Great build, setup looks awesome. Would love a video of electronic setup and the software portion as well. I habe experience with the manufacturing part, but hesitant about the rest
Great video! I get that funny mosaic pattern too. Not sure what the cause of it is. It feels like it coincides with the rotation with the ball screw but it doesn’t line up last I remember.
That 3F I got for wall finishing, but wanted to see how it differed from the 1F. Both DLC. I got a BAP as well with some PCD inserts. Will see how that goes next since it’s geared more for floor finish. At least the thickness is pretty spot on. I’m still so stoked to see that with a ply & MDF base. Already ordered parts to do Logan’s dual Z mod.. not looking forward to tramming again. 😂
Absolutely awesome build. And look at that neat control box! Are those Mean Well NDRs? I'd love to see a video of you discussing parts and layout choices on that box in the future. That is the only part in the build that kind of intimidates me.
Thanks! Yup, I ditched the Chinese PSU's and went with MeanWell for known quality. As I did quite a few other places. I work with electrical quite a bit, so I had that box completely built out in a day or so. But the biggest thing that confuses people is a messy layout. For my sanity and others. I cleaned it up quite a bit and fully plan on doing a small walkthrough of just the control box wiring when I get a chance. It's actually really easy once it's walked through, especially when it's easy to follow like my box and wired up with the Hal2k EST (or the new Flexi).
Hey nice setup Hank! Question what “work area” size is your printnc? I’m assuming that is the actual cutting area? Also how much room do you have outside the “work area”? 2-3 inches on each side would you say? Im wanting to order one soon but I can’t figure out what I need to order exactly as far as size. I need to be able to cut 48” in both directions.
So mine had a 50” x 50” work area. I believe the outside dimensions was something like 66” x 68”? Something like that. Just use the PrintNC calculator and use dual rollers on both X & Y for some added cushion. Especially if you have the space and want to cut aluminum. But, can always ask in the discord or input the dimensions into the CAD.
@@VoltageStudio I joined discord but tbh it’s a little hard getting the hang of using it lol. If you use double rollers on both axis don’t you use a little travel? Not a deal breaker I can go bigger to offset that. What are your thoughts on 2x4 gantry since I’ll be pretty wide to begin with?
@@thedude6650 As long as you compensate on the design, you don’t lose any usable space. If you go single roller then upgrade, you’ll loose travel. 100% 2x4 for the gantry. The remainder 2x3. That’s how I built mine.
@@thedude6650 I’m actually not currently making these. But, I’m sure someone in the Discord is. Best bet is to check Marketplace posts! Enjoy the build.
It’s all 4545 aluminum. So, heavy duty stuff. Handles the CNC weight no issue. It is super expensive though.. Enclosure was about if not more than the CNC cost.

@@VoltageStudio thanks for all the great info! I’m interested in getting some of your plates you make. How do I get in touch? You on IG?

What controller board are you using?
What did you build your enclosure out of and what did it take to support the weight of the machine?
