I legitimately grew up with both shows!! To be honest, looking back 03 version did literally have us a lot of great aggressive attitude with cool action scenes, the humor of each turtle’s character still shows how they really interact with their personalities mix with unique comedy just like 2012 version but different. Plus the 03 April and pirai was my big childhood crush 😍❤️still to this day.
I’ll say this. Whether or not you like 2012 or 2003, it’s amazing that these two versions of the show created a massive part of the Tmnt community. I grew up with 2012 but later checked out 2003 and liked it as much.
It's fine and all to have a fair and balanced opinion, but I'm gonna be that one guy and say that such a thing is not how life works, and so... Yeah 2003 TMNT over all performs better than 2012. I'm way past the time to care about Rise of TMNT, life is short, don't have it in me to put in more of my own personal time into a new series and get caught up in a craze (much like how a trailer for a new game comes out and people tend to be overly enthusiastic for it before it even releases, for months too). The animation of Rise is fluid I'll give it that, but it is too heavily comedy focused from what little I saw. Taking a look at the brief clips of the newest series, it has to be the worst adaptation so far in regards to animation. It's choppy, clearly for the sake of money costs and likely going to be excused by "stylistic choices". I can't complain about it though since it seems it'll be not too different to Rise, being heavily comedy focused while making attempts at episodes with "serious" plots, if Rise had those. 2003 TMNT was action based, yet knew how to sprinkle in comedy in a more natural way so that it didn't interrupt the flow of the plot. The new shows are, well for the foreseeable future, going to be a comedy based series with action being secondary.
I feel more nostalgia with TMNT 2003 overall and I'm going with that one. The stories indeed feel slightly more fleshed out in that one, definitely. But the 2012 one is definitely pretty great too. I grew up with both, in a sense, so I really wanted to hear your opinion on them. Great video!
I love the TMNT 2012 it started me being a TMNT fan. On 2020 I decided to watch the TMNT 2003, and man was it fantastic the story, the writing, and animation, but choosing which version of these two shows are hard. If I have to choose which one is the best it’s the TMNT 2012, because I grow up with this show, and being nostalgia, but both side will agree that both shows are fantastic for their own reasons.
2003 is peak of Tmnt franchise, first 4 seasons of this show is must watch for every tmnt fan, it's just unbeatable, 2012 is pretty good but in compression 2003 is so much better in everything.
In what lmao? Tmnt 2012 has better fight scenes, better comedy, better dialogue, a more emotionally engaging plot, better voice acting, a better backstory for shredder and splinter, and the characters are more three dimensional and complex. The only things I can give to 2003 is the character designs, darker and grittier atmosphere, faithfulness to the comics, more backgrounds and set pieces, and it does it couple of characters better. But Besides from that I really can’t think of much it beats 2012 in.
@@Ooferninja69yeah no that’s all matter of opinion 2003 is better at all of those besides maybe shredders deeper backstory and even then the 03 series still has a more menacing Shredder
@@ShakaHapa no it’s not really all a matter of opinion I can literally prove why all of those thing are better in 2012. And no just because 2012 has 2 weak characters doesn’t mean it’s a reason why 2003 is better it just means like I said it does a few characters better.
@@Ooferninja69 who tf needs comedy?) 2012 has more childish vibe because of this cringe comedy aspects and that is one of the main reasons why 2003 is better, it's just more mature overall, 2012 has some dark scenes but overall it's way more childish, you can see it even without deep analysing lol. Better dialogues really? when I miss the part when 2012 has good dialogues? Krangs and Mikeys cringe jokes for 5 years olds is a good dialogues in this days?) not even near to 2003, seriously did you even watch it? Emotionally engaging plot... it's subjective, for me it's just meh compare to 2003 early seasons. Better voice acting... again subjective. Characters are complex, where lol?) turtles are way more complex in 2003, especially Leo(rewatch season 4) and Mikey, Donny also is way more complex than just dumb teenager with stupid love triangle and stupid jokes 90% of his screen time
I personally prefer the 2003 version over the 2012 one. The 2012 series has issues that not many people want to adress & while the 2003 series is not perfect either, it's still a better experience, especially it's first 5 seasons, because the writing & tone the show had was really great & season 5's ending felt like the show should have ended there, but because of the popularity of the 2003 Ninja Turtles, 4Kids wanted the creators to push the franchise in a more kid friendly direction, which was the reason why the 2003 Ninja Turtles declined in quality. I still enjoy Fast Forward for what it is, but Back to the Sewers was when the series truly went down hill for me. Even though Cyber Shredder's design was pretty dope, giving 03 Ninja Turtles actual eyes while they are wearing masks was really off putting & Donnie's character arc wasn't as well established, because if I wanted to see Donatello have some character development, I wished they did something with him after the episode The Same as it Never Was by giving Donnie PTSD & how that alternative reality really messed him up emotionally. That could have been a better direction in my opinion.
I prefer the 2012 version(Then again that's the version I grew up with)Mainly due to the how more realistic the relationship between Leo,Raph,Donnie and Mikey was handled. They felt like actual brothers and agrued alot. The 2003 never felt like that from what episodes I did watch. Also another then I prefer from the 2012 version is how Mikey is handled, most times he messes things up but then you get moments of him saving the day, ex: Creating the retro mutagen, curing his brothers form the Mutant wasp,Dimension X,etc. This is just my opinion.if you like the 03 show that's cool but for me 2012 takes the cake all the way...Besides 2012 Casey
Not to mention they actually act like teenagers in 2012 and not young adults like 2003. they act nerdy, distracted or immature because they’re still young and haven’t fully discovered their potential yet. Even their design and undeveloped voices reflect their age. Look at 2003 and try to say with a straight face that those beefcakes are teenagers.
I loved the 2012 version no doubt about it but I think the 2003 version overall was better. I never got to see what Shredder looked like in clothes. I saw it in 2003 and I couldn’t even tell the difference. He looked good. The stories were very similiar. The Shredder characters for the show were so close and powerful but I go with 2003 Shredder. The Splinter characters were similiar too but the difference was 2012 Splinter was definitely younger, and 2003 Solinter was older. But both were tough and wise, and very experienced martial artists. I actually liked the 2003 Karai over the 2012 Karai. She was a much better fighter. The only difference between the Aprils was the 2003 version was older and was more of a reporter. 2012 was trained to be a female ninja, and she developed great powers with her mind though. I actually noticed that 2003 Mikey is way better than 2012 Mikey. 2012 Mikey is a weak pushover while 2003 Mikey seems to be much tougher, focused, and more athletic. He seems to be a much better fighter on that show. They definitely act way more like teenagers in the 2012 version because they act too cocky, and distracted, and entitled, and sometimes don’t listen to Master Solinter until it’s blow up in their faces. But the 2003 version of the Turtles are way better as a team, older, more experienced as young adults. Raphael is the same guy in both guys but again 2003 I think is better. He’s too angry in 2012 but both Raphaels have tried to kill his brothers on more than one occasion.
4:32 if you want to talk to intimidating I would be scared of all of the 2003 turtles because they're JACKED! They look huge I was about to say I wouldn't be scared of the 2012 TMNT or Mutant Mayhem TMNT but they could kick my ass.
I think 2012 Leo is better... he actually act like a teen, and does get serious when he has to. I’m 17, I grew up with 2003 version, started watching 2012, honestly like it better, I really love the brotherly relationship , that’s what I wanna see in Teenage mutant turtles.
eh. haven't seen much 2012 and i grew up watching 2003 on youtube but the way i see it is they're not supposed to act like normal teens. they spent their childhood in isolation, being trained for combat. 03 really shows how this affected them while they can still goof off at times. 12 just kind of inserts more generic teen characters into a setting that doesnt really make sense for that.
I personally enjoy both 2D and 3D animation styles , i as a kid loved the first season of TMNT 2012 , lighter tone and a much lesser dark theme however it does not beat TMNT 2003 and yes ! Would love to see 2012 TMNT downfall
For me personally, TMNT 2012 will always be my favorite. I grew up watching this show and aside from the obvious nostalgia for my childhood, I seriously think TMNT 2012 did the best job of everything - moderate humor, moderate drama, moderate dark moments, good character development, better Splinter, better Shredder. At the same time, I still love TMNT 2003 with all my heart, it’s just that a slight preponderance of love for me personally goes to 2012 show.
