Hello mr. Hammer!nice work maestro!congratulations. Of course you deserve a thumb up.and I givehim to you with a pure consience.keep your mojo and keep the faith.with sticky greetings from sandy Brandenburg germany.faithfully yours.your modellmate.christian
Great build, I have this kit in my stash. Just a quick note about the red primer. It was applied before the zimmerit was applied so you would not see it in areas where the zimmerit was applied unless the zimmerit was damaged. You have inspired me to make this kit the next one I build.
That was a pretty good build! Nice blend of weathering techniques and great explanations to why and what. Got myself this kit in a white Dragon box an look forward to build it!
I do gloss, decals, gloss or matt depending on what weathering, weathering, (repeat last 2 as needed), final matt coat, any small gloss details if needed eg wet oil. I have 5 Tamiya panel liners, 6 AK washes, 5 Vallejo pigments and 3 Windsor & Newton oils. I recently bought some MIG oil brushers which I haven't used yet and some AK markers which seem to be way too thick to be usable for larger areas. I tried painting a 1/72 Tiger hull with the dunkelgelb marker and it just looked wrong, more like a plastic toy in fact 😅
@@matthewpeters9620 Be aware there’s two versions of this kit released by Dragon, but with the same prooduct number: One with vinyl DS tracks (which has hollow guide horns, and from what I understand is historically correct, if that’s important) and one with the single link plastic “Magic Tracks” (guide horns not hollow).
I have made models for 60 years. I think decals first, then weathering. I enjoyed your build and explanations. You mentioned oil paints. Are these enamels, or actual oil paints as in art class?
Thanks, yeah, I use Winsor & Newton oil paints, from the craft store. For the cost of $5-6 a tube, they'll last me for years. I just use odorless mineral spirits for thinning/cleaning.
@@HammerheadModelMaking I've put off building a Tiger for years because the rivet police had kind of taken the fun out of it. But, I bought the Big 3 box of Takom Tigers and am just going to go to town on them.
Here is the primer I used for this project: Rust-Oleum 249086 Painter's Touch 2X Ultra Cover, 12 Fl Oz (Pack of 1), Flat Red Primer, 12 Ounce a.co/d/2zeLcAp
It wasn't bad, it felt a little soft/shallow to what I would consider a good zimmerit, but considering there aren't many kits out there with the zimmerit molded on, it worked well enough.
Couple things. There are pictures of screens being missing so you could have put the other on. As to tge screens? They are a loose fitting screen so easy thing to do take a pencil or something round and push down the areas of screen not on the actual deck parts of the tank. It adds an easy realistic touch.
Hi mate, late comment, great vid, given u r thinking of building carious tiger, should remove the key shield symble at the front, that is the 1st ss panzer division Michael witmanns unit, carius is regular army and was part of 502,
Cordialement.
Great looking Tiger and beautiful looking kit. Weathering was good and not overly done. I enjoyed watching this. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you, I'm glad you enjoyed it!

Thank you very much!
Just bought this kit and looking forward to the build. Thanks for the video and guidance. Keep'em coming!

Too right about the primer/zimmerit. I hadn’t considered that.
Great build and enjoyed the information n reasoning along the way. Can't wait for more. Happy modelling Mr Hammerhead
Glad you enjoyed it, thanks for watching!
Beautiful job!!! Especially the camo pattern, washes, and tools!!
Much appreciated, thanks for watching!
Your work is awesome I really enjoy watching you work on your models
Thank you so much 😀 I appreciate your viewership!

Nice! Good luck with your build, the tracks can be a bit fiddley!
Thank you for this enjoyable video. Just getting started and the product info was very helpful. Keep ‘em coming!
Thank you! Will do!
Thank you for the tips! Have the Takom 3 pack that includes an Otto Carius.
Oh nice! I picked that up as well!
Awesome build & techniques. Preparing to try my first ARV, a Takom 1/35 Tiger 1.
Awesome, good luck with your build!

Nice, sounds like you have a solid process in place!
Beautiful work!!! Makes me want to jump out of airplanes and try some armor.
Armor can be fun! You should definitely give it a try!
@@HammerheadModelMaking my son 8 years old wants to try armor. Maybe we'll try this kit.

Lovely paint job I hope you put it on a better diorama as the wheels dont sit on the tracks top or bottom,we all live and learn, keep going😊
For sure, this was my first dragon kit in nearly a decade, and it does require a bit of a learning curve! Will do better on the next one.
I have never seen period reference of black C-hooks or other tools. Nice result though. I never took my mid review past a base coat.
This was a commission build and there were many aspects of the paint job that were requested specifically by the client.
A lovely tidy build. Nice to see
Thank you kindly, thanks for watching!
The forward bulges on the handles of the wire cutters were the same color as the handles themselves.
Appreciate the info! Thank you for sharing.

More armored vehicles please 😀
I'll do my best!
which one Red primer exactly did you use?

gr8 looking build, i love the colours you used, gr8 looking tiger, got me thinking, i will have to build a dragon kit 🤔😊
Thank you, this was a fun project. I would recommend this kit.
Great build... as you wrote "going off the kit instructions" so you didn't get lost in details. Which paint did you use for the red primer?
Thanks, for the red primer I used Rustoleum's 2X primer in red out of the spray can. Its not a perfect match for German red primer, but its close.
@@HammerheadModelMaking Looks more than close to me 👌
How good is this zimmerit compare to home made or pre made zimmerit?

Nice
Thanks!

wrong insignia. Otto served in the 502nd heavy panzer battalion, your tank has insignia of the liebstandarte division.
That was a decision by the client, he requested that insignia as well as the kill rings on the barrel of the gun.

Yes, you are correct about the markings, however, this was a commissioned project and the client requested the markings.
DFETAIL: PAINTING wise, you are the best since Verlinden and a couple of modern folks. GREAT JOB !
Wow, thank you! That’s very kind of you to say!
