Even if you're a state employee who has been employed with the state for 10+ years in the same department.
Age discrimination is extremely hard to prove, and even if you can, and a successful judgment is found against the employer, they can appeal it so that it takes years before getting any kind of settlement, during which time they can find all kinds of loopholes so that they don't have to pay out jack...Just saying...

Every case and every situation are different, and this apply pretty much to every employment case.
I'm 53 and my boss is trying to fire me and ruin my career. Somebody's got to do something about this, it's out of hand and so wrong. Apparently unless they mention your age, they can do whatever they want, so I don't know what the "40 and over" thing is for.
