As soon as the melody from the OG J-E-N-O-V-A track hit, I said: "NO. NO FUCKING WAY YOU DID THAT!" Pure bliss and nostalgia hit me then and there. Lifeclinger Phase 4, I fucking SALUTE you!
As much as I absolutely hated the ending, the boss marathon and completely unnecessary longhaired Mr Mommyissues fight *with a passion, the J-E-N-O-V-A theme still slaps after over 25 years, and still will in another 50. *IMHO, insisting on having Sephiroth as endboss for every part is one of the biggest mistakes they made with the Remake series (which I still love). Although I admit I'm biased, becuase I loathe Sephiroth. Not because 'OMG he's so evil and intimidating, let's get him', but because he's concentrated edgelord cringe to me.But again, that's just my opinion.
I absolutely understand why you feel this way, however, from a gameplay stance it makes sence. Part 1 wouldn't be very climactic if you beat the robot on midgar expressway and then the game ended there and you had to wait four years. Same thing goes for here, although this time they actually used a boss from the og rather than something different (although, you never actually fight Sephiroth in the og aside from the cutscene where you kill him with omnislash, only bizzaro and safer). However, there's no need to arbitrarily amp up the tension with timelines and sephiroth and shit for part 3 because there's all of the stuff from og that's been saved for that purpose.
