I love the silhouette of this coat! The way it FALLS. I hope you love it and enjoy it! Anyone complaining about your gorgeous green coat is clearly confused. They clearly meant that it’s FABULOUS
Angela, I just realized, while watching this, that competence like yours is why women transitioned easily to being aircraft mechanics in WW2. Geeze-louise, those pattern instructions!!! Reads like Greek to me! It's what I find most amazing about your channel - the superior technicality of the craft + your sweet frilly unicorn-pompom-tinsel-porcelain laden sewing room. Plus a dog! And vintage design! What a bonus package it all is. ❤️
Luckily Posey has a mama that can easily modify her clothes to make her more comfortable, wishing her a quick recovery. The coat turned out beautiful! Love seeing your work 👗
1.Posie is an excellent assistant! She's very determined to be on top of your work! (literally!) She is also so cute that I wanna cry. 2. I love the sleeves (whatever there are) and the button spacing on the front is really cool! 3. I LOVE LOVE LOVED the green coat. I sat and would just look at it. I am obsessed. I really love how you don't shy away from bold colors. 4. Kermit is a beauty icon. I don't see how people can think pulling off green is a bad thing.
Even though I could literally be your mother, I have learned soooo much from your videos and greatly enjoy your sewing adventures. FYI you should watch and or contact Alex Archbold from Curiosity inc. He is currently going thru a hoarder house that has boxes and boxes of sewing notions, button, patterns etc; and piles and piles of fabric. I don’t know if you’d be interested in making an offer to take some of that off his hands. Anyway, I hope you enjoy your holidays and keep on sewing.
Ha! I could be her mother too... and I was also going to suggest she gets in touch with Alex Archbold about the sewing items!! I hope she does. I think the video with some of the patterns and buttons and whatnot was this one: ua-cam.com/video/5SZ0WEuRpw4/v-deo.html
I could be her young mother too and I am impressed with her knowledge and ability. She's really inspiring. I probably would have given up on those sleeves.
Angela, I have followed you for couple years and seen so much growth and admire your accomplishments thus far. It is feel good refreshing to watch how you tackle a difficult garment composition. I am an old lady and have sewed over 50 years. I also studied fashion design at Univ Calif Davis and seen and studied with varying levels of students at upper division graduate level, and you kick their butt! I look forward to watching your process and future accomplishments. You will be successful in anything you choose to do,.
This is beautiful & I loved the last green coat! You are very talented. I am in Scotland & this plaid is a copy of ‘The Black Watch’ tartan. It is famous & recognised easily as very dark. The Black Watch is a Royal Battalion. It was & is worn by the infantry who ‘Watch’ the Highlands. Big hugs from 🏴 💕
Thanks for the additional information! I recently looked to see if there was a tartan for my maternal family and was surprised to find there was! It apparently is a sub clan, but I’m hoping some day I can afford to purchase enough for a coat or skirt as a nod to my heritage.
@@merindymorgenson3184 that’s nice. Yes Tartan is expensive but well worth saving for. It is very confusing as most clans have more than one design as others added over the years. Good luck & happy sewing 🏴
Just wanted to drop you a line that I really, really love your 20's coat!! I don't think you looked like Kermit, I thought you looked like the protagonist of some historical urban fantasy 😅
My dog Candy once had to have a drain -- she didn't like it either, but she LOVED getting to wear a t-shirt (to keep from picking at it). The t-shirts made her feel POWERFUL around the other dogs. I like this coat much more in person than on the pattern picture. LOVE COATMAS! Long live the Coatdrobe!!! Stay well!
I fudging loved the toki doki unicorn video! The green coat was FABULOUS! This coat is lovely (especially with that adorbs hat!) and I eagerly await the next! Congratulations Posey on getting through her surgery and I hope she makes a full and glorious recovery!
The coat is gorgeous. I love those sleeves, but I must admit that I have a big crease in my forehead from trying to understand how they work! Coatmas is just so much fun! Thanks for the video and I'm so glad your dog is doing well! Merry Christmas, Angela!
Holy heck - that pattern and those instructions... I did not understand anything so am even more impressed by the end result! Also, sending all my best to little Posie
I'm not sure if that sleeve pattern is magical out abysmal... The end result is super cool, but the process seems like torture. I'm glad Posie's surgery went well and she has such a good dog mom to take care of her! I really hope she'll recover soon and gets well. My pup has had 3 surgeries despite not even being 2,5 years old, and even though none of it was life threatening, I know how scary it was. My heart goes out to you.
So glad the floof has had her surgery already - I hope she feels better soon. The coat is gorgeous, and I adore the fabric you chose! Well done solving the puzzle of those sleeves. I enjoy your invention of the word 'coatdrobe', though I suspect 'wardcoat' makes more sense. Amount of fun experienced saying a word counts for a lot when it's not an official word anyway, so coatdrobe away!