I do agree with you for the most part, but I do think that the 2012 show should have won. Sure, 2003 was great, but the story telling, the maturing of each of the turtles, and the introductions of already known characters and original ones were done so much better in 2012 (I am unbiased, I love both shows equally, but need to admit that in terms of better show, 2012 wins)
I think overall my preference leans towards 2003, I found it more consistently enjoyable and for whatever reason, at least in a binge setting, I found 2012’s pacing to be kind of lackluster to the point where it was almost frustrating. In 2003 no episode felt misplaced or without reason, they fully committed to the serialized format without episodic plots being really unnaturally jammed between the interesting plot progression. Like don’t get me wrong, those episodic plots are great consumed on their own, but when you’re watching it all at once, the slow drip feed of plot and information becomes reeeeeally noticeable at some points.
Putting 2012 Donnie and Mikey over the 2003 ones? Donnie went from being calm and levelheaded in 03 to being the generic introverted and overly anxious nerd in 12 (and the love triangle is annoying). Mikey went from being witty and just as capable a fighter as his brothers to being just childish and frankly kinda dumb.
The babies of the 2012 turtles made them look they have this kid thing in a way but at least they 2012 turtles actually act like teens and not just witty smart alecks or college student level of fun or anger
i agree with most of your points i am not a huge fan of April 2012, to me they boost her way too much to the point that i think that she became way to powerful for the turtles. which made a lot of scenes that she was in after the 4th season feel pointless at least in my opinion. and The 2012 Cassy is the worst by far April and Donnie would be much better without him cuz he created the stupid love triangle. however 2012 Donnie besides the Love triangle was very charming. and 2012 Mikey was Adorable. however i still think 2003 is better even if Karai was maybe annoying in there but i still think it did a lot of things better then 2012 that being said 2012 version is still a great show.
i grew up with 2003 one so i guess that’s the one for me and also i always loved how dark it was for some parts. And also always loved that 2003 art style.
also when i was a child i used to watch 1987 one too and i like that one very much. Basically the reason why i love 2003 more than 2012 is cuz i was never able to watch 2012 as kid even tho i was born in 2006… but the main reason is that when i was born you could watch 2003 every episode for free at youtube and also u could see most of the 1987 ones from youtube so that’s why i like them more probably cuz i watched them as a kid. Now what comes to 2012 one I also watched it as a kid but only from tv and it came so early in the morning i wasn’t even up most of the time it came out. And It also was aired on nickelodeon and we never had that channel cuz in my country u had to pay to see some channels. SO BASICALLY TO SUM IT UP i may be blinded by the nostalgia when i say this but for me 2003 one is the goat then comes the original 1987 one and then 2012 gets the third place for me
14:45 I respect your opinion But in my opinion I like the way that the 2012 turtles aren't that buff because in that way they came of as actual teenagers and make them realistic
I would agree with you, but ASK AIR is kinda right. They look way too short, desaturated, and bland. Also the heads look weak and weird especially Raphs. I still respect your opinion. tbh, they don’t even look like turtles at first
I was a kid when 2012 was airing but watched a lot of 03 in my spare time as a kid as well. Both shows have really good positives, but even though 2012 has some really good episodes, 2003 is like the Batman the animated series but for TMNT which imo is better.
In my opinion Character score: 2003 scores for Leonardo Raphael April Casey Usagi Leatherhead Fugitoid Baxter Stockman Triceratons Hun Bishop and Karai 2012 scores for Michelangelo Donatello Renet Savanti Ramaro Rat King and Shredder Neither show scores for Splinter or Utroms because I would say there is a draw
2003 Raph Donnie Casey Usagi(as character) Stockman Triceratons( specifically their lore and world building) Hun Bishop 2012 Leo Mikey April Karai(can't stand her 03 character despite all the development) Splinter Shredder Fugitoid Triceratons(more specifically Captain Mozar) Fugitoid Renet Savanti Romero Rat King Usagi(as badass Ronin) Both shows have draw for Leatherhead
I prefer the 03 show for variety of reasons: Characters: I'd say, aside from Splinter, every character from 03 show is superior. Leo from 12 is certainly good, but Leo from 2k3 is so damn good, genuinely might be my favorite version of the character. I love his arc throughout the show, it especially shines in season 4. Donatello individually is good from 12, but I hate his weird boner for April, that love triangle is so wack. 03 Don, whilst the least developed turtle by far, is still a very level-headed, mature nerd who is fun to watch. With Mikey, it's not even a contest. I HATE 2012 Mikey, he acts like a fucking infant. 2k3 Mikey, while immature, doesn't come across as dumb but rather too emotional and lazy, but he can be fucking terrifying when shit gets down. Season 4 episode Grudge Match shows this brilliantly, where Mikey has to fight for his life after the match has been rigged and after his family is threaten, he beats the living shit out that brute in couple of seconds basically. I love that version of Mikey. Ralph however is pretty close, but I still slightly prefer his 03 counterpart, mostly because of the voice. As I've established, Splinter from 2012 is better, I'll give it that. April and Casey on the other hand absolutely SUCK in 2012 show, I don't get why did they make them so young for no reason. They are just annoying and static, they don't develop really. April and Casey from 03 however are stellar. Their romance is built up so naturally, as a background element and the show ends with them getting married (which is easily the best episode from the last season). Even the villains are superior in 03. Let's start with Shredder who is by far the most recognizable TMNT villain. You could make an argument that 2012 Shredder is more complex, and whilst I don't necessarily disagree, I find 03 Shredder way more interesting. 2012's Shredder's whole motivation is a petty lustful vendetta and he has devoted his entire life basically attempting to murder Splinter over it. That IS interesting, but what he actually does in the show is very underwhelming. He kills Splinter like three times which completely knocks the wind out of it. Ch'rell, whilst evil for the sake of evil, is probably as good as you can get from a solely evil villain. He's a god damn space terrorist, what is there not to like? With 03 Ch'rell, he felt unstoppable whilst 2012 Shredder felt like the show avoided his inevitable demise. The only time where I thought Ch'rell's revival was uncalled for was when he survived the utrom bomb at the end of Secret Origins, but every other time, it was justified. By the time Shredder becomes a mutant in 2012 show, I just completely stopped giving a shit about him. 2k3 show killed Ch'rell at the perfect time, as they introduced new villain, not only to the show, but to the mythos, speaking of which; Bishop in 2003 is one of the best characters and easily the best aspect of Fast Forward. He starts as a shady corporate, xenophobic government agent who is immortal after aliens have experimented on him. What separates him from Ch'rell is that he genuinely believes what he's doing is just. He "protects the Earth" through his twisted definition. But after being saved by an alien after an accessible opportunity for revenge, he realizes that perhaps his world-view was out of wack. He realizes that Earth can't defend itself alone due to lack of recourses, so he solely becomes responsible for the utopian civilization where literally every type of alien is welcome. 2012 Bishop is... like a generic enemy type for Kraangs, but he's a good guy from start and... he doesn't really do a lot. Baxter is also a highlight from the show. He starts off as a narcissistic, ambitious brilliant evil scientist who gets mutilated by Ch'rell for every failure, yet he still doesn't quit the job since he's so damn prideful. When he gets rid of Shredder and is just a brain in the jar trying to do something as innocent as making a functional body and it turns out to be a disaster, it's when he completely shifts. Up until then, Baxter was an opportunist, but he becomes so fucking done with everything after that episode. FF only expands on this in which remains my favorite episode of FF, Head of State. I like that Baxter has a legitimate, confirmed good ending. Baxter in 2012 show is basically a fucking joke, and the body mutilation was already kind of a running gag in the 03 (as fucked up as that sounds), but this Baxter solely exists just to get slapped around. When he becomes the fly, his personality is as static as ever. In fact all the villains in 2012 show become static after the mutation. I thought Bradford and Xever were good inclusions TILL they mutated. I really liked their human versions, but when they mutated, their character development was at all time stop. Hun on the other hand is a good character on his own. First off, he has that personal rivalry against Casey, then when he was working for the Shredder, he had the beef with Karai since she started overtaking his position and he got so butthurt to the point where BAXTER became his buddy, a guy who literally is a brain because of him. But when he finds out that Shredder was an alien slug attempting to conquer earth, his entire view of him changes, he starts working alone, but since he's learnt some stuff from Ch'rell, he turns Purple Dragons who were originally nothing more than a typical gang, into a genuine criminal organization stealing from the government and shit. Hun in the 2012 is... just a... Bruce Lee ripoff I guess? Whatever. In my opinion, even Karai from 2012 show sucks. 