Don’t forget- every song isn’t necessarily based on reality. I don’t know Conway’s personal life. Making you feel the pain and hurt is a sign of great artistry
"It's Only Make Believe" & "I See The Want To In Your Eyes" are GREAT songs by Conway Twitty. His voice was absolutely 💯 amazing. I could listen to him all day long. 🎶🎤🎼🎹🎸❤
Conway Twitty is a deep rabbit hole that you'll enjoy. Country music often gives voice to feelings/situations that most other music ignores. Looking forward to your journey.
Wiw!!! This song takes me back to a horrible time as a kid but now looking back a love song, lol. When I was a kid my dad broke his back when a building he was working on collapsed on him,he started drinking, then he really started drinking, my mother finally left him, he eventually got remarried, but he still drank, he would pass out laying in his van, I remember visiting him as he was laying in his van on hot summer nights, second wife ready to leave him but I heard this old song playing on his old 8 track player , I'm laying here with Linda on my mind, yes my mother's name was Linda. They was divorced for over 20 years , found each other again, got remarried, he found God, stopped drinking, they both passed away from cancer a few years ago, within about a year of each other. I hope they're both truly happy now with no more sad country song's
A rare gem of his that I've found, is his rendition of "The Rose". Just like Bette Midler's version, Conway brings a certain level of emotion to the lyrics.
Conway Twitty was called "the best friend a song could ever have". The range of emotions he was able put into a song was second to none. This is also what makes country music so relatable. The songs tell a story that so many people can relate to. As for your question as to whether to do the "right thing", I suggest you listen to either "I Did The Right Thing" by Johnny Paycheck, or "Marge Is At The Lincoln Park Inn" by Bobby Bare. Both deal with this issue of doing the right thing. Love your genuine reactions. It was easy to see you had never heard this song before. Keep up the good work.
I still have this on a 45rpm record I got many years ago :) He had more hits than I can remember in a career spanning from the 50's to the 80's. In his early years he was rock & roll with songs like It's Only Make Believe. Try his Hello Darlin' or 15 Years Ago or This Time I've Hurt Her More (Than She Loves Me), Tight Fittin' Jeans or I'd Love To Lay You Down...just for starters. :)
Mel! Your reaction kills me! 😂. Perfect! It’s interesting to see the reaction between a male and female. The conversation y’all have at the end is really good.
Yes, the cheating song is a staple of country music. It is the performance of the singer, like an actor, to cause the audience the feel the emotions related in the song. The great ones, like Conway, could do that EVERY time.
If you are liking Loretta, and Conway, then you should do the songs they have done together as a duet and won many awards for being duets for years, Louisiana Woman Mississippi Man, Lead me on, Feeling, Wild Mountain Berries, Easy Loving, After the fire is gone, God bless America again, As soon as I hang up the phone. I think you will enjoy and have great reactions to these songs. Love you guys and look forward to seeing your reactions each time.
My grandfather who helped raised me (with my grandmother), raised me on this music, with George Jones, Lorretta Lynn, Tammy Waynette, Marty Robbins and so many more, and since he passed away two yrs ago this December these songs are beautiful memories to me. BTW I'm 23.
Conway Twitty had 55 number 1 hits (I believe he also had the most #2 hits) in his 30+ year career. He was definitely the best. Check out other great songs like "Who Did They Think He Was", "The Pawnshop", "It's Such a Heartache", "You Are to Me", "Slow Hand", "A Bridge That Just Won't Burn", "The Rose", "I Want to Know You (Before I Make Love to You)", and so many more.
I’m 65,don’t think many people ever hard this song)please play( Captain Beyond )sufficiently breathless on the streets we live)it relates to the world we live in today.Stephen from AZ.
Whatever you pick by Conway, you will LOVE! My favorite is "You've Never Been This Far Before". Need some duets by Conway & Loretta Lynn. Start with" Louisiana Woman Mississippi Man". I still have this album.😀
From "The Heartland Heart Throb" in his early days of Rock n Roll, to "The High Priest of Country Music," Conway Twitty had more #1 hits than anybody in any genre at the time of his death. You can't go wrong with Conway!!! A song a lot of folks might have forgotten is "House on Old Lonesome Road."
Country music is so simple but so deep. Most every song sings about our everyday experiences. Thanks so much for beginning to experience it’s feelings. Keep digging deeper & see how much it speaks about your life experiences. Luv y’all here in southern Oklahoma! ❤
