Dishonored 1&2? Every aspect of design - from gameplay, to aesthetics, to sound - was meticulously considered and flawlessly executed. It articulates the Looking Glass Studio's philosophy of immersive simulation with verve and originality, and it does so whilst empowering the player beyond anything the genre had seen before. Moreover it embraces and responds to the player's agency both deeply and broadly throughout - all the while conveying a compelling and original series of organically nested narratives within the world of its wider plot.
COD4 is way too low. That campaign changed the game in 07. It setup what eventually became the biggest FPS game on the market whether we like it or not. It’s a top 5 FPS Campaign IMO, especially for that time.

No F.E.A.R..? This is outrageous 😅
Oh yes FEAR was and still is outstanding
F.E.A.R., while far from perfect was one of the first if not the first to really push realistic physics and lighting, shadowing, high end textures, etc. Ground breaking at the time. This list was garbage. Missing fear, Killzone, crysis, etc
F.E.A.R. also helped jump start the ai that is in any competent FPS nowadays. It was a landmark of the FPS genre. Literally.
@@reykennedy5716 Fear and Killzone should absolutely be on here, but the most insulting absence imo is Deus Ex.
Return to Castle Wolfenstein will always be my no.1
True that
Wolfenstein as a whole was amazing
Infinite Warfare is hella underrated imo, would also add MW2 the battle of Washington was bad ASS, Metroid Prime, Killzone 2&3, Perfect Dark, and the criminally underrated The Walking Dead VR game.
Metroid Prime & Perfect Dark not being on this list is kinda crazy.
@@thebotfather9508 yeah their list was good but i was still expecting those to be on there. Oh well
I never think of Metroid Prime as an FPS game so it totally makes sense not being here. Perfect Dark definitely belongs though. Best campaign of that old school style.
Completely agree with you in Infinite Warfare. I thought that campaign was incredible. I’m not huge into COD campaigns, but that one stuck with me.
@@IonSquared not when they have Bioshock on this list. Bioshock is not really an FPS, its more of an immersive sim/RPG. but if you're going to put Bioshock on the list, then Metroid Prime definitely should be on this list. I bet there's more shooting in Metroid Prime than in Bioshock.... ijs.
F.E.A.R. is also an amazing solo fps game. If you haven't played it, I encourage you to try it. One of the best fps games I've played.
Yeah not being on the list is bananas to me
Hell yeah I couldn’t put that down when first came out. Slow mo and sci fi mix with call of duty Fear2 and 3 was fun too. 3 nice simple brutal fun
The whole time I was thinking how Goldeneye was gonna be number 1 for sure
I was betrayed
Oh wow I completely forgot about that! Definitely should be on the list somewhere, N64 classic.
Once again, Perfect Dark gets completely overlooked...
@@RokushoTheRavager Perfect dark was so good when it came out. Have an upvote.
@@4HYRULEM4STER I played both Goldeneye & Perfect Dark when I was a kid and I preferred Goldeneye, but as I got older and matured Perfect Dark became my favorite and I'd even argue it's my #1 favorite FPS. You know Doom is only on there to make the list seem like it is including the older classics.
Yes. Duke Nukem is one of my fav childhood memories.

You misspelled “PERFECT DARK.”
I loved perfect dark. I wish it was on here, At least as an honorable mention
Good to see Doom in this list (the best in this list imo)... Here are some honorable mentions that are longer and better than some short campaign fps mentioned imo:
Turok: Dinosaur Hunter (N64 - 1997)
007 goldeneye (N64)
Far cry games (Xbox 360 and Xbox One)
Perfect dark (N64)
Doom 2 (PC)
Doom 64 (N64)
Deus Ex: Human Revolution (Xbox 360)
Portal 2 (Xbox 360)
Red faction (PS2)

Timesplitters 2, to be precise
no Metroid Prime?
It's technically an FPA "First Person Adventure" but I agree it should be on the list as well as Goldeneye.

Far cry
Great list. I would also add Black Mesa, it’s a fantastic single player game.
For me personally, System Shock 2 is my #1. That game still blows me away today. Super happy to see Titanfall 2 ranked so high on this list, very underrated game.
I still get goosebumps when I play the titanfall 2 campaign. It's really good. Trust me ;)

Loved every game on this list and each deserve their spot - especially Titanfall 2! I will say however that both F.E.A.R and Black Mesa certainly deserved an honourable mention IMO. The Crowbar Collective did a phenomenal job with BM; improving on the original HL campaign among other things, and the soundtrack is killer. I’d recommend checking it out, especially the XEN soundtrack.
Titanfall 2 was a hell of a time for sure, was gonna be a little peeved if it wasn't on here

And since y'all here reading this comment and you're in the mood for FPS campaigning, here's some others to try:

Unreal Tournament 2004
Turok (1 or 2)
Serious Sam first or second encounter (not 2)
Crysis
Metro series
S.T.A.L.K.E.R

The killzone and Resistance games were also very good shooters.
TITANFALL 2 ALL THE WAY! sooooo underrated!!
Kinda shocked to see the repeats. Could've thrown in any of the Far Crys, Deus Exs, Portal 2, etc. Remember Alien V Predator? Playing as the Alien or Pedator was SO well done and ground breaking IMHO.
What about oo7 GoldenEye N64
Dishonored 1&2? Every aspect of design - from gameplay, to aesthetics, to sound - was meticulously considered and flawlessly executed. It articulates the Looking Glass Studio's philosophy of immersive simulation with verve and originality, and it does so whilst empowering the player beyond anything the genre had seen before. Moreover it embraces and responds to the player's agency both deeply and broadly throughout - all the while conveying a compelling and original series of organically nested narratives within the world of its wider plot.
Not an FPS - those games are immersive sims
Golden eye ,halo, perfect dark ,bioshock, cod 1,4&blackops. Halo has got the most to offer I’d argue.
the two new rebooted Doom games kinda destroy Halo as far as campaigns go.especially Doom Eternal.

One of the best FPS campaigns I’ve ever played is Homefront. I think it flew under the radar for a lot of people.