03 Karai KNOWS that Shredder is a shitstain, how could you not, she constantly tries to tell him his lack of honor, but he's a piece of shit so he obviously doesn't care. She's at the tight spot since she wants to be honorable, but she can't bring herself to betray her father figure. The show balances her dynamic with helping everyone to a certain extent. She spares turtles, but still goes along with Shredder so he mostly gets what he wants. She's quite unsure what to do till turtles finally get rid of Shredder. She was brainwashed all her life and was in denial about the Shredder and when he finally gets taken care of, she goes into a similar depression state Leo went through. She took the mantle herself until a certain point where she redeemed herself when the demon moafaka came back to life. Karai from 2012 takes like 30 something episodes to be convinced that Shredder isn't the nicest fella there is, and when that happens she mutates so they spend a whole season finding and curing her. Shredder finds her first, brainwashes her with some dumbass worms so they spend another couple of episodes convincing her that the Shreddo is quite a mean fellow and then she hardly shows up again. 2012 is at it's best when it does the smaller scale episodes imo, but these long ass storylines just don't work imo, it's way too slow and unrewarding unlike 2003 which is stellar in that department, at least for the first 4 seasons. Seriously though, first four seasons of 2k3 are GODLY. Season 5 is good but I have some issues with it. Season 6 and 7 are mostly flawed and uninteresting, plus way too child-friendly, but aren't god awful I thought
Finally! The 2003 is much superior and by god there's nothing like that ever again ever since 4kids got folded. The characters were well developed and crafted into arc. And finally you talked about Mikey 2012, he just too damn childish. And yes the 2003 utrom shredder are one of best villians ever created, the mega god complex of alien terrorist/war criminal, he just the beast villian, better than 2012 shredder.
OK, I will always love the 2012 series. I love the 2003 series almost as just as much but I love the 2012 series because the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles actually act like teenagers they act more like teenagers than any other version of the TMNT and I love thatand yes, I do agree that 2003 Raphael is better and the fact that fact that the ninja Turtles actually act like teenagers, I feel like it gives master splinters moments of knowledge and teaching I feel like it gives it more weight. Which I love. And yes, I can agree that Leonardo gets annoying at times in the 2012 series and 2003 but the fact that Leonardo completely sure of himself and we see it more in the 2012 series he’s more open about it and I love that but again I do respect your opinion also 2012 Mikey is better because two words Greg Sipes also I feel like perfect mix of comedy season four being the darkest season in my personal opinion. I don’t know if the super shredder episodes the end of season three of the beginning of season four it’s one of the two.
I grew up with the 2012 series and that is what made me a turtles freak. I say the 2012 show has better background art on merchandise. I liked the 2003 series as well, because I was born in 2004. But anyways I liked both series. Doesn't matter which one is great.
I appreciate the amount of effort you put into examining these two shows.I like both shows but i might like the 2003 show a bit better, i wish the 2012 series had taken time to give mikey and splinter a one on one, heart to heart moment like with the other 3 turtles, they did have a heart to heart but never a moment were it was just the two of them in the room. 2003 mikey and splinter went on there own adventure and they beat hun, touch, and go, and because of them, they got the money to give to raph to give to mrs.morrison the blind woman (though it was raph's idea to give her the money but it was splinter and mikey that got it from hun in the first place).
I do agree with some of your opinions about both shows, but they are some other things I disagree 👎 with. I borderlined hated the 4Kids version of Leonardo, because of his character being a self-righteous, brown noised asshole, too similar to X-Men 92 Cyclops. The CGI Nicktoon version of Leo was more reliable, and got much better when Seth Green started voicing him. 2003 Raphael's voice is way too deep for a character who's supposed to be a teenager. 2003 Michaelangelo is way too annoying & smug. I prefer the 2012 Turtles design, because I like the characters having more unique looks for each character. I like 2003 April O'Neal more, because I prefer her being an adult, and also having her classic comics origins. I like 2003 Shredder's voice and civilian design, but prefer him being human and having 2012 backstory & becoming Super-Shredder.
This is such a cringe way just to say “I’m biased to 2012 and will nitpick everything about 2003 simply because other people like it”. Your hatred for 2003 Leo is just cringe and forced and pretending a show isn’t as good because you don’t like a character’s voice is also forced. Pretending as if 2012 is absolute perfection is exactly why it’s fanbase can’t handle criticism because they say things like this that make no sense
@@LegendXD00 sorry if you don't like my opinions on things, I have a right to like or dislike what I see from the entertainment I'm shown, the same as you. I tried my best to explain why I have my opinions, I don't try to insult others who have different ones than I. Why say such rude and mean things about a person you don't know? I hope you reconsider on what you said about me and about others who different opinions than you, because being hateful to people can cause unintended harm. I hope you have a good day.
@@jrr2480 You kinda just proved my point with this response because you didn’t deny any of my claims or dispute my points . You say you have a right to like or dislike, but there’s a difference between that and blindly hating a show with every nitpick and childish reason you can think of simply because other people prefer it to what you worship. You really didn’t try to explain, you just hated and nitpicked and now want to say I “insulted you” because reasons? You talk about saying rude and mean things as you went out of way to insult and dismiss all these characters simply because they’re different, now you question when it’s done to you?(according to your logic of “I insulted you”). I hope you reconsider how to actual critique a show instead of mindlessly hating it and about others who has opinions different than you as well, because projecting can also cause unintended harm too. I hope you have a good as well. Liking your own comment twice is really weird though but I digress
I don’t know why you are calling out the roll calls in 2012 and 2012 only. They’re not saying Donnie isn’t complex, him being good with machines is just the easiest way to describe him and his most defining and recognizable trait. Also, you got it wrong, it’s “Donatello is the fellow, has a way with machines.” Abd 2003 said the same thing, they said he’s the brains of the bunch. Though I admit, 2003 there is better. I just love rock music. I’m gonna have to respectfully disagree with you on Shredder. 2012 gave so much depth to him, depth the original mirage comics even lacked. I greatly hate 2004 shredder, because he’s not that interesting, doesn’t have much deity, no reason for why he’s evil, just is. 2. He lost to 4 teens and a rat multiple times despite have g thousands of years of experience. And three he’s a Utrom. That takes away what makes shredder and krang special Not trying to start an argument with you, just saying my thoughts. Also you didn’t even say why Rahzar and fishface are bad, you just said it. You should’ve at least given some reasons.
I know that it isn’t a fair comparison since Tmnt 2012 is more modern and has better quality stuff, but you gotta admit that the Tmnt 2012 opening and theme ost is an absolute banger. Like the violins just do it for me.
I feel like you kind of underestimated the 2012 Villains because the villains like the creep the dream beavers savanti Romero speed demon Lord dreeg armagon The neutralizer I feel like the 2012 show should have won that category but you called those villains god awful remakes compared to the 2003 villains
How are Bradford and Xever terrible? They were badass and had great voice acting and humor. And 03’s theme song being better than 12’s? Yeah okay buddy.
I feel like you didn't really give a chance to understand 2012 Leo, Raph and Shredder there's more to them, Leo wanted to be a Leader and he based his Leader mannerisms off of characters in shows he likes to watch which helps him come off as a Younger and more Geeky version of Leo and less as a boring one note Leader that 2003 can "ONLY IN SOME EPISODES" fall into. But we see Leo grow and BECOME The Leader In Blue, we see him mature and become a Leader of his own and by the end, he takes on Splinter's role as a Sensei to protect his family. In 2003 we see Leo going through the struggles of being a Leader but in 2012 we see Leo BECOME the Leader and also go through the struggles. And while yes in Season 1 Splinter picking him is played off for laughs, in the episode of Season 4 where Splinter dies, he tells Leo WHY he was chosen to be the Leader which feels very satisfying and rewarding for those have been watching all the way through. 2003 is great but personally I find 2012's Younger and more Insecure version of Leo to be better. I could go on with why 2012 Raph and 2012 Shredder is great but I already spoke a lot about Leo. Great video though, keep up the good work.
