I never realized the stamina and chops needed to play this song until I learned it myself. My picking hand fell off immediately after I play through the song. Fortunately enough for me, I had my hand replaced with a power drill so I can tremolo pick at 7000 bpm forever!!! \m/
Man, I know punk is frowned upon in the metal community. But that's one genre that taught me that it's not as simple as you think. Some punk drummer have the stamina of gods to pull off full show. And funny enough, I think black metal as always fallen in this circle of genres that the rest of the metal community just underestimates. But when you try to play them exactly how they were originally played you're left with a: holy shit moment haha
@@manuele.itriagom.728 I used to play in a punk band and the drummers definitely have the toughest job, especially the ones that do backing vocals at the same time, machines!
I think learning something by ear is one of the most beneficial things you can do as a musician. Nothing develops musicianship faster than transcribing a piece that you love. Sure learning to read sheet music and learning theory is super beneficial as well, but ultimately the ear is our most valuable tool as a musician.
The verse is in Hungarian minor (1 2 b3 #4 5 b6 7) in case anyone was wondering. Playing two minor chords a semitone apart is very characteristic of this scale
@@timwatchesmovies 7 is one semitone below the root note, so #7 would be just the tonic. This naming convention is based on the major scale so OP is right.
This really is my favorite series from you! Not necessarily my favorite type of music, but it's pretty interesting to see you tackle stuff like this. You are a great guitarist with a really good ear! More of that, please! :)
C# Standard is my favorite tuning to play in, but barely anyone else plays in that tuning, so it always makes me happy when I see big content creators or bands play in C# Standard.
Totally nostalgic, I spent so much time dissecting songs I wanted to play. The internet wasn’t a thing back then, and guitar mags only had radio friendly songs and Tom Petty tunes. Which was ok for playing bar mitzvahs, but if you wanted to play anything good, you had to wear the tape out pausing and rewinding. Nice to see the traditional way still exists.
I hated that so much, the assumption among magazines and music stores that classic/blues rock is everything when in reality it's a small niche compared to both metal and pop music. No i don't want the who or tom petty tabs, i want to learn davidian damnit, and no i dont want to try this jackson through a fender amp.
Please do more of these! Its really inspiring for me to see other people play stuff, since I have LOTS of songs I want to play but am never able to decide... I listen to CoB for a while now, but only a tribute cover made me actually give it a closer look since it looked like fun and it was... Since you seem to have quite a similar taste in metal as I have, I already found lots of good stuff through your channel! Keep it up! (also already said it, but the new studio looks fireeeee)
OMG behemoth are the best!! im learning this song too!! can't wait to praise it more when my LCFR pedal arrives! you have no idea how helpful this video will be :'D

It's so cool to see someone, that I would genuinely consider better at guitar playing than me, learning a song I already can play. Keeps me motivated. Cool video
I was there, as well. Jannus Live, formerly Jannu🎉s Landing. Btw: it’s Saint Petersburg, not Saint Pete Beach. at the other end of the Pinellas County peninsula.
The speed and accuracy that you put these songs together in your mind cannot be understated. This song is such a pain to learn, had to change my entire style of playing to keep up with those trems.
I can remember my friend pushing play then rewind over and over, to learn a song, today is a little easier, but you still have to have talent, you remind me of my friend back in the 80's. Dating myself there. Love your videos
I remember learning this in college. The other guitarist for our group was a superior player on basically every metric, but couldn't play this. Turns out I had him beat on exactly one thing: sustained, high tempo tremolando. Go figure!
Sounds good! Only thing that might need to be corrected is that in the "coolest riff" that you mentioned with the short tremolo picked section you have to let the previous note slightly ring as you go back and forth between the two strings. At least according to my ears. Typical in black metal I think, same has to be done with Satyricon - Mother North in section where you tremolo pick back and forth between two strings the previous note is left to ring and not muted out by lifting your fretting finger.
Nergal dobrze komponuje. Czasami prosto ale zajebiscie. Behemoth is one of the best black metal band on the world. Most important things - są z polski. 🤘🤘🤘
I agree with Ola about that one riff being the coolest riff in the whole song. And it only appears once. I love playing this song, especially that riff.
tremolo picking is a lot easier with the 'correct' way of holding your pick I just started holding it 'correctly' after 20 years of playing and found that tremolo picking is a lot easier it does take some getting used to though
This track is one of my favourites! Glad I got to watch you break it down and put it back together! The shifting time signatures at the start of the faster part of the solo are a nice twist in a relatively straightforward piece.

Hey Ola. I remember you saying Dehumanizer is your favourite Black Sabbath album. Maybe in your next video you learn a song from that album. Probably try "I" because that is a kickass song.
Ola brought us "The Haunted"! As for Behemoth, their music sounds like a tornado. The guitars are insanely fast. I remember they opened for King Diamond at the Masquerade w/ Black Dahlia and Nile when I first saw them. What a lineup for Atlanta, right. Odd that I don't hear many people comment on Behemoth's drummer, because he is insanely fast. You should also do some Dimmu Borgir, like playing Blessings Upon the Throne of Tyranny. Progenies of the Apocalypse is good too, slower, but that is mixed and mastered insanely well. Btw thanks for the URM plug.
This is one of my top favorite metal songs ever. First Behemoth song I ever heard. This sounds about as hard to learn as some of the Morbid Angel songs I've tried learning. Alternate picking at that speed with CONTROL takes lots of practice.
