Just got the blu ray steelbook for so cheap, and was absolutely blown away by this movie!!! Amazing production value for 1961, beautiful effects. Mothras design and puppetry is fantastic, especially the wings fluttering

As you may know, Mothra 1960 was the first kaiju to ever destroy the Tokyo tower in any movie.

Compare Mothra from her debut in 1961 to Godzilla in the 1964 film “Mothra vs Godzilla.” Godzilla would be overpowered by Mothra.

Maser and tbh, no, not really in a sense. While similar, the Heat Ray Gun has no relations to the Maser cannon as the Heat Ray Gun in canon uses atomic energy to power up it Heat Ray, where as the Maser cannons use microwave technology to create the maser beams.