Fr, 2012 should've gotten more points on the characters section. 2003 Shredder is cool and threatening and all but 2012's deep and complex Shredder along with how badass and human he can be sometimes should've been a easy score for him and not 2003's one note evil interpretation of him. And 2012 Leo and Raph also should've gotten a point, or a tie with 2003 since they were so well written.
Well, despite of this being really unfair for 2012 and biased 2003, the 2003 characters were still well written, I just wish he had acknowledged that 2012 did have great writing too and in some cases even better.
I feel like this video was very unfair torwards 2012 and really biased torwards 2003 show. Most of your tmnt videos is you talking about the 2003 show so I can see the bias and favoritism coming from there and that you mostly grew up with one show, another UA-camr who did a TMNT show comparison mentioned how Nostalgia and Bias is something you gotta watch out for when making these types of videos and I feel like you might've fallen in that. This is a little noticeable in the theme song section but it's very clear in the characters section when you talk about Shredder, Leo and Raph. They are extremely well written but you make them come off as bland and one note characters which is FAR from the truth. 2003 does have great and badass characters but the writing and characters are so great in 2012, you acknowledge it a lot in 2003 but barely even touch it 2012, in the end leading to an easy score for 2003 cause you took some of the best things about 2012 for granted so 2003 gets points. Also there's a couple of things you got wrong with 2012 too regarding Mikey and Donnie. I could go on but you probably get the point by now. This was an unfair comparison and mostly biased torwards 2003, I'm not frustrated that you chose 2003 to be the winner, I'm frustrated with how it won. Despite the favoritism and bias this was still a good attempt at making a comparison video, please continue working on these types of videos and keep working hard. Cause I can see a lot of potential in them.
I mostly grew up with the 2003 version of TMNT and I always loved that series more than any of the other version. But, I did start watching the 2012 series with the whole new redesign and animation quality. It was okay for the most part and it did tone the seriousness of the 2003 version. But, my favorite is always the 2003 and then the 2012.
Ok, so here's the thing. I love TMNT 2003 as much as anyone else. And more often than not, I will agree that it is better than 2012. But in my opinion, this video does 2012 a disservice sometimes. Not only by downplaying a lot of the elements it has and not seeing how they work, but also by granting 2003 praise based off some unnecessary merits. At least, early on in the video. Later on, things start to make more sense to me. PLOT: In this segment, you mention how 2012 reuses some plot points from 2003 and how it was basically jokes with some cool fights. First of all, 2003 reuses plot points, too. And just as 2012 did, they give unique interpretations to it. For example, 2003 reused not only the Triceraton arc, a plot you said 2012 ripped from 2003, but also the fleeing New York plot after a turtle is badly injured. The 90s live action movie did it, just with Raph instead of Leo. And in all honesty, 2003 feels closer to copying the movie than 2012 did to copying 2003. While the movie and 2003 have the turtles hiding out in April's home while the one turtle goes off on his own in a fit of frustration, only to be ambushed by Foot Soldiers, 2012 has the city going to shit during a Kraang invasion during that time, meaning everyone is doing multiple things at once. And they focus even more closely on Leo's recovery and emotional state during so, where it's only briefly touched on in 2003 before he's fully healed up again. That's just one example. And on that note, that is one of the many instances in which the series shows how emotionally complex it can be, with the turtles dealing with their defeat and perceived loss of Splinter during that time. A character, btw, that 2012 seems to be the only show with the balls to kill off. This coupled with Karai's origins of being raised by a man who stole her from her true family after accidentally murdering her mother, the death of Zog after feeling used by the turtles and letting himself die rather than allow himself to be saved by them, April dealing with her father becoming a mutant in honestly a very realistic way, and so much more. A jokey show with some cool fights doesn't even BEGIN to fully describe what it really is. LEONARDO: I understand you prefer a more serious, noble leader Leo, which I do love. But one thing you seem to forget about 2012 Leo is that... he is a teenager. And acts like it. In my personal opinion, 2012 does the best job of making the turtles feel like teenagers who honestly have no business fighting these massive fights. It makes the moments where Leo is serious all the more powerful because you see him coming into his own as a leader rather than just already being one. Though I do agree that 2003 was more engaging on why he was chosen, I also believe it sorta led to a stunt in his character growth until his depression arc. I do also agree with your points about Don and Mikey being treated as inferior to Raph and Leo in 2012, that was pretty lame. But also, that point about Karai. How does her being Leo's sister give their relationship less weight? Unless you mean romantically, which yeah obviously it does, but why does it NEED to be romantically? I also don't think the voice actor change should be much of a factor. Granted, I personally didn't like the voice he had for the last chunk of season 2, but I did like Seth Green more. Especially given they provide an in-story reason for the change. And they only changed the voice actor because the original guy had some drama around him. RAPHAEL: In my personal opinion, his voice and design aren't really important factors to note. Sure, one may be more appealing to an individual, but I don't think it makes the show better or worse. I personally like both for what they offer. I do agree with the Casey dynamic, though, and to an extent the Mikey dynamic. Not so much with him saying one liners. Like I don't really care one way or another if he does or not. DONATELLO: I know it may seem dumb that this is the segment I have no problems with since it just so happens to give the point to 2012, but I firmly believe that 2012 Don is the best Don in TMNT history. And keep in mind, I do still prefer 2003 overall compared to 2012, but there are things I believe this show did better. Don is one of them. We pretty much agree completely here. MICHELANGELO: I mostly agree here, but I do think I personally would've given 2003 the point here. It mostly comes down to two things. 2003 making him occasionally annoying or 2012 making him constantly stupid. Mikey isn't really my favorite in any show, but while I don't hate either one of these two, I do personally find 2003 Mikey more enjoyable most of the time. SPLINTER: Again, I do completely agree here. 2012 Splinter is my all time favorite character in TMNT history. His design is perfect, his voice is perfect, his fighting style, his humor, his wisdom, his death, his history. Everything about him beats 2003 in mu personal opinion. Not to say 2003 was bad. His sense of humor is always unexpected and even though he is kicked down more often, he is very clearly very skilled and wise and can kick some ass. There's only two things I legit dislike about him. His voice, though I could eventually get used to it, and the whole rat origin. I never liked this origin purely because of the idea of a rat being able to mimic and comprehend the moves of a human to become a ninja master. SHREDDER: I do agree that 2003 is overall more enjoyable to watch, but a few things here. First, I don't think the burn scars are meant to make him look intimidating. They're just a scar. A wound representing how his relationship with Splinter ended. It's just a design choice meant to tell his story. I do agree 2003 is more intimidating, but I think you undersell just how well Shredder's story is told. REALLY compare it to 2003. He's a cold, calculating, charismatic leader, but at the same time, that's it. He has a public appearance and a battle appearance. The public image is pretty cool, always feeling in control and at ease even in the most savage of circumstances, but it's just the act, really. His true self is just bent on conquering the world and killing the turtles. There's no real complexity to his character in terms of personality, origin, and character development. That said, another thing I do prefer with him is his punishments. 2012 always says he'll punish his men for failure, but rarely follows through. 2003 just flat out does it. Sometimes with no warning. APRIL: While I do mostly agree here, I actually think that her behavior towards Don in the love triangle bullshit and her just happening to be a half mutant brings her down below 2003 for me. Don't get me wrong, I like that they do more different stuff with her story, I just wish it was told better and didn't kinda come out of nowhere. But I do love the amount of time spent putting her on par with the turtles and developing her powers. CASEY: Yyyyeah... I liked 2012 Casey at the time, but damn he is difficult to watch nowadays... I love Josh Peck, but his voice just does not work as Casey in my personal opinion (I realize I am making a lot of comments about voices despite saying voices shouldn't really determine if something is good or not. And I do still stand by that. But that doesn't mean I don't prefer some over others) OTHER VILLAINS (and onward): Yeah, I mostly have nothing to say here. I don't mind Bradford for his first episode and after he becomes Rahzar, but in terms of all the ones you talked about, I mostly agree with all of them. And I think the animation, music, art style, and whatnot are all just a personal preference thing that I mostly agree with. The only thing I disagree with being certain character designs. I know Leatherhead wasn't mentioned, but I do prefer his 2012 design. And I have no problems with the 2012 turtle designs. They look like teenagers and each have some variety to their body types rather than all looking the exact same. I would also like to know what you think of the villains you didn't explicitly call out. Because I do genuinely like a good chunk of them.
