As the actual Jerry in this video, I can attest I survived, however my elbow was not as lucky. Luckily was wearing a helmet. My disintegrated elbow was replaced with 5 plates of Ti and 20 screws later and a 9 hour surgery, I can now move my elbow and wrist through a good range of motion. Did accomplish 20+ days of skiing this 2024 season including an Alps trip. Soon to be back to Big Sky and go down the same Gully 3 off Lone Peak, maybe I'll send it to the skiers left the next time.
Funny-I saw the crash and was immediately reminded of the Sharks of Lone Peak. I’ve caught those skiing some nice (looking) spots on the edges of Lenin and Marx.
I was going to say that impact to the tree/rock that sent you flying looked like it did some damage.
One of nastiest crash I have seen if not the worst and my nightmare. Good luck recovering and happy to see that you are living. You are among the elite category of Jerry who are also probably good skiers :)

Bouncing off a rock at that speed, anything but not walking again or even breathing is not serious.
Crazy. Beginning of 0:04, hard bump, causes his left, inside of the ski to jump then dig into ground/bounce back. At 0:05 , that bounce causes ski to dig in and release appropriately. Din release was not an issue, that rock was the issue lol. Glad the guy is ok.
I don't trust end of the season, rocks, roots, and shit.

I've lived in Jackson Hole most of my life. I love to ski, and have been at it for many decades.
I can't count the number of similar incidents I've witnessed in person here at JHMR and other resorts over the years.
Low skill, high speed, minimal control. What's the attraction?

That's not fair. Happened to me a few years ago. Always clear snow off the bottom of the boot. Still fun to watch. Always wanted a video of me eating it.
In fairness, he had the fastest run of the day. Everyone else wasted time going all the way to the bottom of the hill.

Just removed my elbow and bruised my entire left side, helmet saved my life though.
Technician had the release settings correct.

Tight style/technique to start off but intentionally picked up a lot speed very quickly, if the DIN wasn't the problem, at the beginning of the 5th sec that left ski really seemed to flex all over the place after running across a very small bit of crud, It all happens in those 10 tenths of the 5 second mark. Left ski has gone nuts, don't know why he had to lean right and forward and just bad luck he then caught his edge. Still having played over and over at .25 speed the last few tenths of the 5th second, the ski release is so instantaneously, of course having picked up fair bit of speed, but if the ski had held to the boot, IDK, he may have skied out of it. What obviously sent him pitching up and airborne is not the fall but a bloody rock after he was halfway through the first harmless somersault. Would like to know what skis he was on.

8:00 am: I made a snowman.
8:10 -A feminist passed by and asked me why I didn't make a snow woman.
8:15-So, I made a snow woman.
8:37 - My feminist neighbor complained about the snow woman's voluptuous chest saying it objectified snow women everywhere.
8:20The gay couple living nearby threw a hissy fit and moaned it could have been two snow men instead.
8:22-The transgender man..women...person asked why I didn't just make one snow person with detachable parts.
8:25 - The vegans at the end of the lane complained about the carrot nose, as veggies are food and not to decorate snow figures with
8:28-1 was being called a racist because the snow couple is white.
8:31 - The middle eastern gent across the road demanded the snow woman be covered up.
8:40-The Police arrived saying someone had been offended.
8:42-The feminist neighbor complained again that the broomstick of the snow woman needed to be removed because it depicted women in a domestic role.
8:43 - The council equality officer arrived and threatened me with eviction.
8:45-TV news crew from ABC showed up. I was asked if I know the difference between snowmen and snow-women? I replied "Snowballs" and am now called a sexist.
9:00-1 was on the News as a suspected terrorist, racist, homophobe sensibility offender, bent on stirring up trouble during difficult weather.
9:10-1 was asked if I have any accomplices. My children were taken by social services.
9:29 - Far left protesters offended by everything marched down the street demanding for me to be arrested.
Moral:
There is no moral to this story. it is what we have become, all because of snowflakes.
