instrument, coming in at around 7 lbs. In this demo we get to hear the tonal quality of two Mules and one Ozark and from a listener's ear perspective with the same tunes and no pyrotechnics from the player. The Ozark has a much brighter tone while the Mules were not so. I won't say the Mules sounded 'muddy' but the Ozark was much brighter. I don't know a thing about the Ozark model but I suspect the brightness in tone is due to the wood body, opposed to the less resonant and heavier Mules. My National, is a very bright instrument too.

I met you in Atlanta, Georgia close to probably 10 years ago now. I don't remember why you were here or how I was able to meet you and get to hang out with you and hear you play for a few hours, but I'll never forget it. You were kind. That's what I remember.