Bro fr, this show has the guts to do some shit you wouldn't expect from a Nickelodeon show. I can't believe he just said it was a show full of jokes and some action scenes. Also a little correction in the Donnie and Mikey being inferior statement in Season 1, while that is true throughout most of Season 1 and a bit of 2. We see Mikey and Donnie get stronger and grow as characters. We see them do things Leo and Raph can't do and even save their asses at some points. Then in Season 4, Splinter acknowledges that they are great warriors with Mikey even being a better fighter and more skilled then RAPH! I feel like most people forget to bring this up but calling Mikey and Donnie the inferior Turtles was just setting up subplot of Mikey and Donnie proving their worth. Especially Mikey.
@@matthewscorner2990 that is fair yeah. But that never really bothered me personally since it just added more to Raph's rivalry with Leo and his development. And also Donnie and especially Mikey.
In my opinion for when I compare the characters: 2003 scores for: Leonardo Raphael April Casey Usagi Leatherhead Fugitoid Baxter Stockman Triceritons Karai Hun and Bishop 2012 scores for: Michelangelo Donatello Renet Savanti Ramaro Rat King and Shredder. But both series score for: Splinter and the Utroms. I like both the 2003 and the 2012 cartoon series
I'd argue a negative of the 2012 animation is how dead NYC is, it's FREAKING NYC yet it's always dead, one of the most crazy active cities in the world has little to nothing going on in the outsides, cars, crowds and so on. I know TMNT in general isn't into the aforementioned, but in 2012 it's so distracting to how noticeable it is.
Personally I think the look of the 2012 tmnt is better. I love the character designs they remind me of the IDW turtles. And in terms of animation I love all the anime like style of 2012. I also love the 2D effects in the 3D animation of 2012.
I'm not one who heavily relies on nostalgia. It is not unfair to compare something new to its predecessor and see how it holds up. Current trends on a variety of media shows that more people are viewing older forms of entertainment. New media is failing to capture the attention of audiences as there is clearly a creativity crisis occuring. More people are even listening to music that is at least 5 years old, and also older (according to what can be found immediately from a google search, exactly how many or how old the music is, I'm not sure, but it's clear that this is a growing trend). Look at Disney and how it still is relying on its older IP's and IP's it bought nearly a decade or 2 back. Star Wars especially as so much of the latest series tends to heavily rely on the OT or aspects of it, lacking any originality that can separate it from the Era of the Empire, as flawed as the Prequel era was, you knew at least it was a different time with a distinct identity of its own. I watch The mandalorian all I see is post apocalyptic galaxy struggling to get itself together, still with the Empire (remnants of it at least) being the big bad guy. In other words, major media companies whether from the music industry, gaming industry etc, are relying on older IP's and franchises, and people are even looking back to these older forms of content. This isn't a good sign when even streaming services are churning out channels dedicated to people nostalgic for 90s content. We're in a cultural stagnation, although much of what we've known as "culture" has been artificially made by mainstream corporations. That aside, new things just aren't capable of living up to the quality of entertainment that can make them as recognizable on a massive scale like older franchises such as Indiana Jones, Star Wars, yes even TMNT. Sure you can say x series/current growing film trilogy is good, but it's more than likely going to be restricted to a certain amount of people while eventually being forgotten about by the majority of people, there are going to be thinfs about a newly released media that legitimately doesn't hold up or may cause people to dislike it. Older media had brilliant writers working on them, yet these people are old and retiring from their industries, the younger generations aren't up to the same caliber as their predecessors. The best way to describe the current situation is like every newly made film and series being a teen novel, held up as good by their own dedicated fan base yet never actually achieving a societal level of success.
i will say i liked 2012 raph alot more yeah he and micky bicker alot but to me that makes their relationship as brothers feel more realistic and in contrast to raph almost killing mikey rin 2003 raph in 2012 may get annoyed and even lose his temper as his brothers but its obvious he cares deeply for them whenever one of them gets hurt or injured he is shown to be very concerned and loving and its almost a complete 180 for his character i really like this as it makes him more relatable intresting and gives him more depth
Those moments when Raph had a great relationships with the other turtles were pretty rare until season 3. It shows that his development from the show was too slow. Ask Air could’ve gave 2012 Raph and 2012 Leo the point but the 2012’s development was astonishingly slow
@@TeamStingray_ not really there were Moments like this as far back as season 1 and 2 When raph takes over as leader for a Mikey gets injured raph is noticably very worried and panicked for his brother and even says "MIKEY DONT SCARE ME LIKE THAT" when he wakes up after being unconscious for a long time
@@sharkbyte1565 I understand you but those are still rare moments. Raph usually bullies the turtles and Mikey more. Which is funny at first and gets old after multiple times. He does encourage the turtles like when he learns his lessons of anger, bullying, etc. After that, he continues to bully them like he never learned anything until season 3 when he actually cares and encourages the turtles better without anyone telling him or Splinter.
I strongly disagree. You make a lot of good points. With the plot I can't disagree. I haven't past season 2, but those plots do sound amazing. One thing you didn't mention which I feel was really important when it comes to Leo is the bond the four brothers have. In the 2003 show the brothers feel like coworkers instead of brothers. In 2012 it was like a constant avengers trying to pull up mjnior scene where we feel how the character's feel about each other from their banter. Their banter could kept me engaged and made the turtles feel just so real and relatable, were as most of the turtles talking in the 2003 series was boring, and the turtles felt a lot more two dimensional. I could never engage with 2012 Leo because he was always the leader and I felt that we never got to see other parts of his personality or that often. 2012 Leo is a teenage boy who admires the cartoon hero he grew up with and tries to be like him, a kid thrust into responsibility, a loving warrior and a bad ass. 2012 Leo feels like an actual real life person just like most of the character's in 2012. Also I disagree that Leo and Karai being siblings makes their feel less meaningful. Yes, them being romantic is weird but as friends or siblings I think their amazing. Which ones better comes down to personal preference but leaving a lot of this stuff out is a disservice to 2012 Leo in my opinion. I also disagree on Raph and Shredder but I think it's mostly just personal preference and not much for me to complain about. I do however agree with what you said about Casey. While i actually like 2012 Casey, 2003 Casey beats him by far for the reasons you've listed. I disagree with the villain thing too, as 2012 had some great villian aside from the main ones, Tiger Claw, zever, Bradford, Bebop, Rocksteady, Lord Dredd, The Rat king, Armaggon, Kavaxas, the newtralizer and the triceritons. I don't disagree with anything on the theme songs except that it should be given that much stuff on it. while a theme song serves a very important purpose it in my opinion isn't as important as character or plot and think there should've been a better tone, or finale's or i don't know something else instead. I agree with the 2d vs 3d thing as I can see your point about it being a lot more creative. I do prefer the 2012 look but your point also feels fair. I like the designs for the turtles equally as they are two different things one is a bunch of tough strong heroes who can be intimidating. whereas the 2012 show never tries to make them intimidating instead a bunch of teenage ninja's. though what wins me over on design for the 2012 is of the other mutants they make nearly every mutant look seriously messed up which they should since their mutants. it just works for me.
