How stressful is working as an ATC? Both the crew and ATC seemed calm, organized, and responsive to the MAYDAY situations. I know this is not always the case, sadly.

What a mistake for American 2049. You can’t say MAYDAY with PAN, these words have different meanings. Mayday is an emergency, PAN is for urgency, they have different procedure and different priorities for the ATC

When will they learn....? With mayday mayday mayday there is NO ambiguity. You may be or are in the shit and all help required. Declaring emergency (eventually, as is often the case) just doesn’t cut it. Pan pan for less serious emergencies. I don’t get why FAA doesn’t roll this out as the standard.
