I've been twice so far I went to the Newport jetty last weekend it was so nice got my first limit of rockfish. I'm heading out this Saturday. I'm hoping I'm gonna get my first ling. I seen a few last weekend I just couldn't get them. I got so much better in just two dives.

I fish the jetty all the time I just started getting gear to start spear fishing out there. Any easy advice for a beginner. What size wet?suit 7mm and how deep do you usually go on that jetty. Doesn't seem to deep.
@@JohnAnderson-ze2hu Ya definitely get a 7mm wet suit!! Make sure wo watch a video how to clean the silicone out of your mask with a lighter and tooth paste, then get defogger gel or spray! Deepest is low 30 feet maybe on high tides but you can get fish in even shallower water for sure!
@@JohnAnderson-ze2hu I wouldn't be surprised im usually out there alot if thr conditions are good! Dang ya you are almost ready! I dive that jetty all the time! Great shots! Quick tip, poke the fish thru the eyes with your stringer. Its way faster and you have less issue with your gloves getting into those teeth. The skull is extremely hard too, so it wont pull out or rip out.
The videos are always so murky. Is your vision better underwater than the video? I love lingcod but how can you target them with that reduced visibility? Murky water also makes it tougher to spot trouble.
Ya your vision is a bit better underwater on days like this, but This is considered good visibility for Oregon, A lot of the time we get like 5-6 ft of visibility days, but can still usually find fish, but its a lot tougher, and a bit spookier lol