Here's my pick for more Conway Twitty songs : "Love To Lay You Down" , "Tight Fitting Jeans" , "Slow Hand" , "Hello Darling" , "I See The Want To In Your Eyes" and "That's My Job"
This is one of the many many country classics I grew up with-mom and dad were big country music fans. Amazing that I still remember the words and a tune I haven't heard for at least 40 years. Thanks for this reaction! ❤
Thanks Y'all, excellent reaction. Please do "Make Believe" next. This one had great crossover appeal and became his break out hit. This song was actually on the "B" side of the record and a DJ in Ohio decided to play it instead of the "A" side single and the rest is history. Thanks and God Bless
Worse thing is MY name is Linda, and my X tried to get the band to play this at our nieces wedding!!.Errrrrrrrr!! I had moved on,not playing that game!! You two are great❣️❣️
This was always one of my favorite country songs...If I remember correctly, this song was considered somewhat risque at the time it came out (1975), just for mentioning he was "laying down" with someone...
Conway Twitty could get away with songs no one else could. Tight Fitten Jeans, I'd Love To Lay You Down, You've Never Been This Far Before, and many more. He left us way to soon. I remember where I was when they announced on the radio he had died.
The way he’s so unique and does his own style makes me think that Conway and Kanye were in the same spectrum. Powerful and unique, ain’t nobody like them. I can def relate.
Like many had said before me, Conway's duets with Loretta Lynn are the best.. I think you would like "don't cry Joni," bit of a twist ending to that one. "Only make believe" and "hello darling" are among his biggest hits.
Country music is all about the heart....lifting it up or breaking it like glass. It's real life condensed into a handful of words that, good or bad, can leave you speechless. You should check out George Jones "He Stopped Loving Her Today"....but keep the Kleenex handy.
Conway was known as the best friend a song ever had. You should definitely go down the Conway rabbit hole. He had great range and sang a wide variety of songs. From love ballads to more up beat. The song called That's My Job is probably my favorite.
Conway Twitty was cutting edge - he pushed boundaries that had been pushed before. Then he teamed up with Loretta Lynn who was known for singing about things women just didn't sing about. They were amazing together, and pioneers in country music.
You just started down a rabbit hole thats deeeeep Conway Twitty Its only make believe You've never been this far before Love to lay you down Don't cry joni Desperado love List goes on
Y'all are Awesome I get a kick out of your reaction to music I've been Hearing for years ...I'm 60 and my wife and I have been married 40 years ....Thank y'all!
When my son was small, 4 or 5 years old or so, we would listen to classic country while cooking or cleaning and it was the same at my moms house. We spend a LOT of time with my mom. Her name is Linda. When this song would play he would ask why is MY NANNA on this mans mind?! I would quip " Well, Linda is a homewrecker. We adults would laugh. My son is now 12 and understands this song...he joins in with teasing his beloved Nanna...even in public. Lol
Harlin Howard who was a prolific writer said "country music id three cords and the truth". I would love to see you do a reaction to Jackie Wilson - Reet Petite.
Don’t forget- every song isn’t necessarily based on reality. I don’t know Conway’s personal life. Making you feel the pain and hurt is a sign of great artistry
Read his true life book
"Make Believe", "That's My Job", "Don't Cry Joni", "Tight Fittin Jeans", "You've Never Been This Far Before"....❤❤❤

“Hello Darlin’ “ is a major song of his not to be missed. It’s a tear jerker.
Wiw!!! This song takes me back to a horrible time as a kid but now looking back a love song, lol. That's My Job -- my dad always said it was a great song between a Father and son , he would always sing it my dad had 6 of us girls and I son ♥️
A rare gem of his that I've found, is his rendition of "The Rose". Just like Bette Midler's version, Conway brings a certain level of emotion to the lyrics.
He sang a song with his daughter Don't Cry Joni. It is a great song.

Can't beat country music when it come to telling an emotional story

Conway gave country music a huge shot in the arm when he decided to switch from RnR to Country.
Another great Conway Twitty song is "Hello Darlin"
That's the ringtone on my phone 😁
Luv anything by Conway.

"I’d Just Love to Lay You Down"
From ‘Heart and Soul’ (1980)
My grandfather who helped raised me (with my grandmother), raised me on this music, with George Jones, Lorretta Lynn, Tammy Waynette, Marty Robbins and so many more, and since he passed away two yrs ago this December these songs are beautiful memories to me. BTW I'm 23.
Conway Twitty and George Jones, two of the best. There will never again be someone who could sing and tell a story the way they did.
A legend.. Beautiful, my favorite Conway song "Hello Darling"