Oh my the pattern for those sleeves was SCARY! But I really love how the coat came out! The shape of the sleeves is so interesting, and I also think it looks very flattering on you. I look forward to seeing the video on the matching ensamble you had planned for this, I really liked the fabric combination you had chosen for it. Wishing Posey a quick recovery! Happy holidays!
Awww, you're a good dog mom. I am watching your video while making a new warm coat for my dog out of an old child's coat. So much cheaper than buying a new one that's a piece of junk that doesn't fit right. He had major hip surgery last April and I slept on the floor next to his crate for almost 2 weeks. I have a mini futon, and I was actually very comfy. I hope she feels much better soon!
Can commiserate with dog friend woes. It's so emotionally difficult sometimes. But must say if it's worth anything, your dog friends are fortunate to have had you as their caretakers- that look of love seems to say everything.
The final coat is delightful! I actually really want to hunt down that pattern (or one with similar sleeves). I'm glad to hear that Posey had surgery and is doing well. Thanks for talking about her surgery suit and the modifications you made - useful info for those of us with impatient pets.
Such a pretty coat! I feel you about the tiredness due to furbaby surgery. We had to have a large tumour removed from the chest of our boxer/pointer cross several months about a year ago and she had a drainage tube as well. She was basically bisected from her collarbone to the middle of her rib cage to remove the mass. All ended up well but while she healed there was much sleeping on the floor with her in the living room cuddle time, to try and keep her from fussing over it...and off the stairs and furniture until she was no longer draining. LOL
Wishing Posey a rapid, complete, and easy recovery! I loved the green coat, but I adore this one! That fabric is right up my alley. Merry Christmas to you and yours!
I loved the 20s coat and I love this one even more! (I mean I support the use of Blackwatch tartan and similar at all times.) The work and detail you put into it is really beautiful and I enjoyed hearing about the things you learned in your previous Coatmas.
As someone who was diagnosed with breast cancer literally weeks after the lockdowns started, and is now sitting here 8 months later watching this while recovering from a double mastectomy that included armpit lymph node removal, I have to say that I have never related so hard to a dog in all my life. Especially the part about constantly and annoyingly futzing around with the drains. Same, doggo. Same. I hope Posey is feeling much better!
THANK YOU SO MUCH, I'm making a 30s blouse with these exact kinds of buttonholes and I was so confused!! And the pattern never called them "bound buttons" so I didn't know what to google either, I'm so glad I watched this! I also love how this turned out! I love swing coats, and had no idea they were around back in the 30s! I'm fairly new to sewing so I haven't made a coat yet but there are so many I want to make and these videos are so inspiring!
I really, really love this coat!! The sleeves looked difficult and fiddly as all get out but they turned out so nice!! I would totally wear it...like EVERYDAY!! ❤️❤️ P.S. I for one have been so inspired by you that I have just acquired, not one, but TWO sewing machines and am determined that I am going to begin sewing. Starting small and simple at first and hopefully, with practice to be just half the seamstress that you are!! I admire the way you handle the ups and downs of projects gone a bit, or a lot, wrong. I have watched both your coats and I loved them both. I wasn’t sure if I was going to like the green coat, but I ended up loving it. Keep up the good work!
If that green coat made you look like Kermit the Frog (which it did NOT), then Kermit never looked better 💚 That coat looked great and I loved the colors you used. So, don't let the salty people get you down, Angela.
That fabric looks really familiar... *Looks closer* yep I just made a circle skirt out of the same stuff. I'm excited to see how it turns out as a coat.
Fantastic coat, 'translated' from the pattern instructions beautifully, even though they seemed to be written in the secret language of the Elves. So very pleased that your dog is on the road to better health. Wishing you a very merry Christmas and a happy new year.
I am in awe of your ability to interpret and follow those instructions for the sleeves! It looks like someone designed that sleeve while they were high or drunk. Of course, they were obviously more functional sewists when high or drunk than I am when sober, but wow! I would have never been able to figure all that out. Extra kudos to you! Also, I don’t know if there’s interest from anyone else, but I’d love to hear more about linings. I’m hopefully going to be making a coat from some wool that I purchased, though I think it’s a bit thinner than I was planning on. So, anyway, I have some silk that I got very inexpensively that I’d like to line my coat with, but it’s so incredibly slippery, I’m not sure how it will work. I’m not very familiar with silk, but as near as I can tell it’s a habotai weight. Anyway, it was less than $2 per yard, so it doesn’t really matter, it’s going to be the lining. I also got some mystery lining type material from a thrift store, and I’d like more clues about how to identify that. So, a video about linings of various different types of garments would be very interesting to me. Oh, and at the end you were talking about using flannel or something cozy to line it. If you did that, would you still line the coat over that with something more slippery so it goes on and off more easily?
It is always so interesting to see you follow vintage patterns and figure out confusing things! Also paying extra attetion this coatmas as I have some coatplans, but haven't started yet. I am learning a lot (and want to ask a hundred things more).