You see, the TMNT 2012 turtles are more as teens and have hobbies is what your saying. 2003 show has the same thing but 2012 did it more. They took 2003 Leo more seriously and in a different path, Leo changed and got developed perfectly and had a great bond with his brother because he battled depression and PTSD because he thought he had failed as a leader. They did TMNT 2003 Leo more as a character than TMNT 2012 Leo. TMNT 2012 took this to another way, which I like. Let’s not forget TMNT 2012 used TMNT 2003 stuff. Also Leo and Karai’s relationship as friends and siblings was kinda less meaningful because they liked each other. 2012 Raph mostly treats his brothers as bullies instead of brothers. 2012 Shredder wanting to kill splinter and the turtles was his only plan in the whole series, was kinda lame Bro, Dogpound/Rahzar, Stockman/Stockfly and fishface were terrible. He didn’t mention Bebop and rocksteady and triceratons because they were great. So was Dregg, Rat King, Kavaxas and the newtralizer a little and not Armaggon because he appeared in the show for 3 or 4 episodes. It was terrible that they killed them off that early.
@@TeamStingray_ wouldn't say they did more 2003 Leo, they just did something different. Also he likely didn't mention the other Villains because they weren't as significant.
I dissagree with some of your takes(especially shredder) but overall good video And thank you for being one of the people who think that april and donatello are better done in 2012 than 2003 Btw is this video based on objectivity or subjectivity?
2012 Donnie is well uh….something, But he’s not better than the 2003 Donnie. They turned him from the calm intelligent peacemaker to the introverted weak geek with a gap
@@paulgilbert5278 2012 donatello is better than 2003 donatello Donatello has lillte to none development in the 2003 series Where as 2012 gave donatello plenty of development The 2012 donatello has actually flaws which made him more relatable
if i compare theses show by my own opinion 2003 wins but if compare it with facts 2012 wins btw 2012 leo in the first 2 seaons yeah he is not good as the 2003 but in season 3 where he got injured made him better as leader and in season 4 and 5 where splinter died made him better you can see how hard he is trying to take care of his borthers and make sure nothing bads happen to them
I prefer the 2012 show entirely because it was the first show that i could tell the turtles apart outside of their mask color and voices. No seriously, that's it.
I grew up playing the 2003 TMNT game for the GameCube but unfortunately I’ve never seen the show (I grew up with the 2012 version) and I like both versions a lot
Characters I kinda like 2012 Leo more, he feels closer to his brothers to me Raphael goes to 2003 I find his character better Donnie goes to I can’t choose I like both equally Mikey goes to 2003 it’s what made him my favorite turtle The splinters are even to me Shred head 03 is scarier and is just cooler April 2003 I never liked 2012s version that much Casey 03 would beat down 2012 and does character wise The Krang 2012 Karai uh even I guess I kinda dislike both Stockman 03 his story amazing Bishop 03, 2012 was prettt boring I personally like 03s theme song better I actually like the 2012 designs better
Dude no actual thought was put into this video like Jaxblade's video, he just wanted to make a video shitting on 2012 and saying why 2003 is the masterpiece that it is. This video is full of favoritism and bias.
To me it's not about nostalgia or which one you grow up with. I personally my first tmnt cartoon was the 2007 3D animation, which is awesome. But 2012 tmnt was my growing up with. Letter this year I watched the 2003 tmnt and men I was slapped. See both shows are really awesome, but let's be really honest. 2012 tmnt is the best adaptation of tmnt. From the story the art, creative decisions, character development. Not to mention the villains and the fact that they went from New York to different tone and boy the team song is just rad. If you would compare seriously it's 2012.
Personally I prefer the 2012 Turtles over the 2003 Turtles. I feel like the 2003 Turtles take themselves way too goddamn seriously to a point where it is honestly just distracting. The designs and personalities of the 2003 Turtles don't really feel like teenagers to me they feel like adults whereas the 2012 Turtles they're smaller and they all act like teenagers you have little things like them playing games with each other during training playing video games and watching cartoons together and they actually feel like brothers in the 2012 series. The 2003 series to me they never really felt like brothers they felt like four assholes that were just on a team together. Also personally I feel like Michelangelo and Donatello being the weaker Turtles actually make sense for their characters Michelangelo rarely takes anything seriously and Donatello focuses more on his gadgets and Technology whereas Leo and wrath are Rivals physically that keep pushing each other to do better in their training also I like the fact that the 2012 series actually has them speaking Japanese which is kind of important considering splinter is Japanese and so are ninja
You clearly never watched like a season of TMNT 2003. Mikey beated Raph in the battle nexus and became the Battle Nexus champion. The reason why ASK didn’t talk about what you said because TMNT 2003 and 2012 did the same way, but 2012 did a little more
In the 2003 series all four turtles have their strengths and weaknesses but with all four of them together, they are evenly matched. Mikey has raw talent, was the battle nexus champion, and his skills were as stronger than Leo and Raph's. Raph has power and Leo is has grace but their skillsets make them evenly match. Donnie is the weakest for fighting but makes up for his knowledge of science and math and using it to his advantage. The 2003 turtles act like college aged young adults and not teenagers. In the 2012 series, the turtles act like the 14-15 year olds they are and all four turtles levels of fighting is way drastically different. Even through Raph and Leo are still in the same playing field together for fighting, they act like the older brothers and Donnie and Mikey who are also in the same playing field for fighting are weaker and they act like the little brothers they are.
im 2003. the reason is first the animation ive watch all 2012 but the character designs is so bad in my opinion I could not stop think about in all the seasons ive just got that im 10 years old vibe from them and not on a good way like ben 10. stories are really weak to in 2012 and I always felt like after season I saw the same thing again and again special with the fight scenes. I just say that 2012 tmnt not are for me, normally I don’t feel like shows like tmnt are for kids too but 2012 did it really obvious and Mickey is my favorite character and his just annoying all the time I now hes the youngest but his more like a 3 year old all the time. I know it’s sounds like hate but I really dislike 2012 nut im glad other people can enjoy it :)
i grew up with both shows and have always loved them dearly, but i gotta say, in my opinion the 2003 show was better in terms of storytelling, characters and just the way they handled the show in general. 2012 felt a bit confusing in the last 2 seasons, and while fast forward and btts werent as good as the first 5 seasons of 2003, they were still okay and and watchable and were not too confusing. i didn't like how they dumbed mikey down in 2012, even though i love that mikey a lot and he did have a few epic moments, and i didnt like how the rest of them constantly belittled him, made fun of him and were occasionally really aggressive towards him (mainly raph) for no reason. sure, there were a lot of moments like that in 2003 as well, but it was mostly when mikey annoyed and teased them on purpose, therefore pretty much deserved. i also dont like how they made donnie's personality mostly revolve around april and how creepy and stalkerish they made him, kinda like marinette from miraculous ladybug. the guy literally ditched his brothers on a mission when april called him (and earlier in the same episode she hated him and didnt want anything to do with him or his brothers, but as soon as shes in danger she remembers the turtles). speaking of april, i also dont like how they handled her... like how the hell did she become a full fledged kunoichi in like. 2 seasons when it took the turtles themselves 15 years???? and her psychic abilities are also very weird, how did she learn to master them in less than a season??? and the whole situation with leo and karai felt super awkward. not to mention the plot holes and unfinished stories, like the one with timothy aka mutagen man for example.... anyways, as much as i love 2012 (and i love it ALOT), it had alot more flaws than the 2003 version in my opinion, which is why i think the 2003 series was better.
I liked them both, but the '03 show is the one I totally went for. That one is what I had as a kid, and I was grateful to have a new show when I was in high school. Honestly the '03 show had way better toys. Mainly action figures. That was a good time in my life. A lot was going on then. I was a hulk fan as a kid as well as Spiderman. Both were big at the time so this was a historical time for me.

