MS Swaminathan: Architect of the Green Revolution who fueled India's agricultural self-sufficiency

Dr. M.S. Swaminathan, the man behind India's Green Revolution, passed away at the age of 98. Motivated by the tragic event of the Bengal Famine, he decided to work in the field of agriculture to serve his country. His collaboration with Norman Borlaug led to the development of high-yield wheat, which played a vital role in making India self-sufficient. He received numerous awards in his lifetime, but his greatest legacy is the upliftment of millions of Indian farmers.

Disheartened to know that he was not awarded bharat ratna. Another proof that south indians are often overlooked for their achievements in their subject area. With substantial percentage still depending on agriculture, he should have been awarded to encourage young minds in to the sector. Stop awarding bharat ratna to cricketers.
