Maya Hand Animation. Same animation, 3 different Meta Human characters. Animation inspired by a great lesson from Alessandro Camporota. • Lip Sync Tutorial (wit...
If it gets the feelings across in a video game setting, it's more than fine. I guess I'm not one of those that expects perfect 1:1 realism out of this tech. We are probably still a decade or more away from that. Bottom line though, is that they're amazing looking and well animated characters.
Id suggest looking at reference and following it closely. You seem to skip a lot of poses which gives it the unnatural feel as it transitions between keys. You also are missing eye jitters which add alot of life to a face and the head turns are in desperate need of smoothing out. All round id say you main fall is the transition between your key poses. You need to focus on in-betweens more. Just realised this is 2 years old but ive typed all this and goddamnit im gonna send it
I am also looking into and developing a workflow that uses Metahumans in Maya then to Unreal. I think it will be best to do the basic facial animation via mocap, then add the hand tweaks and details and fine tuninnig via hand key animation in maya to export it to UE for final animation .
Great job! This keyframe animation is better than many auto facial mocap I've seen around. (If you try Audio2Face and improve it with keyframe animations in Maya, you'll kill it :) It will be better than any facial mocap easily.).
It's strange that almost all MetaHuman demos are at the bottom of the uncanny valley, dispite the ultra-realism...
doesn't matter how great the tool is... if one lacks the skill to use it
there are very few alive that can hand key a rig of this fidelity and have it look realistic, and it takes weeks if not months

Did you only tweaked the eye shader or changed the material?
Whats with the weird choppy expressions?
need a professional facial mocap lol

@@sawtom I know it's a late answer but to anyone that would want to know.
Look at the rokoko suit, it's (very) expensive but like almost all suits.
Where’s the tongue? I feel like the lack of tongue is one of the biggest things missing from cg faces. Otherwise this looks fantastic.
How it took? Is it beginner friendly? Asking for a friend.
