1:19:25 if a new head gasket is all you need it cost 90 dollars for the part. A gear head can do it for free. It's only a 1hr job. During covid I fixed 7 cars for free they were people from my apt complex. Because my neighbors could not afford another car . I cared about my neighbors specially during uncertain time.
That's a repair most shops gouge folks for. You're a huge blessing to your neighbors, I hope they appreciate what a rock 🌟 you are! 🎉

My husband is self employed as a paint contractor. He mostly works for homeowners. So they pay him with money they have already paid income tax on, then he pays again. 🤔

Here in New Zealand years ago the Tip Top bread factory burnt down. They had the manager in a radio interview. He said "whatever happens in life, God is trying to tell you something" the radio host asked "What is God telling you to do now?". The bread factory manager said "God is telling us its time to build a new place". I am not religious but I did enjoy that interview.

We had an old dodge caravan we named "Zombie Molly" - my dad got it from someone who was going to junk it for the 3-400 bucks the junkyard was going to give him. That car was THE BEST, 200k+ miles 20 year old van, dented from run-ins with deer and accidents from before we got it, hubby took it out on newspaper runs every night. Always started up, got us where we needed to go, was just what we needed until we replaced it with a Honda. I still miss that car, lol. Dad also had a vehicle he called 'The Dent" - something had happened to it as a fairly new car, the owner was going to junk it and let the neighborhood kids at it with baseball bats. I don't think there was an inch of car that wasn't dented, lol. Dad bought it and drove it for years because he didn't care - it ran, served it's purpose. Bonus - when you drive cars like this, people stay out of your way for fear of an accident with you! LOL
I've got an old Explorer that I paid cash for. It is at 206,000 miles and starting to rust. I have put about $1000 into it each year over the past 3 years, but that is so much less than people pay over 3 yearsfor the average car payment. I plan to drive it a lot longer. Before that I had a Caravan with 230,000 on it that I sold for $800 to a drywall contractor who is still driving it.
My parents were hard up and someone they knew sold them a junker for $50. It was an old metal tank, and that thing ran. We called it the “$50 Miracle.” 😂
It’s also nice driving cars like that because you care less when dumb things happen. (And they will happen) We have a nice family vehicle and every time I find a new ding or scratch, I instantly get frustrated. With my older cars, I just look at it and say, hmm I wonder where that happened.
@@wadelevan1787 exactly. Cars are so expensive and too many things can happen to them. Not worth the worry of trying to keep the pristine. Nothing beats a good reliable motor!
@@NMelter my current vehicle is a 2007 ford focus, it had zero rust and 50k miles on it when I bought it in 2018. I paid a whopping $2400 for it. You can never justify a brand new car when you get deals like that. That car will potentially give me 100-150k miles for $2400 . That’s insane.

22:60 THIS IS EXACTLY WHY EVERYONE needs to know their rights as tenants!! Those windows were covered under Warranty of Habitibility , the unwritten LAW in all 50 states that says you as a tenant must have heat, hot water, no pests or varments, no holes in the roof, windows that WORK... You had EVERY RIGHT after a REASONABLE amount of time, to pay for the windows out of your rent. Granted... It would have had to have been some kind of payment plan, but it would have gotten done.
If that wasn't possible then you could have stayed in a hotel and she would have had to pay for it.
Secondly.. you could have ALSO probably paid for the gas lines to get fixed OR.. had them turned off and gotten an electric stove installed from your rent also. Usually if appliances come with the house they have to be maintained as such. IOW, if there was no stove (like in some states, the tenants buy the appliances), then she wouldn't be required to give you one. But the gas is part of the house so she would be responsible for that.
PLEASE EVERYONE LEARN YOUR RIGHTS AS A TENANT!!!
Tenant laws are different in every state.