The fact we never got A official crossover between these two is A real tragic.
Their to obsessed with the 80s
Didn’t they have a crossover with the 1980s teenage mustang ninja turtles?
@@zjm5835 Yes, but I was talking about the 2012 and 2003 series crossover.
@@savagedarksider5934 I know. It’s a shame that didn’t happen. It’s like No Way home without Andrew Garfield’s Spider-Man.
I would love to see 2012,2003,Rise, and 80’s have a freaking awesome movie that would be so cool
TMNT 2012 was the one I watched first too, But in 2018 I watched 2003 and well…
2003 is peak of Tmnt franchise, first 4 seasons of this show is must watch for every tmnt fan, it's just unbeatable, 2012 is pretty good but in compression 2003 is so much better in everything.

What did you think of the wedding episode in Back to the Sewers and how would you feel if that episode had a 2-parter ?
@@comicbookking3446 The wedding episode was honestly fine. I just wish Back To The Sweets season was handled better.
This is just my opinion.if you like the 03 show that's cool but for me 2012 takes the cake all the way...Besides 2012 Casey
well i grew up with the 80s version and even though i love it i don't let nostalgia blind me from 2003's cool factor

Leonardo in the first seasons of 2012 was good until they brought Seth green in.
Leo 2003 clears, his arc is way better, especially in season 4
eh. haven't seen much 2012 and i grew up watching 2003 on youtube but the way i see it is they're not supposed to act like normal teens. they spent their childhood in isolation, being trained for combat.

