I was genuinely worried when I only saw five books at first. I kind of loved the absolute gall Jack had when he'd be like, 'Yeah, I'm going to read these twelve books' and then a day later on Insta he shows a book that was definitely not on the TBR list bc he's a mood reader
LOOOL
This is so me!
Xd
that's very much me
Not to sound like a creepy weirdo but your facial hair to head hair ratio is 100% in this video. You're positively glowing, Jack! The power of having your own library.
List of Books
0:26 Best of Friends by Kamila Shamsie
2:28 Penance by Eliza Clark
6:08 Mrs. S by K. Patrick
8:19 Brutes by Dizz Tate
9:55 Letters to Milena by Franz Kafka
thanks, i saved the first one and then just kept watching mesmerized.
Didn't Jack just record a video on his main channel saying that Mrs S wasn't as exciting as he thought? Always knew he was a time traveler, there's no way to read so many books without the ability to control time
haha this video was pre-filmed about 2 weeks ago and I read Mrs S last week!
Seeing you read Kamila's books and liking them makes me very happy as a Pakistani this just feels great that my fav youtuber has that diversity.
Because of Jack my TBR keeps growing!!!!
For those of you who are interested in the topics of female friendship and growing up as a girl in the beginning of the 20th century in Paris, I highly recommend the first book of Simone de Beauvoir's memoir: "mémoires d'une jeune fille rangée". So many interesting observations and reflections about her childhood and youth. Amazing read
To: Jack 🙋
I love what you said in another of your videos about reading a book. It went "something like this"... There are two stories. One is written in black and white on the book pages, and the other is the story about you reading that book.
That's beautiful and poetic, in my personal opinion.
Jack’s filming in his library, my go-to cozy channel just became even cozier 🤍
Happy to see the September TBR revealed. Maybe I’ll get some inspiration to read. Also, happy to hear you’re not being unhinged with your TBR.
Jack! I’m reading Open Water because of your recommendation and it has me crying in the PROLOGUE 😭😭 I’m looking forward to finishing it.
ME TOOO!! I just started it and it's already so beautiful
I read it because of jacks recommendation too last year. And then you can read small worlds. A beautiful author
You always pick amazing unique and beautiful books Jack and love it ❤
8:52 I’m the opposite: I love learning about flowers.
Bougainvillea (Boo-gun-Vee-yuh)
Good luck on your September TBR! I’m filming mine today…though I haven’t decided what I want to read yet!
“You lucky sausage” 😂😂😂
Definitely adding some of these to my TBR list!! I’m from Texas and pronounce that flower’s name “Boo-gun-vee-yuh” they’re lovely!
that bookshelf though 🤩🤩 a million out of ten
also you choose such interesting books… Penance sounds so thrilling
I absolutly looooove the bookshelfs in the back as the new video background
I'm hoping to clean my library tomorrow and hopefully be inspired and find some books to read. You have some very interesting choices.
Happy September full of books and love❤❤❤
love that book ! a classic jack read.
Hope you love and enjoy all the books you read in September 😊
Jack, you should try „Milkman“ by Anna Burns. It‘s literally just 300 pages of an inner monologue - written beautifully, but unfortunately not for me. The whole time reading it I thought „oh, Jack would love this!“
I loved this book so much!!! I often think about it even after two years.
loved this video!
please tell me am I not the only one who says "hello everyone and welcome back to my second channel. welcome back to Jack in the Books~" alongside Jack
Best friends sounds so sweet and wonderful book definitely going to check it out read it 😊❤
SO EXCITED!! ❤❤
jack it is time to read 'my brilliant friend'!!! don't procrastinate any longer x
Letters to Milena reminds me of Correspondance which are letters written between Albert Camus and Maria Casares that haven’t been published in english yet but I can’t wait
brutes has been on my tbr for a little bit.. I should've bought it when I had the chance!
You mentioned Letters to Milena by Franz Kafka and it's in fact pronounced as [Mill-lain-ah]. Please, don't take it personally 🤓 but since it's a czech name, I had this intense urge to correct you. Sending love from Czech Republic! 🇨🇿❤️
My great-grandparents had a daughter who died as a baby and her name was Milena. They were from Yugoslavia.
@@Tams1978 I'm not saying that this name cannot occur in a different language or that it originates in Czech language, just that it is a czech name as well. Kafka's letters are addressed to czech journalist Milena Jesenská, and both her name and surname are czech. However, it's interesting to find out that Milena appears in another language, that's news to me! :)
@@amm-xn6nrI wasn’t saying that either, I just thought it was cool that the name is from other countries as well, plus it was nice finding out how it’s pronounced. 😊
Seeing you butcher my favorite flower was a highlight fr 😂😭 We pronounce it as 'bow gain vee leea', also they're gorgeous creepers that you must've seen covering walls and stuff!!
we missed you!!
Jack, I recommend the book "The Glass Castle" by Jeannette Walls if you haven't yet. Add it to your want to read list for october. The Glass Castle is a remarkable memoir of resilience and redemption, and a revelatory look into a family at once deeply dysfunctional and uniquely vibrant.
Petition for Jack to have a podcast!!
love this
I’ve actually read 3 of these books before Jack! Never thought that day would come 😮
i'm reading penance atm and really enjoying it!
The bookstore where i work has a podcast and they did a fascinating episode with kamila shamsie about best of friends
I hope you go to Yall Fest in South Carolina in November. I would like to see some footage and thoughts on the event. It looks like there will be a ton of authors there.
I hope you are doing well and taking care of yourself (:
Ooooh I wanted so badly to love Penance….. tore through the first 150 pages but then just hit a wall 😭 currently dragging myself through the last 100 pages just to finish it but hopefully you enjoy it a bit more than I am!!
The imprint oft his glasses I can‘t😂
In Australia we pronounce it: Bo gun vilia 🤷♀️
Very excited about these books!!👍
Adding to my TBR right.......now