I agree about those sleeves! How complicated! I can only imagine how they designed those pattern pieces.Your patience with those, and all those welted button holes is AMAZING. Well-done on this whole project! - - I don't know if this is still available, but "flannel-backed satin" is a GREAT fabric for coat linings! It has good body, drapes nicely, and is quite warm.
to make even neater bound button holes, you do the exact same thing to the facing as you did to the front, only you do this in lining fabric and iron it completely flat, so you gave a rectangular hole in the facing. And then you hand stitch the rectangular hole in the facing to the bound button hole of the front fabric. is that makes sense. haha
I'm glad to hear your doggo is doing well! She looks like a happy girl. Those sleeves are both bonkers and brilliant. I hope to come across a similar pattern someday so I can try them out.
this coat is amazing, i saw it on instagram and was like can i please have something like this haha! it also makes me really happy that posie gets so much love and attention and i think you're doing such a great job taking care of your sweet special needs dog. hope you have a good holiday and that posie recovers flawlessly!
I have no idea how you work these patterns out...you are a genius! I didn’t receive a notification for your unicorn shelf video...I’ll look for it. LOVE the coat!
I know I don't comment very often, but I really enjoy your videos. I love the technical view point you take and the explanations you give when you follow patterns. And I love the colors you choose. I look forward to your next videos. I just want to say that I sincerely hope that everything goes smoothly for your puppy and that she recovers rapidly so that she can live a long, healthy life with you!
Love the 1930s fashion! If anyone can pull this off, it is you! I have been wanting to recreate the coat Naomi Watts wore in King Kong movie (brown wool) buttons halfway down the sleeves
The coats are beautiful!! I find it sad that anyone who criticize anything you have made. They are well made and you have learned a lot over the years you have been sewing. The unprinted patterns look tricky to work with and show how much base knowledge there was. Hope posey has a good and speedy recovery!!
Loooove this. I just moved to new england and bought this same flannel to make dresses amd coats with to fill our coat closet ! This video has sooo many good tips
I watched your tokodoki video. I have one of the plush keychains. I hope to order some in the new year. I love both coats you have made. Sending prayers to your doggie.
Thanks to you Angela, now I'm on the waiting list for sewing school since you inspired me so much on that path during my really long sick leave (anxiety and depression). Wishing you a happy holidays 🎄✨
Me: Hmm, interesting pattern piece, is that the back?
Angela: "... the sleeves.."
Me: SLEEVES!?

COATMAS the best time of year. Day wear coats are not really a thing in my subtropical country (NZ). So I'm living vicariously through you.

Also, I love the coat!
Stunning sleeves!!! The buttons are adorable!
Great job!! Glad to hear your puppy is doing well!!🤗
Can I just say your hair is goals!
Black Watch tartan is my favourite! Not many people use it when doing tartan. It turned out so brilliantly!
With Posey on the issue of surgical drains. They are the WORST. Hang in there pups! 💖💖💖
this coat is amazing, i saw it on instagram and was like can i please have something like this haha! it also makes me really happy that posie gets so much love and attention and i think you're doing such a great job taking care of your sweet special needs dog. hope you have a good holiday and that posie recovers flawlessly!
I have no idea how you work these patterns out...you are a genius! I didn’t receive a notification for your unicorn shelf video...I’ll look for it. LOVE the coat!
Beautiful coat! Amazing work that sleeve pattern looked so complicated... hope your new puppy recovers soon... so cute 🥰
What a beautiful coat! Well done with missing pieces and difficult instructions! Hope your dog gets well soon and have a merry Christmas ❤️
Those sleeves!!! Oh my goodness, I would be so intimidated by those, and I've been sewing for years and years! Well done 😊
Love the 1930s fashion! If anyone can pull this off, it is you! I have been wanting to recreate the coat Naomi Watts wore in King Kong movie (brown wool) buttons halfway down the sleeves
The bright color wool was lovely! I just binged The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel and have renewed my love for beautiful bright statement coats.
The coats are beautiful!! I find it sad that anyone who criticize anything you have made. They are well made and you have learned a lot over the years you have been sewing. The unprinted patterns look tricky to work with and show how much base knowledge there was.
Hope posey has a good and speedy recovery!!
i love the green coat, and i love this coat! i usually don't like swing coats, but the ones you make have me sold! they're adorable on you!
Loooove this. I just moved to new england and bought this same flannel to make dresses amd coats with to fill our coat closet ! This video has sooo many good tips
I love coatmas, and this swing coat is gorgeous!
I watched your tokodoki video. I have one of the plush keychains. I hope to order some in the new year. I love both coats you have made. Sending prayers to your doggie.

Hi! It's really nice how you're keeping to the green color theme! Love the coat, i couldn't understand most of the instructions 😳
The green coat is gorgeous and very flattering on you, don't listen to the haters!
Thanks to you Angela, now I'm on the waiting list for sewing school since you inspired me so much on that path during my really long sick leave (anxiety and depression). Wishing you a happy holidays 🎄✨
