- VIDEO: Amazing new drone footage over Derbyshire sinkhole
WATCH this amazing new footage of the giant sinkhole that appeared in the Derbyshire Peak District after heavy rain. - Наука та технологія
A few years back it was filled in. So just fields again now.
We need a banana in this video for scale.
The hole started to appear on Sunday 29 Dec 13 after heavy rain and is now 40m deep. It is probably a result of the collapse of old mine workings. The area had been worked for lead for hundreds of years, intensively from 16C until the early 20C.
Maybe an old well?
Mad when you think about it all the soil that was there is now under that hole . Wonder how many of them are around the country that haven't given way yet. Ask yourself "is there one under me now"
That is awesome, what equipment do you use?
Awesome footage ,,,,
its obviously a collapsed mine shaft .. because then buildings at side are mine workings .. possibly Tin mine , since its Derbyshire
An old water well related to the nearby buildings
Wow! 694 views and no comments? That's about an hour from where I am. I'd like to know what happened to all the material that was in there.
Love the music, what's it called?
Skrillex
It's shocking and awesome in equal measure. Great footage. I'm curious about going to take a look. Obviously safely from the roadside, as I wouldn't fancy the ground giving way and is ending up at the bottom. Clearly some surrounding ground doesn't look too safe..Foolow is a lovely little village with duck pond, this is an added curiosity in the area.
id like to go back and have another look to see if its got any bigger - if you coming through Belper pick me up ;0)
That's point, it's probably dynamic, with parts of the edges crumbling in at any point! I want to see this but see it from the road or very safe distance, as I want to live. Or is there talk of the hole getting filled in at some point? It would take huge resources to fill that though.
When was this
How recent is this sinkhole? Any info on why it formed?
The sink hole opened just after Christmas when an old flooded underground mine collapsed . The whole area is full of old mine shafts.
martin turner Thanks Martin. Truly fascinating.
I would guess an old well
@@gatoslokosforever Looks awfully wide for a well to me. More likely to be a cave or mine collapse.
You'll need a fortune worth of sand / rocks to fill this one up.
Very cool shot, the Sinkhole Derbyshire doesn't seem as deep as reported.
I want to know what artists did the music.
Skrillex
Can it be tourist attraction
So that's what the Affordable Healthcare Act looks like, from above......
You win today's internet.
funny thing with these sinkholes is the grass is never right side up in them
Maybe because it's all died?
Universe is fields, magnetic fields, not farticle wave woo woo.
