You are a good teacher. Thank you for your thorough explanations and your patience to even cover the steps that probably to you seem so obvious, but to us they are revelatory! Thanks!
THANK YOU PETE!!!!! We just started our counter top design and ran into small problems. We took just about everything we bought back to Homes Depot and did what you did. We saved 800 dollars. It's for our garage and we didn't need all the expensive stuff to build this one. The better one will go in the house, lol. We will be using ours for cooking and in harvesting our garden goods. To much mess in our home kitchen. We do have air conditioning in the garage and the big pantry is in there too. We doubled the length because all our harvesting vessels and tools will be contained. Extra large pots, dehydrators, slow cookers, pressure canners and anything else you can think of. Our home kitchen has been decluttered and it looks nice. GOD bless you and your family.
Great project. Thank you for sharing and giving all the great information. I have been thinking on this idea and you gave awesome pointers and very thorough. I luv it!
I LOVE❤your detailed how-to video!!!! Knowledge Sharing, Lessons Learned Along The Journey Videos is what has enabled me to be a DIYer and save so much money!!! I love people being shocked when, upon asking “Where did you get that?” I am able to say “I made it” and enjoy the disbelief 😆😄😏Thank You Pete B. for showing and sharing with us how you too made your kitchen island and saved yourself a nice amount of money! 💪🏾
Howdy Pete! Awesome job! That looks really good. You should get a lot of years of use out of it for sure. Perfect level of explanation. Thanks for sharing 🤠
Thanks for showing every step. True that cabinets from the big box stores aren't cheap, though their construction is. Note how the particle board falls apart from just the drywall screws. You improved the strength greatly with the plywood backing sheet needed to finish them.
Looks good Mr…, my cousin did the same .. but he put up a Mika top on it and he painted everything really didn’t paint stained it kind of looks rustic, but it looks good and it’s the same concept. It’s really good Pete.
Looks great Pete! Another satisfying project and this one is great because you are gonna get a TON of use out of it. Practical and looks really good. Way to go! 🥳
@@frogmanvcHe took three cabinets, put them together, and made them into a cohesive unit that looks nice and functions well. It does the job. That's DIY!
Really great video! I watched in 2x speed lol. Saving for future reference. How many inches is the overhand for the seating area?? Thanks for taking the time to film and share!
This looks amazing! I am getting ready to build one for my sister. I do have a question though. I have an 8ft length butcher block. Can I cut it and butt it side to side to make it wider? Will that look ok?
I wouldn’t recommend using a stain on a butcher block counter top because the stain is most likely not food safe. The stain could seep out of the counter and into your food, causing the food to taste bad and possibly be toxic. There is food safe stains, but I prefer not use anything on the wood if it’s going to be used for food.
Do you mean the poly coating? I don’t think he stained it. Maybe I missed that. It’s my understanding that poly is fine for food prep once cured. I’d want to let it cure anyway to prevent marking it up.
Great time saving idea buying thecabinenets, but with due respect, I think your workmanship is shoddy to say the least. That weight baring top will make easy work on the cabinets and if they last I will be very surprised.

Thank you 👍
How is he a good teacher ? I guess you never went to school.
Thank you most people cut out a lot of the steps you showed, your video made it look like I could actually do this 👍🏻

Hello , i am from Germany your Kitchenisland is very nice, i search for and K-Island and i hope my looks like maybe the same Style.
Thanks bro

You can do that but there will be a line where the ends meet. There should be videos on UA-cam that'll show you how it's done.
Looks good...great job
Thanks 👍
How long was the overhang and at what length do I need a brace
My overhang is 14 inches and the table top is 1.5 inches thick. I wouldn't go any more than that before you would need to brace it.
Do you have a problem with it moving around. Do you think I should add some 2x4 blocks under the Island and screw the Island to them to secure it?
Should you coat the top and the bottom?
@@loraestabrooks7 You can coat the bottom if you want but it's not really necessary.
Do I need to anchor this into my kitchen floor at all?
No not at all
@@petebeasttexashomesteading it won’t potentially tip over if someone leans on it or something?
@@bart8245 We lean on the over hang and it doesn't budge.

I don't think he plans on cutting food directly on this counter top. It's simply a counter top.
Wouldn’t the poly coat prevent that? 😅
Looks really nice. I’m planning on doing the same thing. ❤

P.S. Your music choice at 17min was beautiful and just perfect. Where did you find it?
Thanks, I get it from Epidemicsound.com, the song is called marigold seeds and the artist is Tape Machines.

Where did you buy your Butcher Block Top?
I think it was Lowe's
Omg,I need someone to do mine lol
Like to know where you got that countertop
I purchased it at Lowe's
What height are those stools?
They are 28 inches high.
So why not buy used cabinets?!
That would work if you can find them.

what's with the army boots???
Boom, it's gone.
Nice. We are going to build one this weekend. Once question.... Are you happy with it? 😂😂
@@0_Comprimise9 Yes very happy and we use it all the time in our videos.
