I swear down you guys have built my absolute dream car. I was rattling on about it to my mate the other night over some beers. Saying it's my dream car probably sounds lacking in aspiration, but I love the 3.0tdi, and A5's, and in red with black accents and a tonne of reliable power with a chassis to keep up. One day, one day.
To be fair, as an all rounder we are struggling to think what we would use otherwise as the next 'project'. This seems to have it all and will be difficult to beat!
@@ryanp6138 An A4 Avant 3.0tdi would also make an epic project, but I don't suppose it's a great lot different than the a5 tuning wise; it just has a big ass boot. I have to admit that I've spent way too long thinking about building either a 3 door A4 Van, or an A8 pick-up. Too many sleepless nights tbh.

I just finished my facelift on my 2012 A5 couple days ago also! I was never savvy when it came to cars but i was determined to do it. Had to paint RS5 bumper to match, replace headlights and taillights, carbon fiber hood (looks subtle on black car). Managed to do it all on a Sunday not counting the bumper painting. Completely in love with how it turned out
@@heribertor00 there were error codes after but easily fixed with obdeleven. They have an option specifically for the facelift. No need to get a new ballast, old ballast reused and recoded by the obdeleven with a press of button. Great investment for audi owners, you can turn on hidden features of the car ie. Guage sweep when turning on car, mirror auto dips when reversing to see parking lines, control windows through car key.

This project has been spot on, my A4 B6 with a 2.5 is sitting on my drive with a snapped cam - needs repairing and either carry on using or getting it gone but love seeing the potential these 3.0's have and makes sense to swap to a car with one.
Watching this 2years later, I never appreciated how good that wrap was at the time, that is perfection! But also everything else in black is such a nice touch, I’m getting ideas 👀
Watching the whole A5 series makes me want to turn my a5 daily driver into a head turner also. Excellent work and videos . If you ever want a rebuilt 2.0TFSI project car let me know 😜

I contemplated the facelift on my a5, but the only real difference I feel is the headlights only modernise it... is it worth changing so many parts just for headlights? I’m not sure. The rear lights are a simple touch I think everyone should do tho👍🏻 great work tho guys, looks absolutely mint👌🏻👌🏻

When will you guys get an A4 with a CAPA engine a get cracking with a CP3 pump and stage 2 injectors cams etc, dying for some more power in mine.😢 600 hp manual with a 1000 nm would be a proper owners car for Ryan wrapped in imola yellow with black darkside graphics on each side.
It looked good but now it looks great. Can we say that looks match performances now? Will the fog light holes be able to flow enough air for the coolers? If not you could "dremel" out the embossed part of the plastic hexagonal grill. Anyway great job, keep it up.
Not normally a fan of matte/satin red, I think they look like those ex-royal mail vans that's been abused and washed with sandpaper, but I really like this finish, I think the front would look a lot better with a gloss black RS style mesh grill
The face lift is an excellent job. Wheels look stunning, wonder what a set of Forgiao wheels would look like. The wrap is good, but would of gone for something in a metallic red wrap. Anyway nice job guys

Car looks amazing! I have a 2013 S-Line Black Edition 3.0 TDI and I would really appreciate if you could change the gear knob to the S/RS type, as the stock one is ugly and I would like to see how its done so that I do it on my car.
If you’re only doing the facelift from the front expect it to be around $3500 USD. Headlights cost me $550 a piece, not including modules. Bonnet was hard to find and are around $700 last time I checked (at that price you might as well get carbon fiber which is $1000). Rs5 bumper cover was $700 including grills.

Gavin was my teacher on a 3M course with Spandex. Absolute top guy and knows exactly what he's doing. I was able to wrap my own car because of him 👍

ChrisLop since you already did the facelift. Did you use HID Xenon headlights or Bi Xenon? Or does it even matter?
Now it just needs a new facelit steering wheel and gear knob to complete the look

Nice work it looks gorgeous. I'm not entirely sold on the front lights. The original looks a bit simpler and cleaner, but it's stunning either way.

The wrap is metallic just satin. Its hard to capture on camera but looks a lot better in person in the sun

It depends on if you can drop on parts that are second hand, if you're getting new parts it'll be expensive. Most of ours were second hand

The lights are a different shape so you'll have to replace hood and bumper as well. You'll need adapters for the lights as well

We wont do the roof but will consider an OEM+ Splitter when we stop having so much fun on track, dont want to smash it on a kerb!

Correct, We wanted to tune the newer engine with later specification gearbox, nothing wrong with the earlier car so to speak.
