A friend of my dad's told me not to wear it because I smelled like an older rich guy's mistress. ... that didn't stop me! I kept on wearing it until the very last drop! 😀

I'm old enough to have met First when it came out. I remember thinking that it smelled rich and heady. I had a sample from Paris. I used to buy my fragrances by mail from Michel Swiss. Long before the internet!! Love to watch your videos.

The original first van cleef is best of all. Been using it since the first day it came out till now. Won't change it for any other smell. With time, if you don't use any other smell. It will turns to be your personal smell even when you don't have it on you!

+nadia montasser you're right; First is reminiscent of those classic floral bouquets. We feel like they would need more of a mossy woody base to really be more chypre.
I'm curious if the bottle and perfume you are discussing here is vintage or the present (God knows number which reformulation). As a rule if you wore and adored a classic you are disappointed, even angry when to meet the new formulation.
