How close should I bring my metal panels at the top of my ridge. I'm using an r-type panel from home depot. They have a simple metal ridge cap that screws over the top. I have a single wide trailer next to a ski mountain. There's very little pitch on the roof. We get lots of standing snow up to one foot deep. Should I bring the panels to touch each other or leave a space. I'm not really concerned about venting. I should mention this is an installation over existing shingles. Your advice would be appreciated. Thank you!
had a standing seam 26 gauge metal roof installed on my beach house a few years back and within a month or so, bats moved in to the attic through holes they made in the ridge cap and hornets came in through the ridges at the eaves. How do you stop that problem?
Another question about metal scrapes on a brown painted roof just like your video. I do have scratches up there will it hurt the roof having scratches up there you're pretty significant
We are in a heavy snow load area. 15 ft. of snow accumulation last year. There is a heavy "crush factor" on the air voids in the vented ridge systems. Is there a solution for this? Can you walk on this ridge without damage? Also looking for a system that eliminates the need for fasteners through the top.

Because of poorly designed ridge vents I have had to replace several ceilings that suffered water damage. I have had the ridge vents changed more than once. Still not perfect. Thinking of going to a metal roof. How well do vented ridge caps works under severe weather and on a low slope roof? Will the smooth roof cause me an even bigger problem with water being blown under the cap? Is there a special cap to buy for my specific condition?
Why not bend the roofing panel up and then install vented z closure? We’ve also done solid z closure and then flat vented strips with a raised vented cap Just asking why the CorAvent …..
I just got A brand new metal roof just like your video. I live in South Florida,I feel that they did not honor my ventilation situation that I strived for. I'm very angry and upset if I post a video on my page would you be willing to look at it and tell me what you think with your experience I would get up on the roof show you my roof top ventilation and I would crawl into my hot attic and show you the underneath for the ventilation. The company that installed my roof said it's to the manufacturer inspect so if anything ever happens my warranty will not be damaged. And the long story short before I even got my roof they agreed to give me what I wanted for my roof ventilation because that's my main concern is getting the hot air out and they just did what they wanted to do at the end of the day. I got tuna inspections from my roof coming soon this week and I want somebody else's opinion if you're interested I will make the videos and upload them and make another comment when they're uploaded.
I am in precisely the same situation at this very moment. I just went by AAA roofing company. They're going to come by and give a second opinion. Sadly, I had tried a different smaller roofing company since Monday 5 days ago calling them 3 days and going there today. Ultimately to realize they were not interested to give a second opinion at all. But AAA is a huge excellent company. They're going to come. Give me a second opinion. I highly recommend them. As I said I would henceforth, I don't know how I'm going to recover my loss that contractor didn't attempt to install a ventilation system like this. It's just a walk in the park for the bugs straight into the attic. God forbid I get a driving rain. It's coming straight in and there is no proper venting at all. They basically blocked it all off like you said as they wanted to thanking people aren't savvy and I'm not. I trusted them but I knew it was wrong from the time they said it was a roof over and the vents would be staying in place. They're tearing. The vents out has been disturbing ultimately to see it sealed up and not even a water tight fashion has been shocking. I totally understand and and empathetic to your circumstance, but I'm just a homeowner like you. Trusting people does not go as far as it used to Any contract in the future will have one written by me to parallel it with them, signing it, making sure the oral agreement matches what they say and or supersedes it. It's a sad world we're living in
If you want a standing seam roof be prepared to pay dearly . The labor alone takes up to 10 times as much for details like this compared to exposed fastener style... its real quality for sure but this doesn't come cheap
It was not obvious how hot air exists the attic. There is a sturdy structural ridge beam below the center of the ridge through which hot air cannot pass.
I never understood metal packages that have a ton of exposed fasteners. I’m currently installing a dmi standing seam roof package and instead of having a hook at the gutters edge. They want 5 neoprene screws. Also the cap calls to have a screw in the rib. This is all per installation paperwork. Dumbest stuff I’ve seen. Always thought it was about trying to not have any exposed fasteners. Whats bad is if I do it the right way dmi will void the warranty.
You got be kidding me with that ridge vent detail. Bend your panels up at the ridge and caulk the corners. Then install Profile vent gluing at down with Vulkem 116. Then cleat both sides of the ridge just like your valleys. Then install your Ridge hemmed on to the cleat. RIVET the ridge to the cleat.

Nice, here in FL we use Razor back, with perforated Z closure. easier and faster to install and of course no water penetration!

With that much snow, you likely have no reason to vent your ridge - primarily performed in regions with more hot days than cold.
If i am doing that many rivets, i would invest in a pneumatic or cordless battery rivet tool.