7:27 This does remind me of ‘The Children’s Hour’ by Lillian Helman
Can you do a video on hoziers book recommendations? 😊😊

And now after this video I'm adding a few more 🤭

0:25 best of friends
2:27 penance
6:03 mrs. s
8:19 brutes
9:50 letters to milena
Letters to Milena sounds so cute 😊
if you do another 'reading *blanks* favourite books', please let it be hozier with his new video documenting his favourite books 🙏
You promised to align the shelves 😢
omh i loved home fire how did you know!!!!!!!!
Omg. I have read “bougainvillea” hundreds of times and I have no idea how to pronounce it either!
I have frequently thought of how embarrassed I’d be if I had to say it out loud
I think you said it the way I would have but obviously that means nothing! 😂
Claire Keegan has a new book.
So Late In The Day
Boh-gain-villa. Common flowers in Malaysia ❤
My day is always brightened when the notification goes off
principle makes for the vetter friend
Try "Not so pure and simple" by Lamar Giles!!!
I just know my wallet is not going to survive this video 😂
Caught this 13 minutes after you posted, like a true swiftie
Brutes is very reminiscent of the virgin suicides, I feel like it's a more female focused, less male gazey version of that book.
hey could you possibly do (or maybe you have done) your best lgbtq+ book recs?? thanks🤭
Jack do you ever read or reply to the comments? I would love to see you more if you do at all. Thanks
You need to open ur eyes, he does reply to comments
Currently reading penance, weird but good tho
explosive like my diaria
Does anyone know where Jack gets his second hand books from?
Abebooks!
i have the book - haven’t read it yet! 😔

I loved Boy Parts but Penance was such a disappointment 😢
Personally hated penance
Great video.I'm currently reading Beyond the Unknown: AI's Quest to Unravel Life's Greatest Mysteries. This book was written by artificial intelligence
Will you be reading House of Doors ?
How do you all make time to read with a full time job and other things? Need help.
Can you listen to audiobooks? Do you take public transport or drive to work? If public transport get reading in then with a physical book. If driving, audiobook. If neither is possible, I read while having breakfast and before bed to help me sleep as well sometimes (that can backfire and I end up staying awake way too late)
@@AvinaGreen Thank you! I have tried my bit with audiobook but never really got hooked to it. I used to read almost 30-40 books a year back in school but since I have joined a job I am only able to read just 1 book in a month and that makes me so sad. I want to get back into my old habits.
@@bethmcmullan7686 I agree,I used to love reading before and I do even now but since I have started to see these booktubers I just become so overwhelmed that Wow! they get to read so much and I can't I think they are doing this fulltime so they get to read a lot. So realistically I wanted to know how do you all manage to do with other things happening.
I try to replace time I spend on social media with reading. When I got back into reading a couple years ago, I only read for like 20 minutes before I went to bed ☺️
@bethmcmullan7686 I will say it's actually totally possible to read the number of books he's read. As someone who is also a fast and rather devoted reader, the only thing stopping me from reaching quite his numbers is that I read longer books. He reads a lot of shorter books, 200-300 pages.
Are all your Library shelves full already? Because I can see a pile of books over on the right that are either on the floor or a chair or a table. Just saying....
❤nice background 😅😂
Hello from British Columbia Canada 🇨🇦👍❤🖐🎨🖌
What did Raggedy Ann say to Pinocchio in the toy box??????😂🎉🤔😅
hi bae
Didn't really enjoy Penance, the writing style put me off and the story wasn't exactly captivating. I'm sure I'm in the minority but I was expecting more, it also felt way too long.
Lol ‘Boy Parts’ is a book you should not shut up about.
😴 Promo-SM
He sure doesn’t engage with his viewers - one sided channel 👎🏼
He does. He has 442 thousand subscribers, though, so he’s not going to be able to respond to everyone, especially rude people like you.
@@Tams1978 not rude at all - just stating a fact . Doesn’t take much to just “like” someone’s comment . Many booktubers have more subscribers and seem to interact .
I don’t see one comment on this video from him - or even a “like”. What video are you watching to claim “he does” comment ?
@@cdal1621 There are other videos where he responds. I’m not going through every single one to find the comments. Why would he respond to you considering how rude and demanding you are!