Love my old beater car while I get out of debt. Have door stops wedged on a side window to hold glass up. Double sided tape holding bits on the car. Some doors you can only open from inside, smokes on start up. I humbly named her Journey.
I've paid off two debts this year and have increased my income. My life and faith has changed listening to Dave and his co hosts. Sending many thanks from a single mum in Australia. ❤️

1:06:25 I don't know what the laws are in New Mexico, but in my state, if you use a realtor, ALL owners of the property have to sign the listing agreement (Donna AND her daughter in this instance). If so, it's not just up to Donna to "put a sign in the yard," unless she goes the FSBO route, which Dave never recommends.
He said she will need to get a court order which will end up costing her $10k, if the daughter doesn't agree
49:50 is not accrual accounting. Accrual accounting is putting his purchases into inventory and recognizing the cost of goods at the time the item is sold. That way the revenue and the cost are recognized at the same time. Until then, his inventory sits on his balance sheet as an asset.

Also if that daughter thinks she can throw mom in a assisted living facility and that will be the end of it she is making a huge mistake. When the mom runs out of funds to pay for the facility, the facility and state can force a sale or just take the house to pay any debts owed for her care, especially when she passes. There is a 7 year gap needed from date of transfer to a family member for NYS not to take a house. Happened to a friend of mine.
Dave Ramsey could present a show where the US National Debt of USD $34 trillion could be a subject and any ideas the US could use to reduce the debt.

The second caller who called asking if she should lie about the amount she’s selling her RV for the lady, just do it, it’s not going to hurt u in anyway I’ve done it plenty of times. It’s not so serious to call into a show to ask that. Dave and Rachel can’t give u the answer they want because this is a radio show but I’m sure both of them have done stuff to save money on taxes
1:08:00 in. Not saying the mom does or does not need assisted care, but rarely does the person that needs to be in an Assisted Living or Long Term Care think they need to be there. It’s usually, and correctly, the family members that think they need to go. Dave was a little too bull headed here.
Dave is like “just go get an apartment” like they don’t probably have a contract with this rent to own RV, and obviously if they could get an apartment they would have. A lot of places require first, last, security plus good credit, rental history and proof of income showing you make three times the rent. If you haven’t been working consistently, it’s hard to come up with all of that. That was probably one of the few options that they had to not end up on the streets.

Not a Dodge?!?!? I have a 1993 Dodge pickup and my husband drives a 1985 RamCharger, both still running like champs! A salesman at our local Chevy dealership offered hubby "help trading up from that old rust bucket," to which he said, "No thanks." Sorry guys, we love you, but we'll drive our Dodges until they die!
Neither of those vehicles are El cheapo commuter cars though. Both your vehicles were made for more durability than an early 2000's commuter car.

Depends on the contract. There are some out there that require the buy to make payments for a set number of years before no penalties. However, most have no penalty no matter how many payments were made.

Not all annuities are bad. For people who are already in their mid 60s+ and have no pension or retirement savings, they can be a good source of guaranteed income with a much smaller initial investment. They would not be a first choice, especially for someone younger, but 65+ no one knows what is going to happen with one's health.

It's to save the buyer on sales taxes when registering the title. Buyer 1 bought a new rv from dealer and Already paid the 8ish% sales tax. Buyer 1 sells used rv to buyer 2. When buyer 2 registered the title, they have to pay same 8% sales tax AGAIN on the used price.. Buyer 3 would pay same 8% sales tax again too. Why does the city get paid tax multiple times on the same rv when it's already been collected? I already paid property tax on the driveway the rv sits on. It's OVERTAXATION by the city. Illegal act by the seller, sure. Unethical, not in my book. I would have no guilt to reduce the paper price to save the buyer a few $$. Just charge a title registration fee not another 8% sales tax.

I've used my credit card for 5 years to buy product for my company. I pay it off every month . I have almost 400k in company account and 100k in personal in those 5 years ( not including investments). Seems to work for me lol. My suppliers don't like when you pay 30k in cash for orders .