Nostalgia
2003 TMN was my childhood show and i still love it
My First Ever ninja Turtles Show was The 2003 one but I like the 2012 version better
I admittedly gave a bit more leeway to 2012 but I explained my reasoning in the video, it was ultimately really close
Mikey in the 2012 show is also a capable fighter. In one episode splinter reveals mikey has some ultra instinct type thing

i am not a huge fan of April 2012, to me they boost her way too much to the point that i think that she became way to powerful for the turtles. which made a lot of scenes that she was in after the 4th season feel pointless at least in my opinion.
and The 2012 Cassy is the worst by far April and Donnie would be much better without him cuz he created the stupid love triangle.
however 2012 Donnie besides the Love triangle was very charming.
and 2012 Mikey was Adorable.
however i still think 2003 is better even if Karai was maybe annoying in there but i still think it did a lot of things better then 2012 that being said 2012 version is still a great show.

Happy 20th Anniversary to 2003 incarnation!
Oh, and I'm on 2003 side of the argument.
I like the 2012 TMNT show because the turtle brothers in that show felt and acted like actual teenagers.
I feel like they made Mikey more stupider in the 2012 compared to the 2003 series. Also having the krang as an alley instead an enemy is kinda cool.

Ironic how he says 2012 shredder looks like a alien while 2003 shredder is literally an alien.
i grew up with 2003 one so i guess that’s the one for me and also i always loved how dark it was for some parts. And also always loved that 2003 art style.
also when i was a child i used to watch 1987 one too and i like that one very much. Basically the reason why i love 2003 more than 2012 is cuz i was never able to watch 2012 as kid even tho i was born in 2006…
but the main reason is that when i was born you could watch 2003 every episode for free at youtube and also u could see most of the 1987 ones from youtube so that’s why i like them more probably cuz i watched them as a kid. Now what comes to 2012 one I also watched it as a kid but only from tv and it came so early in the morning i wasn’t even up most of the time it came out. And It also was aired on nickelodeon and we never had that channel cuz in my country u had to pay to see some channels. SO BASICALLY TO SUM IT UP i may be blinded by the nostalgia when i say this but for me 2003 one is the goat then comes the original 1987 one and then 2012 gets the third place for me
Which show do you think is better? Let me know!

I prefer the 03 show for variety of reasons:
Characters:
I'd say, aside from Splinter, every character from 03 show is superior.

I don’t know why you are calling out the roll calls in 2012 and 2012 only. How come they don’t have the tmnt 2003 series on vudu?
This is actually good video, i didn't have chance to watch 2003 only 2012 in nickelodeon, but i can agree that 2003 is better in my opinion to
Yeah
How is 2003 better if you haven’t even watched it? Lol
Maybe he heard about the show’s reception
@@hierovigilante6805 I mean i didn't have chance to watch it on tv
I watched online...
Imo these are the 2 greatest tmnt series. I grew up watching the 2012 version, and I watched the 2003 version and it was just as great as this one
Your analysis is pretty on point. But personally, I love both series because they’re great in their own ways and as different tmnt series.
I think TMNT 2012 was better in my opinion
Because I grew up with them and I didn't watch much of 2003 TMNT
Good reasoning. But I still believe 2003's arcs were better told than the decent development given in 2012. Thanks for watching!
@@AskAir right.
@@AskAir would say more than decent but fair
I can’t believe I’m saying, this but I would like you to do a 2012 series retrospective and how it went downhill in your eyes.
Fr, this video should've been longer so he could've talked about both shows more, maybe it would've been more fair that way.
I'm waiting for him to respond to this......
2003 is superior get over it
@@mangazo15 The problem isn't that 2003 won, the problem is how the video wasn't fair torwards 2012 and made some wrong statements about the show.
@@ilikeeverything.5900 ingore him
I mostly grew up with the 2003 version of TMNT and I always loved that series more than any of the other version.
PLOT:
In this segment, you mention how 2012 reuses some plot points from 2003 and how it was basically jokes with some cool fights.
LEONARDO:
I understand you prefer a more serious, noble leader Leo, which I do love.
RAPHAEL:
In my personal opinion, his voice and design aren't really important factors to note.
DONATELLO:
I know it may seem dumb that this is the segment I have no problems with since it just so happens to give the point to 2012, but I firmly believe that 2012 Don is the best Don in TMNT history. And keep in mind, I do still prefer 2003 overall compared to 2012, but there are things I believe this show did better. Don is one of them. We pretty much agree completely here.
MICHELANGELO:
I mostly agree here, but I do think I personally would've given 2003 the point here. It mostly comes down to two things. 2003 making him occasionally annoying or 2012 making him constantly stupid. Mikey isn't really my favorite in any show, but while I don't hate either one of these two, I do personally find 2003 Mikey more enjoyable most of the time.
SPLINTER:
Again, I do completely agree here.
SHREDDER:
I do agree that 2003 is overall more enjoyable to watch, but a few things here.
APRIL:
While I do mostly agree here, I actually think that her behavior towards Don in the love triangle bullshit and her just happening to be a half mutant brings her down below 2003 for me. Don't get me wrong, I like that they do more different stuff with her story, I just wish it was told better and didn't kinda come out of nowhere. But I do love the amount of time spent putting her on par with the turtles and developing her powers.
CASEY:
Yyyyeah... But that doesn't mean I don't prefer some over others)
OTHER VILLAINS (and onward):
Yeah, I mostly have nothing to say here.
@@ilikeeverything.5900 Which is very fair, but it does seem very much like the show just likes to make them look less capable throughout the show.
@@matthewscorner2990 that is fair yeah. But that never really bothered me personally since it just added more to Raph's rivalry with Leo and his development. And also Donnie and especially Mikey.

The way I see it every Turtles series has their strengths and weaknesses. And they're all good in they're own way.

In my opinion some of these are Wrong 2003 didn’t have most of the villians but 2012 did 2012 mostly had all of the villians

yeah he and micky bicker alot but to me that makes their relationship as brothers feel more realistic and in contrast to raph almost killing mikey rin 2003 raph in 2012 may get annoyed and even lose his temper as his brothers but its obvious he cares deeply for them whenever one of them gets hurt or injured he is shown to be very concerned and loving and its almost a complete 180 for his character i really like this as it makes him more relatable intresting and gives him more depth
I completely agree
Those moments when Raph had a great relationships with the other turtles were pretty rare until season 3. It shows that his development from the show was too slow. Ask Air could’ve gave 2012 Raph and 2012 Leo the point but the 2012’s development was astonishingly slow
@@TeamStingray_ not really there were Moments like this as far back as season 1 and 2

2003 even tho 2012 is close
I grew up with the 2012 TMNT but I find the 2003 series more hardcore and badass!
2012 Shredder wanting to kill splinter and the turtles was his only plan in the whole series, was kinda lame
Bro, Dogpound/Rahzar, Stockman/Stockfly and fishface were terrible. He didn’t mention Bebop and rocksteady and triceratons because they were great. So was Dregg, Rat King, Kavaxas and the newtralizer a little and not Armaggon because he appeared in the show for 3 or 4 episodes. It was terrible that they killed them off that early.
He’s kinda right, 2003 arcs were much better than 2012’s decent development
@@TeamStingray_ wouldn't say they did more 2003 Leo, they just did something different. Also he likely didn't mention the other Villains because they weren't as significant.

If you would compare seriously it's 2012.

The tmnt 2003 series was the best.

I love your video man keep up the good work
im 2003. the reason is first the animation ive watch all 2012 but the character designs is so bad in my opinion I could not stop think about in all the seasons ive just got that im 10 years old vibe from them and not on a good way like ben 10. stories are really weak to in 2012 and I always felt like after season I saw the same thing again and again special with the fight scenes.
April was baxters assistant in the comics too it is weird that she was a reporter in the 87 cartoon
She did had a orange jump suit with channel 6 news like 1987 April but it was a disguise
i grew up with both shows and have always loved them dearly, but i gotta say, in my opinion the 2003 show was better in terms of storytelling, characters and just the way they handled the show in general.
Cause dude 20012 are teenagers like what said in the name not like 2003 design and characters they act more like young adult or adults than teenages
@@nothingherezero7182 yeah when I first started watching 2003 I thought they were like 20 something.
I really love both series as I grew up with both but honestly I prefer the 2003 one which is the best in my opinion
Why tf did you even make this video you should’ve just titled it “I hate tmnt 2012”
We got a hater 😢
I liked them both, but the '03 show is the one I totally went for. That one is what I had as a kid, and I was grateful to have a new show when I was in high school. Honestly the '03 show had way better toys. Mainly action figures. That was a good time in my life. A lot was going on then. I was a hulk fan as a kid as well as Spiderman. Both were big at the time so this was a historical time for me.
